Built over three floors, Sandfields is the epitome of comfortable living. The floors are divided into two suites, each benefiting from its own dining room, lounge and spacious en-suite bedrooms. other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

The family have been very happy with the care that the team give to Dad. He is extremely well cared for and encouraged to take part in activities where appropriate. I cannot recommend Sandfields enough and especially under the care of one particular member of staff, who is an inspiration to her team.
I wouldn't want Dad to be anywhere else.

My mum has been living at sandfields for almost five years. We have always been extremely happy with every aspect of her care and the overall Sandfield experience. There is a lovely family feel to Sandfields and every member of staff regardless of their position is very friendly, helpful and supportive.
They all greet mum by her first name. All the staff on Bronte Unit have become like family members to us. Their care and kindness towards mum is exceptional. We can relax knowing she is in safe and reliable hands.

This review regards the care of my father on his last days of his life. Firstly, the staff were brilliant. Kind, caring, respectful and helpful and showed us all quite remarkable kindness.
They took the most wonderful care of Daddy.
The room was done in such a way as to make us feel calm, peaceful
music, Daddy looking loved, clean, bedding clean, air into the room. We could not have asked for more in a terrible situation.

Facilities and staff are excellent. The staff all know my dad and his like and dislikes so they can give details care. Apart from a minor bugbear with the parking (not enough spaces). I can't praise the home enough and am very happy with the care my dad is receiving.

Our mum has been resident here over two years and has been very content with the facilities. The carers have been excellent looking after all the residents, in fact, many go above and beyond requirements throughout Austin Ward where dementia is common in all residents.

Since Dad has been in care, his treatment has been exceptional. He is comfortable and safe, which is what he needed after his dementia progressed after losing our mother. The staff are absolutely amazing in every way and he has begun to settle a lot more. The unit team leaders have gone above and beyond
to keep Dad happy and safe. We will be forever grateful to them.

My father came to Sandyfields for short term respite care following a hospital visit. We were impressed by the general set up at Sandyfield, the kindness and professionalism of the carers. The rooms and the quality of the food. Areas, where there was room for improvement, were (1) staff cover over the
weekends and (2) need for more equipment (we ended up hiring a Sara Stedy as there were insufficient for all residents)

As you know, during your father’s stay here we had to assess his moving and handling needs on a daily basis and we were trialling various pieces of equipment. The Sara Steady which you brought in was also a trial as he was going home you would need the same equipment there.

Both my parents reside at Sandfields on different units. They are both cared for amazingly and we are thrilled with the attention and support they get. The staff often organize for my mother to visit my father on his unit for coffee and meals. All the staff are amazing, cheerful, friendly and very supportive.
They couldn't be in better hands.

I had been very impressed with the care and helpfulness shown by all the staff and carers. However, I was rather disturbed when I sat with my sister during a supper, to see the dining staff eating sandwiches, crisps and cake in between serving residents with bare hands, and then serving at the same
time. The supper that evening was rather sparse (one chipolata with mash, a sandwich wedge on a saucer with no salad or crisps as stated on the menu). I do not begrudge the kind carers picking at the food, but the cleanliness factor troubled me.

We sincerely apologise for the lack of attention of the staff on duty at the time of your visit and have reminded staff that our policies around service and hygiene must be adhered to at all times. The main meal is served in the middle of the day; at tea time there are both hot and cold options available for residents to choose from as well as an individual option if they prefer. Snacks are always available on the suites including crisps, fresh and packaged fruit, yoghurts, sweets and chocolate.

It is not an easy decision choosing a care home but we are very pleased that we chose Sandfields. If I need to move to a care home myself in the future then I would be delighted to move into Sandfields

because I would know I would be looked after with care and dignity.

Sandfields is an exceptional care home. Rooms are very well laid out and to a high standard of decoration.
All the staff have been extremely pleasant and helpful.
The food is to a very high standard.
My wife and I are very pleased that we chose Sandfields for our elderly relative, knowing that she

On visiting for the first time I was welcomed, this was before I had visited the resident's spacious accommodation. The staff were also friendly and helpful. Immaculately clean everywhere. The food is excellent. Overall perfect.

My father has been living at Sandfields for approximately 16 months. He suffers from dementia on visiting him I know he feels safe, is happy and well cared for. What more can I ask for as long as dads happy I'm happy. Smiles all round.

Quality of care is very good. There are lots of activities for the residents to enjoy. When dad arrived he was very poorly but since being here, he is back on top form. They support him in his hobby of photography. All the staff are wonderful and very caring.

My mother in law is cared for as well as she could be. She has a lot of needs because she is confined to a wheelchair and physically weak and staff are attentive and patient always willing to go an extra mile. We always find her clean and her room is clean. She continues to eat with great appetite and
clearly enjoys her food. We think the staff at Sandfields are doing a great job.

My husband has been a resident in Sandfields Care Home for four months now and it has made a tremendous difference for the best in both our lives. I had not realised how exhausted I had become in looking after him and he was sinking slowly and getting weaker each day. Now having received excellent 24-hour
care and attention with much going onto stimulate him he is so much better and happily settled. I have been able to rest and recover. I have been able to visit whenever I wish and welcomed by all the lovely staff. Our lives have happily resumed again.

All the staff are positive - helpful - courteous and caring. Minor ergonomic issues.
The establishment is well organised and runs like clockwork considering this being over Christmas and New Year period.
My partner was well cared for. I would recommend Sandfield anytime.

Job Title: Home Manager

I'm a qualified and experienced nurse – I've worked in hospitals and care homes for over twenty years.


I joined Care UK in 2014 and have worked my way up to clinical lead, deputy manager and now home manager.


No two days are ever the same here at Sandfields. Every resident is treated as an individual and according to their changing needs. My favourite part of the day is meeting with my team at the start of the day, receiving handovers from each unit and supporting colleagues to make decisions that will make a difference in the lives of the residents.


Outside of work, I'm very connected with my church and the local community. I also like to spend my free time going camping, sightseeing and connecting with friends and families all over the world via social media.
