Absolutely fantastic care home for my mum. I can't recommend enough. The staff go over and beyond in showing care and empathy to each and every resident. They treat mum with dignity, compassion in a fun and caring way. My mum has advanced stage Alzheimer's and doesn't know family and very little else. Knowing mum is so very well looked after in the most horrendous of circumstances is a blessing and relief for us as a family. Every staff member we have met have all been friendly, non judgemental and super helpful. The food always looks amazing, home made and the events they put on for the residents are regular and so well organised - again, with super home cooked bakes ect. Thank you to all the staff at Croftlands!

My dad was in Croftlands for his final days and the staff were very caring and attentive towards him. We couldn't have asked for more. My mum is now residing there and we know she will get the care she needs.

Reply from James Creegan, Director of Care at Croftlands

Dad spent his final three months in Croftlands, he was well looked after, he loved the food and never faulted the care.

We cannot thank the caring staff enough for caring for Dad and their kind words towards us and for caring so much when Dad passed.

My family and I plus our dog have visited daily since 22 December. We have been treated with the utmost kindness by everyone, this has helped us deal with a very difficult and distressing time. We have felt that we still had control which doesn’t always happen when a relative is cared for elsewhere.

My grandad was in Croftlands.
It is a great care home, which I would recommend to other families for a dementia unit.
The food is great, and they even made a cake for his birthday.
The staff are all lovely and very helpful.

Up until his last days, the staff were very attentive, and as a family we are very grateful to Croftlands.

My grandad was in here from December 2023, the food was very good and there were always people around if needed. We were always made to feel welcome and could make drinks whenever. The staff were great and he was looked after very well over the time he spent here.

Review from Mike N (Friend of Resident) published on 11 April 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My elderly next-door neighbour and friend of many years had become increasingly isolated and frail as a result of his health issues in recent years and became too ill to be able to cope living alone at home.

He had spent some time at Croftlands a couple of years previously whilst recuperating following a stroke. His care then (including during the covid period ) had been excellent so he was insistent that he would like to become a permanent resident at Croftlands when he accepted that he needed care on an ongoing basis. He has now been back at Croftlands for several months. His general health has improved greatly during this time and he has a very pleasant room with his own things and television in there and he is extremely happy and settled and well cared for by all of the staff. He particularly enjoys his food and is always very complimentary about the choice and quality of food that he receives. He tells me that he is very content to be spending the rest of his days at Croftlands.

Overall Experience
I went, with my husband, to visit my brother today. The staff were very caring and gentle with the residents. They took time to talk to them and to ask them what they wanted.
The home was spotless and despite many patients being incontinent did not smell at all. My brother was happy and cheerful, he was dressed nicely and his hair was clean and combed.
Whilst there I went into his room which, like the lounge, smelt clean and fresh.
His wet room and toilet was well scrubbed and was obviously used regularly. I was impressed!
I couldn't ask for more.
He does not eat his dinner or his tea but loves breakfast. So to keep his weight stable he has a breakfast in the morning and a breakfast in the evening. An excellent solution.

I would recommend Croftlands to anyone who has to put their loved one into a home.

Overall Experience

My mum recently had a fall and broke her hip. She spent 4 weeks in a different care home before she was moved to Croftlands. Within that 4 weeks she stopped eating, was very distressed, was falling out of her bed on a daily basis due to no bed guards being used, was dehydrated as she couldn't reach any fluids and her personal hygiene needs were not being met. This was very upsetting for the family so we agreed that she needed to be moved. Croftlands offered us the reassurance that they would look after our mum with dignity and respect and 3 weeks in we are so pleased with the change in our mum. She's no longer distressed, she's eating and drinking again, she now has bed guards so is no longer falling on the floor and she looks happy and comfortable. Although it is early days and there has been a few teething problems. Once discussed with the staff any issues are quickly addressed and resolved. The whole team are welcoming and kind and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home.

Overall Experience

Mum moved to Croftlands after weeks in hospital (her previous residential home told us they could no longer meet her needs). Mum's dementia made her frightened and vulnerable - a situation that quickly escalated in hospital. We were concerned whether Mum would settle into Croftlands - the 4th change in less than 12 months. Our fears were unfounded almost immediately. Mum settled in quickly and thrived. From initially spending most of her time in her room (a legacy from hospital her previous residential placement), she responded well to encouragement to join other residents in the communal areas. We visit a number of times per week, and always find her sitting in these areas, and see her joining in with activities. The staff are kind, compassionate and patient to all residents equally. They have put a smile back on Mum's face - a joy to see. It is hard to experience a loved one with dementia, but we love visiting Croftlands. An amazing place full of wonderful staff.

A huge thank you to all of the staff at Croftlands Care/Nursing Home in Kirkburton. My mother-in-law was admitted to the nursing home in March 2021 and peacefully passed on 16.06.2022. The care she received was exemplary. All of the staff including the nurses, the carers, the admin, the cleaners and the manager are amazing. As well as giving the best care to my mother-in-law and her relatives, they are professional, helpful and supportive. My husband and I can’t thank them enough.

Overall Experience
My Great-Aunt was in Croftlands since April 2019 until she passed in July 2019. The time at Croftlands for her and us as a family was amazing.
From the day she moved in the staff, admin and everyone were welcoming, professional and happy in their work.
We always felt we could visit our relative at any time of the day and was always updated on her progress via the telephone or in person.
The care given to her and the facilities were second to none. I would definitely recommend this care/nursing home to anyone who is having to help get their relative into a care home.
Always visit a care home unannounced to get the feel of a place and CQC reports are good but not always the be-all and end-all of finding a good care home.

Croftlands has an amazing staff who show compassion, care, professionalism, support and love and genuinely take pride in their work.

Well done and keep up the good work you lovely people.
