My mother has been a resident of Maycroft Manor for the last one and a half years because she has mobility issues and was unable to stay at home safely. Consequently, it has been great for me to know that there is care available for her 24hrs should she need it. There is a lovely atmosphere at Maycroft Manor, which is what first attracted me to the home, and it is very clean and modern. The cafe is a good social hub for residents and visitors alike, and the onsite hairdressers and cinema are a lovely asset for the residents. The lifestyle team make sure there are always interesting activities to do. My mum used to feel lonely sometimes at home but has made new friends with the residents and staff. Maycroft Manor makes the effort to make it an attractive place to visit with themed events for residents and guests alike.

My husband spent three years in the nursing area. When the home was new there were problems but these were dealt with and Maycroft is now well run by management with a positive reaction to any difficulties. They don't say "I'll deal with it" and do nothing.
There is a welcoming atmosphere, the building is well cared for and there is never a bad smell.
The staff are very kind and take the trouble to get to know residents and their preferences. There are many activities for all and staff take the trouble to make it possible for residents to participate. Those who prefer to stay in their rooms can do so. The bistro is the centre of social life and is well used and in good weather, the garden provides an opportunity for sitting or taking a walk.
Food is very good and the kitchen staff take the trouble to be responsive to comments.

The building has first-rate facilities, thoughtfully carried out. Wheelchair access excellent. All rooms have a big window.

Maycroft is stylish, friendly and a well-run care home. I have always found the staff to be informative and caring. The rooms are kept very clean and tidy and there is never a smell that unfortunately many care homes have. The food is good and the residents have a good menu choice.

The home is very warm and welcoming and the staff are excellent.

The accommodation is of a very high standard as are the facilities. Having never seen any other care homes, it's difficult to know how this compares but I have no major complaints and have been very happy with the service provided.

I was in Maycroft for 2 weeks respite care post op. The home itself is of a very high quality and the care was of a similar standard. The staff were all great and looked after me very well indeed. I can't fault this place at all.

Excellent care, marvellous facilities and sympathetic and caring staff. Since my friend (for whom I hold the Power of Attorney) moved into Maycroft Manor, his care and treatment have been exemplary in every possible way. It is always a pleasure to visit and be greeted by the friendly staff.

My mother moved to Maycroft Manor Care Home in April and thankfully it was her decision to move into residential care due to an increasing frailty. I have found the care provided by ALL the staff to be of the highest calibre, this is from the people who are clearly management to those who are on reception to those who nurse, care, clean, deliver laundry and serve in the bistro. Everyone seems to genuinely care and I cannot stress how much that means to me as even though I know I could not (and actually if I am brutally honest do not want to) have my mother live with me, I do desperately need to know that she is safe and in what is a real "home".
People at Maycroft Manor listen to the concerns of the family and will act upon suggestions that are reasonable.

It is never easy to recognise that a parent needs care but Maycroft staff have made that difficult journey easier to travel.

My first impressions, on entering the building, were very positive - it is light and spacious, and welcoming. Our first meeting with the customer relations manager was informative and encouraging. Once my mother-in-law had arrived, the care staff made sure they got to know her quickly, and were kind, encouraging and supportive of both her needs and my husband and me. The facilities are superb, with many activities laid on for residents every day to cater for all tastes. This was only a 3 week stay for my mother-in-law, to help recover from a broken pelvis, but the difference it has made to her has been amazing.

Maycroft Manor is a very warm, welcoming place - it is like no other care home that we have experienced. It is the way all care homes should be - it treats older people with the dignity they should be able to expect. There is a vibrant atmosphere which provides great stimulation for lots of different needs. The residents all seem very well taken care of and happy. The food/meals are a cut above other facilities and there is plenty of variety, and options to personalise things are bountiful. What a great place.

I found Maycroft Manor for my aunt to move to from London, to be nearer her family, at a late stage in her life, which is a difficult thing for somebody of her years to do. I have never regretted that decision. She has a very comfortable room with a smart en suite and the staffing levels are higher than a normal residence home so she gets plenty of attention. She is encouraged to join in the daily activities, including enjoying entertainment in the dedicated cinema room, and as a result she settled in very quickly and is very happy. The staff are all professional and caring.

Maycroft Manor has a grand name, but rightly so, the standard is the highest in the area in terms of facilities, accommodation and the staff. My wife's relation enjoys the comfort of a hotel but with care staff to ensure she is also well looked after. She is very fussy about her food but is never disappointed as Maycroft provide meals cooked freshly by a chef, with varied and tasty meals, always providing good choices to suit all palettes. Overall we are very happy with the care home.

Friendly reception staff - doesn't feel like an old people's home. Feels more like a top quality hotel. Grandfather's room is very comfortable and there are plenty of homely lounges to relax in. All staff very friendly, but professional, and appear to have a very good rapport with grandfather. He is happy at Maycroft which is the most important thing.

My husband was on the nursing floor at Maycroft. He was seriously ill with prostate cancer and Parkinson's and also suffered a stroke. I always felt supported by the staff often at difficult times. When I left to go home it was reassuring to know he would be getting the best care from the nursing and care staff. All the staff could not have been kinder when he died in October 2015.

Overall Experience

We chose Maycroft Manor for my mother (62) who has Alzheimer's after visiting many different care homes in Brighton, Essex and Malvern (near other family members). Maycroft seemed to have the most vibrant atmosphere and the other residents seemed the most happy out of all of the homes we visited. Mum has been resident for 3 months now and we are extremely pleased with how she has settled in. It was a big move for her and we anticipated significant upset, but the staff have helped her integrate well and she always says that she is happy there and she feels safe (very important).

Mum is in one of the smaller rooms, but it is certainly adequate and the quality and cleanliness is very good. Whenever we visit mum seems to either be involved in a group activity, or chatting in the free cafe to other residents, so we feel confident that she is not lonely or bored there.

Maycroft is on the expensive end of the scale, but we think the extra expense is justified since we feel mums quality of life is probably much better there than anywhere else.
