Acorn House Care Home

There are daily activities for residents and Acorn House is well designed for people with dementia. Overall, I am really happy with Acorn, relieved that my relative is being well looked after.

The Home seems to me to be values-driven and this shows at all levels and in all aspects of the provision.

Acorn House has cared for my mother with exceptional kindness, respect and compassion. Staff relationships with her have been genuinely warm and consistently ensure her dignity is maintained. As relatives we have experienced similarly outstanding care, respect and kindness from the whole staff team. Staff have communicated regularly with us to review care plans and promptly when necessary. It is apparent that the staff work and communicate as a team, resulting in a coherent standard from front of house, office staff, the catering and cleaning teams, activity coordinators and carers. Meals have been appetising and varied with special requests met whenever possible. My mother's room has always been clean and well maintained and her clothes carefully laundered. The wide range of activities offered is outstanding. One example was that my mother’s wish on the wishing tree was to hear bagpipes. A few weeks later on Burns Night the chef carrying a haggis was piped in by a piper!

We could not have found a better care home for our mother. The staff went far over and above the necessary tasks and provided a loving care environment. The many activities offered, the personal connections and the flexibility in coping with individual needs is exemplary.

My mum was at the home for 2 years before passing away and we as a family cannot thank the care staff enough for the care my mum and us as a family received, I know my mum loved them all, she loved all the activities they used to do, got lots of memories and photos, just a big thank you to all the staff.

The staff are very lovely, caring. Always a warm welcome. The care is of an amazing standard. Lovely, friendly atmosphere. A delight to visit weekly. Keep up the amazing work.

My sister came to Acorn House for respite care and the time she spent there was simply outstanding, from the care provided to staff engagement, everything is so lovely. I am sure she will be happy to come again.

Nan is still at Acorn House and we've had such a good time at the Christmas Party, the activities go above and beyond. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for great care for their parents or grandparents.

The reception was very helpful. As this area gives the first impression - it was pleasant to be received with warmth and helpfulness and set the scene for the visit. Queries were answered and where additional information needed to be sourced - the reception was able to seek out the appropriate staff.

Very happy that we found and got mum into this home as they really take good care of her. Especially with Coronavirus last 18 months.

I am extremely impressed with the professional way in which I was greeted and taken through the steps of visiting my friend today. The friendly and helpful staff are outstanding. The atmosphere was nice/calm. Wonderful home.

It was a tough decision to put Mum in a care home, however, we needn't have worried. The staff are amazing and got to know our Mum really well really quickly. She is content there and feels at home. They are brilliant in keeping in touch with families. She is cared for in the very best possible way with dignity.

Staff very nice, willing to help you with anything. If they don't know, they will find out. My dad seems to have settled in well. He looks very good in his appearance. During Covid, the staff have kept me informed with changes, safe visits and FaceTime phone calls. I and my family are very happy with Acorn House.

My lovely nana stayed at Acorn House for some respite care following a hospital admission after a fall which knocked her confidence greatly. Acorn House staff were very professional from start to finish while we were sorting out her admission. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming from the start and looked after my nana with great care and attention to which she regained her confidence and was looking better than ever and this was all thanks to the staff team. I was also able to book a visit to see nana through the booking system and again all current and relevant guidance followed and having to have a covid test beforehand I was put at ease and it made the experience much better. I would like to thank all the staff for making my nana's stay a good experience.

My mum was at Acorn House for almost 2 years until her recent passing. She was always treated with dignity and respect and so well cared for at Acorn House. There is true commitment by the staff team and individual needs are met so well. I would like to thank them all for making my mum's last couple of years more comfortable and safe.
