My mother receives very good care at Greenacres. She has severe memory impairment, dementia, but retains the majority of her personality. She is unable herself to tell me about her care. However, it is clear that all the staff care for and seem to like her. They have a good, cheerful and understanding
relationship with her.
Greenacres are aware that I had earlier been concerned about a lack of activities but I believe recently there are more activities and a regular list of events. This I believe benefits my mother even though she does not directly recall them.
In summary, I am content that mum receives good care in a friendly atmosphere and that those around her also enjoy a good standard of care.
I recommend Greenacres to others with dementia issues and whose relatives or carers want to sure of a good standard of care.

Mother is in good, caring hands at Greenacres which is important as her health fluctuates and mobility decreases. Her room is personalised with her own furniture, pictures etc. Entertainment in-house is not to mother's taste so she writes letters, reads, listens to the radio and watches tv in her room,
and staff have arranged transport and the company of a carer to enable her to go to a concert in the town which was much appreciated. She has a room on the ground floor which enables her to see people passing by, and trees which change with the seasons, which is important to her. The home is kept clean and is spacious and well maintained.

My Mum received a very warm and friendly welcome on her arrival at Greenacres. She is happy and has settled in nicely, and is also very happy with her room and feels very comfortable and is already calling it 'home'.

It is not that easy to assess how happy my aunt is in terms of how she finds the home. Being nearly blind and hard of hearing and with other issues at times she can misunderstand what is going on around her. Maybe at times the home could do more to explain things to her with regard to what or why this
has happened.
Her pet hate is having to wait for anything, she has always been used to doing what she wanted when she wanted which I know cannot happen all the time in her current environment.
She was very much into choral / classical music which is something which seems lacking in the home.
Her episode with another person does not go down very well at all and she finds it very intimidating.
Overall though I think Aunt M is happy enough in the home.

I would recommend Greenacres care home to anyone, the rooms are excellent and the staff are so kind and friendly to everyone, I am so glad I chose this home for my mum, the caretaker will do whatever he can to help.

I have always found the care given at Greenacres to be to a high standard. The staff are friendly, helpful, patient with the residents, and very professional. The place is clean, bright and airy. Bedrooms are well aired during the day. Meals appear to be healthy and appetising and care is taken
to encourage residents to eat when they become difficult with eating.

The care my brother has received at Greenacres Care Home, Meltham has been excellent. The staff throughout, from management to catering staff have always shown compassion and understanding. The home itself is purpose built and the emphasis is put on 'openness and freedom' for its residents. The care
staff are experienced and this is evident in their communications with resident's family and friends. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of any activities going on in different lounges and to socialise where possible.

My husband has been in care at Greenacres since 2011. The food is very good and care he gets is very good when he lets them. Only thing I will say as a negative is not enough staff, they seem to have a lot leave and then new ones come and go. For the residents this is not good. If this can be addressed
it would be better as then the residents would have more one to one care.

My sister and I are very pleased with the care my mother receives. The carers are very considerate and encouraging, always cheerful and keep us well informed. Although there are a lot of resources for activities no one seems to have the time to encourage the residents to participate. My mother complains
that she doesn't know what activities there are and is unable to comprehend the very complicated spreadsheet outlining the weekly activities. A daily board which the residents could easily see would be a bonus. My 'excellent' score for staff refers to the carers. Sometimes the front of house staff can be unwelcoming and offhand.

My mother has been in Greenacres for two years in a residential unit and then onto a E.M.I residential unit. All members of staff have given patience, understand and concern, showing always their full commitment towards the care, safety, comfort and well being my mother. The meals are excellent and
she has the freedom of choice to eat with other residents in the dining area or else on her own in her room. Greenacres is light and spacious, clean and well maintained. I have never felt any anxiety for my mothers welfare in the home, I trust the care there completely. Any problems have always been readily respected and dealt with.

Staff good at telling me how my sister has been and if she needs anything and what she has been up to. I am a bit concerned that when I visit she is sometimes wearing clothes that don't belong to her.

Mum is well looked after and cared for. The staff keep me and the family well informed of any problems either by telling us when we visit or by telephone. The new manager never seems available when we would like to see her and the receptionist seems to fob us off and says I can help you with any problems.
The staff in general, do an excellent job, but being refused to see the manager, I do not like. We were always able to see the previous manager.

As mums behaviour has become more challenging, her care has stepped up to cope with it. All relevant outside agencies have been contacted and recommendations put in place. Staff could not have been more caring and kept me informed. Mum responds best to known staff.

My sister and I are very happy with the care our mum gets at Greenacres, she has now been there for five and a half years suffering with dementia. All the staff are really friendly and we class them as friends as well as carers. Mum hasn't much quality of life but the staff try their best to keep her
cheerful and seem to love her. The food is always good and there are always plenty of drinks available. Mum is always clean and her dignity kept as much as possible. We have no hesitation in recommending this home to people who have parents in the same position

After considerable research of care homes in the area we chose Greenacres for my husband who suffered from dementia. This was undoubtedly the best decision we could have made. The staff showed him such care, kindness, and affection. He was treated with total dignity and visiting relatives now count
the staff there as friends. We would highly recommend Greenacres to anyone in a similar situation.

Following a rapid deterioration in my elderly fathers condition we were fortunate to obtain a residency for him at Greenacres.


The communal facilities and his room were modern, well decorated and to a satisfactory standard but the most important factor was the care and respect shown by the staff

who showed a genuine interest in my father.

Sarah Tomczynski

“I love working at Greenacres, we are all like a big family with our residents at the centre of everything we do”


Sarah has worked in care for over 18 years and has been at Greenacres for eight and has recently been promoted to Registered Home Manager. Sarah ensures that she is available to help lead the staff team to provide aspirational lifestyle choices for every single one of our residents. Sarah is on hand to answer any queries from our resident’s family and friends and will ensure that anyone coming to live with us can move in with as little disruption as possible. She constantly promotes independence for our residents and works with the Lifestyle Manager to provide regular exciting activities both within the home and on external trips.


Sarah has a certificate in Health and Social Care Management from Leeds Metropolitan University and has recently completed her NVQ Level 5 in Management of Adult and Children’s Services. Sarah is extremely passionate about her role and finds that Greenacres is a huge part of her life – why not pop in and say hello to the Greenacres family next time you are passing?
