The staff at Acorn House were very friendly but proffesional from the moment we arrived. They took care of Mum like she was one of their own. Mum was taken out on several escorted trips that she enjoyed immensely. The food was good and they would always make her a cup of tea when she wanted one. I can't thank them enough.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It was a pleasure having your mum stay with us. We are so glad she enjoyed the trips out and will pass along your compliments to our kitchen staff.
The home is very welcoming, the staff have all been caring and, in a very honest way, helped Ken settle in from the very first day he came in. The staff have been supportive of our needs for Ken from day 1. And most importantly, Ken has settled.
Thank you for your lovely, honest review. We are pleased that Ken settled so quickly and that he continues to feel comfortable in his new home.
My father has been a resident for a few months now and has been well looked after.
He has suffered a stroke and has been helped in his recovery by various staff members.
He has been able to discuss any concerns directly with the floor manager and they are quickly resolved.
Thank you for your positive feedback. It's great to see your father doing so well in his recovery and to see him settled in his new home.

We are pleased that your mum is happy and content in her new home. It's great that she enjoys taking part in our activity programme, especially the arts and crafts. Thank you.
She was very well cared for by the wonderful staff who developed a bond of love with both her and all her family.
The kindness that they displayed will be forever remembered by us all. The dignity that she was offered at the end of her life will always be appreciated by us all. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It was truly an honour to care for your mother-in-law during the final years of her life. Knowing that our support made a meaningful difference to you and your family means a lot to our staff.

Mum has settled into Acorn House very well. This is a credit to the staff at Acorn, making mum feel welcome and safe. The activities are amazing and very innovative. The culture is very friendly, and I can only say I would have no hesitation in recommending Acorn House for a place for a loved one to live. Thank you, Martin and the whole staff at Acorn. Kudos to the whole team.

Caring for my Mum recently has become quite challenging. I only have praise for the support and advice from all floor staff, particularly the floor manager and reception. Everyone has shown kindness and understanding to Mum and responded to my concerns with similar understanding and a sprinkling of much-needed humour! Staff are always professional, available to discuss difficult issues and work with us to find positive solutions.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are pleased that you are happy with your mum's care.

The staff go above and beyond for my grandmother's needs. The areas are clean and tidy and very well maintained. I have eaten at the residence and the food is wonderful. The activities are fantastic. So much to do and the staff really get the residents involved and cater to everyone's distinct and separate needs. The reception staff are extremely helpful. Overall there's no other place I'd want my grandma

She has coeliac disease and requires a gluten free diet, although they have no other residents with this dietary requirement they have gone above and beyond to accommodate this and her individual tastes.

I am so grateful for the care and compassion shown to my father, since he moved into Acorn House. The level of care he receives is incredible and the staff are so caring and understanding. They always keep us informed of his well-being and give me peace of mind when I can't visit.
Thank you so much for your review. We are very pleased that you are happy with the level of our service.
Having been born in Nottingham, and spending most of her life in the city, we decided to look for somewhere local to her.
Thankfully, we were recommended to pay a visit to Acorn House, and after tour by welcoming staff, we put Acorn at the top of our list.
We visited a few other Homes, although non came anywhere near to offering the care and facilities that Acorn did, so we began arrangements for her to move in.
Initially, she was offered a room on the floor that accommodated the more serious cases of dementia, which she found difficult. Very soon though, Acorn offered her a room on another floor where she quickly made friends, and became more settled.
Thank you Acorn, you guys are great.
Thank you for you lovely review Keith. We appreciate your kind words and for sharing your experience. I'm very pleased that your sister has settled so well.
Dad isn't that keen on joining in with the many varied activities that you provide but you always do your best to include him. Communication is key to any successful organisation and your approach to this is second to none!
It's never an easy decision to move a loved one into a care home but it has given me and my dad a chance to be Dad and daughter again and not carer and patient and I will forever appreciate this!
You are all winners to me! With love and appreciation.
Thank you for your kind words. We do appreciate your feedback and will pass this onto the team.

Meet the Team (1)

Welcome to Acorn House!
I have been working in the sector for the past 20 years following the death of my father in 2001. While he was receiving palliative care at home I have been looking after him. My passion was always in care and making a difference no matter how big or small it was. After spending 12 years in 24-hour nursing care, I decided to move to residential care.
I came to work for Acacia Care 7 years ago and I have held many positions within the company from Night Manager, Care Manager, Home Manager and Regional Support Manager to my now current role as General Manager. I feel very honoured and privileged to have been given this opportunity to manage Acorn House and I hope my work and the work of the team will make a difference in the lives of our residents and their families.
