Bentley House is a purpose-built care home offering exceptional residential, nursing, dementia and respite care within a luxurious environment. From the moment residents and visitors arrive, they are met by a caring team who are passionate about creating a place that truly feels like home.

Life at Bentley House is shaped by the people who live there. Residents enjoy two elegant restaurants, with menus chosen by the resident committee. The stunning cinema is a popular space, often filled with visiting grandchildren. A dedicated Wellbeing and Lifestyle Team curates a rich programme of trips, visiting speakers, one-to-one time and activities, all guided by resident choice and regular forums.

The one-bedroom suites are more like private apartments than traditional care rooms. Each offers a separate bedroom, lounge and kitchenette, alongside a full en-suite wet room. These spacious apartments are double the size of those found in many care homes and are ideal for those who value extra space or for couples who wish to remain together. Studio apartments are also available for those who prefer something a little more compact.

While Bentley House boasts outstanding facilities, it is the care that truly defines the home. A wide range of needs is supported, from those who are relatively independent to residents requiring more complex care. The team pride themselves on providing discreet, personalised support that respects independence, dignity and choice at every stage of life.

Mum's stay at Bentley House allowed me a much-needed holiday. She settled in right away and enjoyed the various activities organised by the wonderful, caring staff. Her stay was a very happy one as all staff were so consistently kind and caring. I would not hesitate in booking another respite stay in
the future.

Following a spell in hospital, Dad is having a 2-month respite stay prior to going home as he says at 92 he still feels too young to be there full time! As a family, we wish he would stay. Everything is excellent about the home. It feels more like a 5-star hotel than a care home and has a wonderful
welcoming atmosphere and positive vibe. Every member of staff is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. You can clearly see the residents' comfort, safety and well-being are at the forefront of everything they do. Dad has enjoyed his stay, especially the wonderful food, but needs to find out for himself he cannot cope at home before agreeing to stay there permanently. Dad's sister was also a resident at the home when she died last October and she received the best of care in her final difficult days and was treated with the utmost dignity at the end. I cannot recommend this care home enough.

It has been a very good respite care for me after a back operation. Without exception, I have found the staff warm and helpful. The food is fresh and made from good ingredients. I think it would be good to offer two sizes of meals to avoid a lot of waste,

I visited to find somewhere to stay and be looked after for a few days after leaving the hospital after an operation - Bentley House has well satisfied my needs. The staff are very friendly and helpful - the approach is noticeably personal with consistent use of one's first name.

My mother passed away in Bentley House this month. She has been a resident there for five years. She had dementia, but she thrived in there. She was very happy there, and as a family, we had the peace of mind that comes from knowing she was being given the very best care.

We chose Bentley House because it didn't compare with anything else in the area. Having had a negative experience with our Nan years ago, this ticked all the boxes. Our mum had had a really tough time in hospital, and once she recovered enough, she moved to Bentley House. The staff got to know her very
well; they were interested in chatting with her and gave companionship when we couldn't visit due to Covid restrictions. If we wanted to know more detail about her medical issues, the nurses in charge would seek to find out the relevant information so that we were kept in the picture. The chef knew her favourites and would make sure she had a varied diet within the restrictions she had for her diet, even mixing different flavoured smoothies for her to keep up her strength. Mum was always made comfortable in her bed and was very well cared for. We are so glad Mum had her final months in a place where she was nurtured, treated with respect and responded to in good time. Highly recommended!

2021 was a tough year for our mum; she had a stoma bag fitted, which meant she finally needed carers to come into her home, at age 89. Then she caught shingles, and had a fall from her scooter that broke her arm, and so ended up in hospital for 2-months and unable to get out of bed. We had to make a
decision on placing her in a care home with nursing, so we looked at various homes in Ware and Hertford.
Bentley House stood out above all the others, and one of the client liaison managers made us feel that every effort would be made to welcome her and see that her every need was catered for. We made the final decision and have never regretted it. Mum is looked after so well by the nurses and carers, along with the GP. The food is excellent and to her taste, and she is undergoing physio now to help her arm recover. We visit every day, and anyone can see the residents are happy and well looked after.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Bentley House to any potential resident.

