My mother was a resident at Appletrees for 11 months up until early July 2023. During that time, the care that she received was fantastic. The staff were always welcoming, polite, smiley, helpful and professional, and always treated all of the residents with respect. If I ever had a query or problem
regarding my mother's care it would be discussed and a solution found and implemented quickly. I often quietly observed the dedication of the staff, doing what is often a challenging and difficult job; true affection being displayed for those under their care. I would thoroughly recommend Appletrees.
Reply from Helen Dearing, On behalf of the team at Apple Trees Care and Reablement CentreThank you for your kind feedback and for taking the time to write us a review. I'm glad your experience of our home was very positive when we cared for your mother. It was an honour to have her here as one of our residents. We will share this review with the whole team, they will be so grateful to read it. Many thanks!

After a fall at home, my gran needed some time to rest and recover. Since day one, all of the staff at Apple Trees made sure she was comfortable and happy and had everything she needed to grow stronger and earn back as much independence as she possibly could. Nothing was too much trouble, all of the
staff were always happy to answer any questions we had or reassure us of any of our worries.
Special mention to one staff member, who always came over for a chat and offered us a hot drink, and made sure we were looked after and felt welcome. He is an asset to the team! Keep doing what you’re doing Apple Trees.

I have noticed that the staff are arranging activities which are nice to see, my mum seems to enjoy these. There are also new jigsaws, again which Mum enjoys. The staff are very helpful and extremely patient with my dad who can be trying. There do seem to be more staff on duty than there used to be.
I don't know if this means there is a retention issue or if it is a reflection of the care sector in general, we are told, though we are very happy.
Reply from Rowen Campbell, On behalf of the team at Apple Trees Care and Reablement CentreThank you for taking the time to share your experiences with Apple Trees, we really do appreciate your comments and I'll make sure the team at the home sees them. If we can ever do anything else for you or your parents, please don't hesitate to ask.

Despite initial reservations about care homes in general (unfounded!) We have found Apple Trees to be a wonderful sanctuary for those people unfortunate to be able to live at home no longer. The staff are dedicated, hard-working, well trained and kind - more like old friends than just care workers.
The accommodation is excellent, roomy, cheerful and comfortable. The food is well-chosen, varied, well cooked and plentiful. Visitors are encouraged and made welcome - a home from home.

We have been really happy with the home. We love the open plan layout. Everywhere is clean and well kept. All the staff have been very friendly and always helpful. We can always ask how our mum is and they either know or find out for us. The outside area has been great this summer, we can sit outside
under the shelter. We are delighted we have found a home that meets Mum's needs.

Mum needed residential care suddenly after a period of hospitalisation left her unable to help. She settled well and now is very content. The staff are very friendly and happy, despite the difficulties of Covid. Her room is kept reasonably clean and the carpet was cleaned recently. She is happy despite
memory problems causing her to feel disconnected at times.

My Dad was moved to Apple Trees from hospital after a TIA and also has mixed dementia too. The care staff were amazing with him from the moment he arrived to the moment he left this morning. He was well cared for and the facilities are great, we are just sad he couldn't stay there full time.

Extremely well run and comfortable care home. I found all staff to be friendly, caring, and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, whatever the time, day or night. I had mobility problems and they encouraged me without being pushy, giving me confidence in myself. I really cannot fault Apple Trees in
any way and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

The carers must be well trained. I was a trained nurse many moons ago, their duties are carried out professionally and competently. They are always ready to help me as I am nearly 90 and arthritic, so movement and mobility are difficult. They are all most helpful.

My aunty lived in America she is living with dementia. We had to bring her back to England due to a breakdown in her relationship, three days before she was due to return her place in a care home fell through. We contacted Apple Trees and they have gone above and beyond in making her feel safe and loved.
The deputy manager has especially given up her time to help her. The support staff are really wonderful. We couldn't be more grateful.

My wife was resident in Apple Trees for almost 4 years during which time she received excellent care. Having chosen Apple Trees, at first for respite care and then for permanent residence, I never had reason to doubt that she was in the right place. The staff have been wonderful. During the past 15
months the Covid pandemic has made things especially difficult, but through all that time Apple Trees kept her safe.
I think that the level of skills needed to care for patients with dementia is just not appreciated by society in general, and these skills are certainly in evidence at Apple Trees. I was particularly grateful for the kindness and support of staff during the days leading up to my wife's death.
So, my thanks go to all staff at Apple Trees whose kindness, patience and dedication have been truly inspiring; and if anyone asks me to recommend a care home, I know what I will be saying - Apple Trees, simply the best!

My uncle came to Apple Trees because he was unable to look after himself at home. Having experienced several other care homes my sister and I were very impressed with the en-suite bedrooms, the lounges and kitchen within the different home areas. Apple Trees is light, bright and clean and perhaps most
importantly always smells sweet. The staff have been lovely, caring and attentive and my uncle is very happy at Apple Trees. It is wonderful being able to visit now but my uncle was quite content during the Covid lockdowns and when we were finally able to visit, he looked well. We are very grateful to all the staff who care for our uncle and would recommend Apple Trees without hesitation.

It was a difficult decision to make but when we realised that mother needed full-time care we could not have placed her in better hands. Mother has thrived. We know she is safe, well-fed, and well looked after. Mother lives in what can only be described as a family environment, which gives her company
and security at all times, which we can only be grateful for. Apple Trees has maintained its high standards throughout the covid crisis. Has kept the family informed every step and we cannot speak too highly of the care provided. A big thank you.

Due to Covid 19 I have been unable to go into the care home. My review is therefore based purely on my interaction with staff on the telephone for the last 4 months. I cannot fault the proactive care provided for my very elderly mother. Any issues were dealt with immediately and I was kept informed
at every turn. The admin staff are excellent nothing is too much trouble for them. The care staff got to know my mother quickly and were well informed when I phoned to ask how she was. They were as patient with me as the residents! I feel my 95 year old mother has been looked after in a gentle, caring and dignified way.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.501)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.501) out of 10 for Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.651 for Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre is calculated as follows: ( (142 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 172 Ratings = 4.651
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
