My mother in law is very happy at this home.
The staff are attentive, polite and caring. They always great the residents with a smile and speak to them with respect.
The accommodation is homely and spacious.
There is a good choice of meals and personal preferences are always taken into account.

I would highly recommend this care home.

We were very reluctant to place my mother in care as anyone would be. But six months down the line, my mother has made some great friends and regained her once lost confidence.
The carers and management are wonderful as is the home itself.

10/10 Keep up the good work.

My first time in Nottingham and came to visit my best friend's grandmother who used to babysit us when we were younger. She is well cared for and respected. It's nice to see her receive the care she once gave to us.

My mother-in-law is currently receiving respite care at Acorn House following several falls at home.
The care she is receiving is outstanding, all staff work tirelessly to provide a very high standard of care.

All staff are extremely polite and respectful and go out of their way to make visitors welcome at any time of the day.

My grandmother was admitted to Acorn House before Christmas for respite for a period of 4-6 weeks.
The staff are amazing, they treat my grandmother with kindness, dignity and respect at all times.
Nothing is too much trouble for them, all staff go above and beyond to make my grandmother feel settled and cared for.

Thank you to everyone.

Acorn House Care Home is modern with a fit for purpose layout - wide corridors, ensuite rooms and generous provision of communal areas. The staff are committed, warm and generally sensitive to the variable behaviours and conditions of dementia. Residents benefit from the support of a dedicated pool of staff who work as a team. My mum has much-diminished capability from the time of her admission. Whilst this is incredibly upsetting, I am impressed with how well staff have/are adapting. This social environment is the best setting to offer her the care and support she needs, of course, complemented by family visits.

My mother received excellent care from Acorn House during her 4 years at the home. The care staff were, without exception, committed, professional, honest and caring. Their attention to care and detail toward the end of her life were excellent. I have no doubts in recommending Acorn House and the high standards of care they provide.

My mother stayed at Acorn House for two-weeks respite care whilst I was away. On my return, she said she had enjoyed her stay and she felt that she had made friends with staff and others within the home. During this time she had been taken out into the local community for pub lunch and attended some of the activities. I feel this time, was well worth the money.

My experience over the last three years has been overall positive. Dad has been well cared for and respected. Any minor incidents have been fully reported and addressed immediately. I am confident he is always well looked after and even though he prefers not to join in many activities the invitation is always open. The staff are all marvellous. I am very happy with their care.

Review from Paul M (Son of Resident) published on 16 October 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Clean, bright accommodation with high quality fixtures and fittings, with staff who really care and are committed - from owner, through management team, a group dedicated to organising activities (outings etc) for the guests, the reception/admin team, the chef/catering team and, of course, the front line carers/nursing staff. All always very pleasant, positive and helpful. Mum could not have been made more comfortable and relaxed, nor, given her condition, secured and enjoyed a better quality for the last three and a half years of her life than being resident in Acorn. Highly recommended.

The resident is a very difficult person and is used to one to one care. You coped well with her attitude and bossiness as well as being patient and kind. Although it didn't work for the resident, this has no bearing on you or the staff. Well done to all of you. You work hard, work well and the staff have a cheery disposition.

Welcome to Acorn House!

I have been working in the sector for the past 20 years following the death of my father in 2001. While he was receiving palliative care at home I have been looking after him. My passion was always in care and making a difference no matter how big or small it was. After spending 12 years in 24-hour nursing care, I decided to move to residential care.

I came to work for Acacia Care 7 years ago and I have held many positions within the company from Night Manager, Care Manager, Home Manager and Regional Support Manager to my now current role as General Manager. I feel very honoured and privileged to have been given this opportunity to manage Acorn House and I hope my work and the work of the team will make a difference in the lives of our residents and their families.
