an agreed hourly charge for this service.

We originally moved Dad in for some respite care following time in hospital, he was so well looked after on Dickens suite, all the staff were really helpful and ready to call in the district nurse and doctor as soon as was necessary. The food was lovely and the staff were really quick to get to know
him and ensure that his every need was catered for, he was only there for two weeks and then went back into hospital.
He was in hospital for 5 weeks and returned to the Nursing suite as he was really frail and it became apparent that he was on end of life care.
The nursing staff were so lovely with him he was treated with the utmost respect and kindness as were his whole family, we were fed and our every need was also taken care of at this difficult time. The nursing staff were excellent and made a sad event as lovely as it could be, when Dad passed away after a week we felt like we would miss the staff at Sandfields and that they had become friends.

I am very grateful for the quality of care that my husband is receiving at Sandfields. There is a real sense of community in the home which has helped my husband to feel settled. Everyone is valued, be they residents, friends, family or staff. There are opportunities for everyone to have a say about
what goes on in the home. There is a sense that all the staff work as a team to achieve the very best for the residents, it is ongoing and means that there is a vitality and positivity about the home.
There is always a friendly welcome from the reception staff. I feel at home and comfortable when spending time with my husband. Our dog loves to visit too. As do our grandchildren. There is a large, light cafeteria conservatory area, ideal for residents and visitors to relax and enjoy the tempting homemade cakes and coffees, teas etc that are on offer. It is also an opportunity for visitors and residents to mix with others who are using the home.


Everywhere is well maintained, the resident's rooms are large and comfortable.
The activities staff work tirelessly and enthusiastically providing a wide range of things to enrich the lives of residents. Visitors are encouraged to join in too. My husband and I have been able to share in the pleasure of entertainments and activities organised by the team. Our grandchildren have enjoyed Victorian afternoons, Christmas decoration making sessions and more.


My husband is given the best of care. His many medical needs are attended to with diligence. During difficult episodes, the managers and staff have given me their time and support and my husband has been treated with respect, kindness and understanding.

Mum is happy here. Her room is great and night staff are helpful and always helping. Food is good and home is nice and warm. The only downside is car parking.

My mother moved into Sandfields in August 2016 after a very disappointing experience in another care home in the area. She was immediately impressed and made to feel very welcome.


Mum liked the bright coffee shop area, was also enthused by the activities laid on, and took up some old hobbies again.


The

staff on her wing looked after her very well and were very proactive in dealing with problems. On the couple of occasions that I noticed something troubling Mum, I mentioned it to the staff and discovered that they were already aware and actively dealing with it. Bell rings were answered promptly and the room was always clean and the equipment well-maintained.


Sadly, her health declined over Christmas and she passed away in January. However, on several occasions beforehand she told me how well-cared for and safe she felt at Sandfields. It is a comfort that she spent her last months in such a pleasant environment and I would recommend Sandfields wholeheartedly.

Following my father's death, my mother moved into Sandfields care home in February 2016. She was 87 years old, frail and after 65 years of married life quite lost. The accommodation, lounges, cafe, layout of the home all wonderfully arranged. She had a lovely private space with her one en-suite, shower
room and yet just outside her room she had a very comfortable and inclusive lounge and dining room to make friends with other residents. The staff are caring and helpful and she enjoyed their company as well as their care. She was nursed through her final illness with people she knew, in her own room and this meant a lot to her and her family.

The home is very well run, always clean and friendly.
The staff are amazingly kind, understanding and helpful. Their patience is amazing. There are many activities available to the patients. My husband and I value the monthly communion service.
The food is well cooked and delicious particularly the
home made cakes. My only complaint is that the laundry service often mislays the patient's clothes.

Unfortunately, in this instance, the iron-on labels in your husband’s clothes washed off after several washes and it took a little while to reconcile the unlabelled items back to your husband. We are pleased this has now been resolved and to ensure this does not happen again, we are advising all residents and their families to opt for sew-on- labels. Mum has now been at Sandfields for 16 months. She is extremely happy here. the care ana attention she receives is second to none. As her daughter, I have a really good relationship with many of the staff including her main carers, management, activity reception and kitchen staff. They are always cheerful
and willing to go that extra mile to make residents feel at home and importantly safe. The home is kept very clean and it is a pleasure to visit. I am very pleased we chose Sandfields for my Mum.

My initial impressions were and still are very good. I am certain that Sandfields outperforms other homes in this town. I cannot really fault the service provided. The quality of care seems top notch and all the staff treat Mum so well and they display care, understanding and empathy for her situation.
The bottom line is that Mum feels happy and importantly very safe and she is very content. I am a strong advocate for Sandfields and it is a pleasure to visit.

