Built over three floors, each floor is divided into suites, each benefiting from its own dining room, lounge and spacious en-suite bedrooms. Ground floor rooms open on to the beautiful gardens. Creating smaller communities in the home makes it easier for residents to get to know each other, and it keeps hustle and bustle to a minimum.
The Cheltenham home is situated near to town, and the dedicated lifestyle team arrange a programme of one-to-one and group activities, as well as trips out in the home’s minibus.

Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge. Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible.

When I first visited Sandfilelds in July this year I was pleasantly surprised. It would have been easy to have been convinced by just the modern building and decor. However, I took the time to listen in to conversations between residents and staff in various settings whilst touring the carehome. The level of respect was very reassuring. There was no patronising; I overhead genuine, considered and chatty conversations.
Since my wife has become a resident my opinion of it has increased. All the staff know her, will stop and chat and always with a smile. And this is not confined to the care workers but also to the management, administration, catering and maintenance staff.
Whilst my wife is not really aware of her change of home, for the family and me, it has not been so easy. Here again, the staff at Sandfields have been wonderful. They have taken time out to spend time with me to help me through my difficulties in coping with this massive change to our lives.

Mum is looking and responding much better than she has for the last 6 months. When she was in hospital, she became very withdrawn. My mother comes to Sandfields three days a week, she comes to give me a break (she lives with me) and she will be coming in for a respite break later this month. Sandfields staff are all lovely and very friendly and know her by name, as soon as she walks through the door she is greeted by all...
I feel that by coming a few days a week she is getting to know her way around and should the need for her to come and live full time arise then it will not be such a change for her and the adjustment will hopefully be easier for her.

Having visited several care homes for both my father and mother it is quite clear that Sandfields stands out. The accommodation is modern and bright but remains homely and welcoming. However, where Sandfields really stands out is the level of care which starts at the top and works all the way through this very well managed care home. The resident's wishes are always at the top of all decisions made, so with my mum, this involved keeping her in her room and ensuring that the care she needed could be provided on her floor, from getting her hair and nails done even when she was too sick to move. The care extends not just to the resident but the family too and the support my brother and I were given at all times kept us going when times were hard. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sandfields.
I have been very impressed with everyone at Sandfields. All the staff are kind, compassionate, professional and friendly with a sense of humour too! They all went the "extra mile" to care for my mother and also for my daughter and myself after she died. The standard of care was very much better...
I would recommend Sandfields without any hesitation it is an exceptional care home of the highest quality.
A little more attention could be given to menu and food wastage. Senior citizens find it hard to digest Chilli's, Spaghetti Bolognese, Curries etc. Recently fish was served without bones being removed causing a problem. Hence all the lunches being returned. A less elaborate menu would be welcomed.

Thank you for your feedback around the choice of food available. We always welcome comments and are really keen to adapt menus to suit our residents’ needs. In fact we have regular monthly resident meetings with the Head Chef in attendance where we ask for feedback from everyone who is able to attend, ensuring that we adapt the menus to suit their needs and preferences. Many thanks also for your feedback regarding the fish. This was caused by a supply issue which we immediately rectified with the supplier.
Since moving in the relief of being looked after has made me and my family feel at ease. The staff are wonderful and it's nice to have a giggle with them everyday.

My mother has just come to the end of a 5 week stay at Sandfields to recuperate after a 5 week stay in Cheltenham General following a major heart attack and fractured neck of femur. She arrived in a wheelchair, low in spirit, no interest in food, having lost a considerable amount of weight while in hospital, weight she didn't really have to lose.
Today, mobilising well, enjoying food and has started to regain weight. She is full of praise for the staff and care, has regained a lot of independence and is returning to her flat tomorrow.

I joined Care UK in 2014 and have worked my way up to clinical lead, deputy manager and now home manager.
No two days are ever the same here at Sandfields. Every resident is treated as an individual and according to their changing needs. My favourite part of the day is meeting with my team at the start of the day, receiving handovers from each unit and supporting colleagues to make decisions that will make a difference in the lives of the residents.
Outside of work, I'm very connected with my church and the local community. I also like to spend my free time going camping, sightseeing and connecting with friends and families all over the world via social media.
