Overall Experience

The care and attention of our resident were of an extremely high standard. He always looked very well presented both in personal hygiene and appearance right up until the day he passed away. Nothing was ever too much trouble when requested by us or our resident. The staff at Perry Manor were very friendly and professional in their care of our resident and nothing was ever too much trouble no matter what was asked of them. The staff always filled us in on the care and health of our resident and his progress throughout his time at Perry Manor.

After visiting several Care Homes before making our choice this was by far the best we visited even though on this occasion we arrived unannounced.

Perry Manor compared to other Care Homes we visited seemed able to maintain a pleasant atmosphere and any unpleasant smells that obviously occurred were dealt with promptly and effectively.

A wonderful, positive experience.
My mother in law came for respite care and did not want to leave.
Everyone has been so kind and supportive in helping her to settle.
A couple of times she hasn't been well and she has received the best care.
She says the food is delicious, she is eating really well and she is thoroughly enjoying the great range of activities.
She is like a different person since coming here and has a new lease of life.
We have the peace of mind of knowing she has the best care.

We took her back to her flat recently to collect some things and she couldn't wait to get back here as she feels this is home.

Moving a parent into residential care is a difficult decision to make and quite stressful for both of you. However, Perry Manor and the staff who work there have made this really easy for

us. From our first visit, we knew this was the right place for Dad.

My sister and I have the utmost confidence he will be looked after like a family member by the staff. It really does feel like an extension of our own homes when we visit and nothing is too much trouble for the team when Dad needs help or just some caring company.

I came in with a broken arm requiring full-time care for a month and have found the experience pleasant and reassuring. Attention by the carers has been faultless and given with goodwill and smiling, good humour. Meals have been excellent and no request has been ignored. Coffee and tea are offered during the day and the coffee bar is always welcoming to residents and visitors.

From the moment my mother arrived at Perry Manor I was most impressed with the friendliness of all the staff. My mother was made to feel at home, as much as possible. Since then my mother has settled and is contented. The level of care is extremely high. Nothing is too much trouble. I can't emphasise this highly enough. As a family, we are always made to feel welcome and important.

Made my mother very welcome. Excellent activities for all to enjoy.
Very pleasant staff.
Food and refreshments good.

Visitors welcome.

Only one issue is car parking. It's so difficult for visitors - which is really bad - so does not encourage friends to visit.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at Perry Manor

We are grateful for your constructive feedback and are delighted with the positive comments and scores for the care and support we provide. We recognise that parking is an issue at Perry Manor and we are working to find a solution. The home manager will keep all residents and relatives updated on progress. We thank you again for your feedback and for taking the time to share your views.

The home made a wonderful effort to care and entertain all the residents up to and over Christmas. All the staff made the residents feel special and were welcoming to all us visitors.
The "party" was wonderful with the staff putting on the entertainment - very funny.
A lovely touch was the individual Christmas presents for each resident.

Car parking continues to be a problem though.

The design of the home is very good, being purpose built. The garden areas are well kept and pleasing to look at. The staff are very attentive, friendly, helpful and caring. The activities (morning and afternoon) are varied and organised and include outings in a mini-bus. Nurses administer medicines promptly at the correct time and in a caring way. The food and drinks are varied and delicious, even including cakes/biscuits to have with tea/coffee or cold drinks. Even the cafe is much appreciated by residents and visitors at no cost. The staff find time to talk to the residents compared to some other homes I have visited.

Meet the Team (1)

Katherine Matthews
Katherine MatthewsJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2016

I’m a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse, and prior to joining Perry Manor in 2016, I was Deputy Hospital Director of a 63-bed psychiatric hospital in Bristol. I originally joined Care UK in 2006 and worked in its mental health division. The idea of returning to work for the organisation was attractive because I believed in its core values, and respected its ‘care first, business second’ approach.

Since joining the Perry Manor team, I’ve been making positive changes for both the residents and my colleagues. I was thrilled when we received an ‘outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission at our inspection in late 2018. We were the first home in Worcester to achieve this quality rating.

I’ve also been honoured to have won a couple of recent awards for my work. In 2019 I won silver in the British Journal of Nursing Awards and in the same year I won the award for Best Dementia Care Manager at the National Dementia Care Awards.

I’m incredibly proud of the fantastic home we’ve created for older people in Worcester – none of which would have been possible without the commitment and passion of the team at Perry Manor. When you work in a care home you realise that it is organic, there will never be a finished product. It continues to grow, change and develop. Looking ahead, we will continue to strive to deliver the best care to every resident, keeping up-to-date with the latest practice and working with residents and their families to make Perry Manor a home from home for all of our residents.