Bentley House is a beautiful home. I felt at home as soon as I arrived. The staff couldn't be more helpful and kind, especially the activity's staff and the regular care staff. I was here during the lockdown, and so there were no outings or entertainers (these were instrumental in our choosing Bentley
in the first place). We were told that no agency staff were employed, but there was a lot of agency staff during my stay. The food is excellent - also the service staff - perhaps if you increased staff pay, you would get more permanent staff. I would come to revisit.

Following a serious fall, the manager at Bentley House was both kind and sensitive as she showed my mum and us the facilities and the quality of care Bentley House has to offer.
She was clear in her communications and listened carefully to meet our needs. Once we had made our decision, she was systematic
and prompt in making it possible for my mum to start her 2-weeks respite stay.
Despite Covid restrictions, a robust system had been put in place, which still allowed me to visit my mum safely.
The rooms and facilities are beautifully appointed and clean, and sleeping in a hospital bed, allowed my mum to sleep much more comfortably. The wet room facility helped her to develop her confidence and independence again. Bentley House even provided her with a walking aid, which also helped her to regain strength during her stay. The food was good, and there were a number of individual carers who went out of their way to get to know her and make her feel welcome. Thank you so much.

Dad has been resident at Bentley House since August 2020 - arriving during COVID-19 restrictions.
The care team were incredibly reassuring at a very difficult time for the family and ensured Dad was helped to settle in over the first few weeks. Over the months of lockdown, the team have done their
very best to keep us in touch with Dad - helping with phone calls and gently encouraging Dad to get involved in social activities at Bentley House.
We have seen Dad’s mental and physical health improve over time - and are so grateful for the care and respect with which they interact with Dad every day. Now that we are able to visit again, it is just lovely to see how well the team have got to know Dad and how fond he is of his care team.
We are so grateful for the care and attention that the entire team pay to ensure residents’ and visitors’ safety during COVID - always adhering to guidelines while managing to make visits feel very special in spite of the restrictions.

I can not thank Bentley House enough for all they do for my mum. They are caring, considerate, compassionate and have navigated the Covid pandemic amazingly.
Living in a different country has been particularly hard over the last year, but it gives me great comfort to know that Mum is in the very best

My mum used to love cruising, and we now joke that being at Bentley House is like being on a luxury cruise ship with a variety of activities, 5-star service and fabulous catering. The only difference is they don’t stop off at different ports!
Thank you to all the amazing staff!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.783)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.783) out of 10 for Signature at Bentley House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.783 for Signature at Bentley House is calculated as follows: ( (313 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 346 Ratings = 4.783
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Signature at Bentley House is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have had the pleasure of being part of the Bentley House family since 2018, working in a variety of roles across the home. In my current position, I am the first point of contact for families beginning their journey to find the right caring environment for their loved ones.

I truly enjoy welcoming people into Bentley House and showcasing our exceptional facilities, luxurious surroundings and the incredible team who make our home so special. Supporting families at such an important time and helping them feel confident in their decisions is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2023

I began my career in care at the age of 16, working part-time as a Housekeeper while still at college. Spending time with residents quickly sparked a passion for care, and I soon left college to become a full-time Care Assistant. I spent my first ten years in the sector before taking the opportunity to travel, exploring Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia and South America over 18 months.

On my return, I spent the next 14 years developing my career from Senior Care Assistant to Assisted Living Coordinator, then Regional Care Coordinator, supporting homes across the business before stepping into a General Manager role. I later joined Signature Senior Lifestyle, first as General Manager at Elton House and then transferring to Bentley House.

With 30 years in the care industry, I feel just as passionate about supporting residents today as I did when I was 16. Providing exceptional care, leadership, and a true sense of home for our residents continues to be a privilege and a joy.
