My dad moved into Aaron Court for a week of respite care, but on returning home it was clear he wanted to be back at the care home. Within 2 hours of me calling the manager dad was back at Aaron Court and spent 4 weeks there before he passed away. The staff are friendly and helpful and dad was comfortable and looked after. I'll always be grateful for the support Aaron Court showed my dad.

Thank you so much for your kind comments especially at such a sad time for you and your family. It was a pleasure and a privilege for the staff to get to know and care for your dad if only for a brief time.

The management team are supportive, helpful and very responsive.
The staff show compassion and kindness and are very patient. They extend a warm welcome to family members and always offers a meal to her husband when visiting. How lovely that residents are taken out for afternoon tea.

Thank you for your care.

My mum has lived at Aaron Court for four and a half years now and is quite settled there. The staff are caring and considerate to her needs and I'm grateful she is very well looked after. In the beginning, we did have some issues over care but since the change in management, its very good and we are happy. Any care home is only as good as its staff, they all do a great job, from the cleaners, laundry, activity staff, carers, nurses and management. I believe the CQC rating is good too.

Aaron Court is a very lovely home, well lit and plenty of space for individuals to move around. The staff and management are all friendly and very approachable. When I need to ask questions someone is always available to assist and put your mind at ease. There are activities for all to take part in and also a church service for religious needs. I would strongly recommend Aaron Court to all my family and friends.

I have found the support we have received as a family from the staff, and especially the management, second to none. The support they have provided since the sudden death of our mother, they have provided support to our father who is the resident and we cannot thank them enough.

Our mum/mum in law/grandma was taken into Aaron Court on discharge from hospital. We knew that she wouldn't be there for long as she was nearing the end of her life at 93 years of age.

All the staff we came across treated both her and us (the extended family) with tremendous care, compassion and dignity. We were made to feel completely at ease and everything that happened was explained to us. There were so many special touches that made the whole experience more manageable.

Generally quite satisfied with the care given but too many carers do not converse with residents.
Often when they are not busy they just sit and chat with each other instead of chatting to residents (especially at weekends)

Outside areas very neglected.

This home is generally good overall but the carers do not spend enough one to one time with the residents. The food has gone very downhill with the latest chef and is not the sort of food that the residents want. The outside areas of the home are very neglected.

Aaron Court facilities are great, the common areas and bedrooms are all purpose built and designed, everywhere was clean and well maintained.

Staff appeared friendly and helpful.

However, we had real problems with my mum's care plan, records were not kept properly nor were they monitored, meaning health issues were not picked up. My mum became ill and had to leave the home. I have formally complained to the home but in nearly two months have failed to receive any acknowledgement, which is a real disappointment.

Reply from Andrea Gamble, Regional Director at Aaron Court

Thank you for your feedback which we do welcome in order to continually improve the service. You did raise a complaint directly to me on 04 February to which I sent an immediate response saying I would investigate your concerns and respond within 28 days as per company policy. I am in the process of looking into your concerns and a response will be provided within the 28 days.

They are always understaffed most of the time. The care team seem frustrated by management as they are not listened to.
I myself have phoned and emailed the GM with no reply.
I even had an appointment with the GM then I was told she had been called away to head office and was so sorry.
Her car was in the car park!

Poorly lead I’m afraid.

On the whole, this care home provides a good service despite on many occasions it seems to be very understaffed and it is often difficult to find a carer.
I feel they are making great efforts to improve their weaknesses. It is a shame agency nurses still have to be used, although on the whole, they are efficient.

The two "permanent" nurses (bank nurses) are excellent. Management staff seem to change quite regularly often making it difficult to address a problem to the right person.

Not enough care staff on shift at pertinent times of the day; mornings, lunch, after tea. Need lunchtime staff to either serve or feed. Residents left wet and uncomfortable.

Those staff that care give a diligent service but let down by those lacking and when so few are on. Delays.

My father will not be going again, I complained about poor care to staff and the manager. My father was not cared for properly, he was left just lying on his bed in just a pad with the door open for everyone to see, two staff on, they were showering someone, so no one to look after the other 12, 5 different managers in 6 months. The manager promised to ring me about concerns I had but never did. The place is really disorganised, from management down to staff, short staff as staff not turning up for work. My dad was so upset the whole time he was in there and couldn’t wait to come home.

5 managers and 1 area manager in 7 months tells me there are problems in this care home, the service is not up to a very good standard and none of the management seem to be able to handle the situation, this is such a shame as the building itself is of a very good standard. It's now gone to a point of having to move my mum to another home and we are now being given the cold shoulder, I hope that they can find a manager who is able put this home in good order one day.

I found Aaron Court an extremely pleasant place to be in. Everywhere was always clean and tidy and the staff were always helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. I watched them with the residents and they were always kind and gentle with them which is very reassuring when your loved ones are in a home.

I would recommend the home and hope I can bring my partner back if I need respite in the future.

My dad has been at Aaron Court since February 2017. I was very impressed during my initial visit and I have not been disappointed since.
My dad, who has dementia and is on the first floor, has always been treated with dignity and respect. He likes to walk around and quickly thought this was his home; he is able to maintain a degree of independence within the safe environment.
He has a lovely bedroom with en suite shower room. The whole place has a real family feel which is what someone with dementia needs.
The carers are excellent, they work so hard and genuinely care for the residents, nothing is too much trouble. My dad said to me this week, 'Those girls in green are the best.'
When I go to visit the staff are so friendly. There are activities organised on a regular basis if the residents want to participate and meals are excellent with drinks and snacks available.

Aaron Court is clean and very welcoming I am so pleased I found it for my dad.

Just to say that the improvement in the home recently has been exemplary. Everywhere is cleaner, the atmosphere of the home is happier, staff are more professional and happier and there are more activities for the residents. Just a much nicer place to be where they are so much more welcoming.

The home is an excellent home, the regular staff are amazing occasionally new ones are a bit slow until they get into the routines. The longer my mum is at the home the more we realise how hard work she is. The staff/carers are amazing and the office staff are always prompt and due diligence in keeping the family up to date with her progress.