My mother has been a resident at Sandfields since April 2016. She went there from hospital, very reluctantly, following a fall at home. She has Parkinson's and Lewy Body Disease and was no longer able to live at home safely even with a live-in carer. She has been treated with respect since the day she
was admitted. The home is modern and maintained to a high standard. The rooms are very comfortable and residents are encouraged to personalise them.
The staff, from the manager down to the cleaners, are professional and caring. Her physical and mental health have improved immensely despite the unrelenting progress of the disease. We are able to raise any issues or problems in the knowledge they will be considered and actioned.

My husband arrived at Sandfields in December 2016. The attention he receives is unquestionable. The care, devotion and consideration are excellent. The cuisine would do any top restaurant proud, both in flavour and variation. We are 100% fully satisfied with all the medical expertise he is receiving.

My husband has stayed at Sandfields on three occasions for respite care. The last visit for three weeks. When 2 have "collected" him he has been happy - on very good terms with all the staff who were warm and supportive. The whole ambience of Sandfields is one of warmth, support, gentle humour and understanding
of both the residents and his/her relations.

I want to thank the staff of Sandfields for being so supportive and willing to help me when my 95 year old relative needed to go in for respite care after a fall which resulted in a hospital stay.
They assessed my relative in the hospital and facilitated her coming to stay at the Sandfields the next
day.
All the staff facilitating this were extremely helpful and efficient.
This was about our fifth stay at Sandfields over the last couple of years and I would not hesitate in recommending their care.
My relative is fiercely independent and they always treat her with respect and dignity.
They have helped me when we have reached crisis point and always help to calm the situation.
Thank you again to you all at Sandfields. We really appreciate your help and understanding.

When I first visited Sandfilelds in July this year I was pleasantly surprised. It would have been easy to have been convinced by just the modern building and decor. However, I took the time to listen in to conversations between residents and staff in various settings whilst touring the carehome. The
level of respect was very reassuring. There was no patronising; I overhead genuine, considered and chatty conversations.


Since my wife has become a resident my opinion of it has increased. All the staff know her, will stop and chat and always with a smile. And this is not confined to the care workers but also to the management, administration, catering and maintenance staff.


Whilst my wife is not really aware of her change of home, for the family and me, it has not been so easy. Here again, the staff at Sandfields have been wonderful. They have taken time out to spend time with me to help me through my difficulties in coping with this massive change to our lives.

Mum is looking and responding much better than she has for the last 6 months. When she was in hospital, she became very withdrawn. But since she came to Sandfields, the staff have been so kind and encouraging, she has blossomed! She has become more like her old self. Even though her dementia seems to
have stopped her speaking. The staff have encouraged her to take notice and response to others. She is now eating and drinking almost normally and smiling at and acknowledging people.
I don't think she could get better care/nursing anywhere else. Everyone is so kind.

My mother comes to Sandfields three days a week, she comes to give me a break (she lives with me) and she will be coming in for a respite break later this month. Sandfields staff are all lovely and very friendly and know her by name, as soon as she walks through the door she is greeted by all staff
who set eyes on her in a most affectionate manner and they treat her with respect and care. She is quite happy to come here and has made many friends.
I feel that by coming a few days a week she is getting to know her way around and should the need for her to come and live full time arise then it will not be such a change for her and the adjustment will hopefully be easier for her.

Having visited several care homes for both my father and mother it is quite clear that Sandfields stands out. The accommodation is modern and bright but remains homely and welcoming. However, where Sandfields really stands out is the level of care which starts at the top and works all the way through
this very well managed care home. The resident's wishes are always at the top of all decisions made, so with my mum, this involved keeping her in her room and ensuring that the care she needed could be provided on her floor, from getting her hair and nails done even when she was too sick to move. The care extends not just to the resident but the family too and the support my brother and I were given at all times kept us going when times were hard. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sandfields.

I have been very impressed with everyone at Sandfields. All the staff are kind, compassionate, professional and friendly with a sense of humour too! They all went the "extra mile" to care for my mother and also for my daughter and myself after she died. The standard of care was very much better than
any hospital's (I have been an NHS nurse for 30+ years).
Mum was very happy there and settled in remarkably quickly.
I would recommend Sandfields without any hesitation it is an exceptional care home of the highest quality.

Job Title: Home Manager

I'm a qualified and experienced nurse – I've worked in hospitals and care homes for over twenty years.


I joined Care UK in 2014 and have worked my way up to clinical lead, deputy manager and now home manager.


No two days are ever the same here at Sandfields. Every resident is treated as an individual and according to their changing needs. My favourite part of the day is meeting with my team at the start of the day, receiving handovers from each unit and supporting colleagues to make decisions that will make a difference in the lives of the residents.


Outside of work, I'm very connected with my church and the local community. I also like to spend my free time going camping, sightseeing and connecting with friends and families all over the world via social media.
