The standard of expertise, skill and dedication of the staff is excellent. Their patience and kindness are evident in all their dealings with my mother. Nothing is too much trouble. Attention to detail is first-class.
My mother is always treated with great respect, kindness, gentleness and thoughtfulness
for her overall welfare.
When a rare issue arises, it is handled promptly, sensitively and thoroughly according to best practice guidelines.

As a family, it was not an easy decision to move Mum from her home of 60-years as she was no longer safe living on her own. It is such a relief that Mum is safe and so well cared for. The care at Sunnybank is fantastic; the residents are treated with respect and as individuals, I cannot speak highly
enough of all the staff and the peace of mind it has given us as a family.
Thank you.

My mother was in the care of Sunnybank until recently, when she died. The staff at the care home were so kind and compassionate. They were always thoughtful and considerate. The staff were patient and helpful. My mum was always kept clean and tidy. Al times, she could be challenging, but they managed
her very well and allowed her to be as independent as possible.

Mum has been a resident at Sunnybank House for over 6-years. She has been cared for to the highest standard by staff at all levels. She is settled and happy in a very friendly environment. During the pandemic, the well-being of residents has been of paramount importance with visits being carefully orchestrated
to ensure health and safety requirements are fully complied with. Although during this period, visiting has of necessity been restricted, Mum remains happy, as fit as a 99-year-old can hope to be, and well cared for. I am totally happy with the care and attention she receives at Sunnybank House.

Having had personal experience of a number of local homes, Sunnybank House makes a truly refreshing change. The facilities are excellent and well cared for but this isn't what makes Sunnybank so exceptional. It's the genuine love and dedication of a remarkable team of people that sets the home apart.
The care provided has far exceeded expectation and, having agonized over our decision, we now realize that we could and probably should have made this change far sooner.

Most importantly, the residents are treated not just as older people but as the diverse, fascinating individuals they are. The respect and dignity afforded to the lucky, happy band of residents is lovely to see and we already feel like part of an extended family.

Nothing is too much trouble. Communication with us has been caring and thoughtful. We are delighted by the way that such a positive step was possible despite the extra challenges presented by the pandemic.

Thank you all so much.

Sunnybank is a fantastic care home. The staff are efficient, friendly and always keep you updated with the residents' health. My father went to Sunnybank on the 4th March for 2 weeks respite while I took a holiday. Upon my return, I was ill with flu-like symptoms and asked if Dad could stay for another
2 weeks. This was no problem. During this time the country went into lock-down because of COVID-19 and so Dad has remained with them until now. Sunnybank were very accommodating and although I have not been able to visit, they arranged for a telephone in Dad's room so we could at least speak on a regular basis.

It has been an absolute pleasure meeting yourself, your Dad and your other family members. We very much enjoy your Dad's company and it is a pleasure to help care for him. Thank you again.

My father had a stroke just before the Coronavirus epidemic started. Sunnybank staff were so kind and managed to liaise with the hospital to get my father safely admitted just before the lockdown started. Despite the obvious difficulties of the timing, the wonderful staff at Sunnybank settled him in
well and helped me enormously with everything that needed to be done.
His room is comfortable, the staff professional and caring and the food excellent. I cannot praise it highly enough.

My dad had been in two care homes prior to Sunnybank House. When he arrived at Sunnybank the staff were amazing. The admission manager was also very caring during that process. Carers have engaged with my dad in a fantastic way and he smiles much more now. The activities and stimulation are first class.

This is the first time I have put my husband into respite, and was not sure what to do - or even that I wanted to leave him, but, from the first contact with the care home (I called in unannounced) I was put at ease and shown around - which told me they had nothing to hide. Everyone I met that day and
on subsequent visits was lovely - happy, smiley compassionate and approachable. When I dropped my husband off, he stayed happily ( I was concerned, he wouldn't stay) and when I picked him up, he appeared happy and relaxed.

My mother recently stayed in the home for 2 weeks of respite care in the dementia unit. The home was light and airy, the rooms were large and immaculate and there was an atmosphere of calm in the home, especially in the communal areas. The staff appeared to genuinely care for the residents and my mother
was well looked after. There was feedback available when we called, visiting was never a problem and all of the other visitors or family members that I met also had the opinion that this was one of the nicest homes in the area.

My mother moved into Sunnybank initially short term following a hospital stay and fall, arriving with a fractured shoulder. She was instantly made very welcome and the kindness of the staff quickly began to alleviate all her concerns about being 'in a home'. A little reluctantly, she eventually decided
to stay long term, realising that she was at some considerable risk living alone. Happily, even whilst keenly feeling the loss of her own home, she has realised the benefits of having such a high level of care and knows that she made the right decision. For the family, this has meant a level of peace of mind about her safety, which we have not had for some while and the support that we also have received from the staff is heartwarming - they have been excellent through several emergency hospital visits and poorly spells and kept us informed at every stage. We are all extremely grateful to everyone at Sunnybank for all they do.

My father was at Sunnybank House for 7-months. He was treated with care and respect at all times despite being a little difficult at times.
The decor is very good, and the rooms comfortable. The food was excellent, and the little extra touches were much appreciated. As family members, we were always
welcome and able to make cups of tea and enjoy the delicious cakes and biscuits.
The carers were patient under difficult circumstances, and we very much appreciated their kindness.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.900)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.900) out of 10 for Sunnybank House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 42 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Sunnybank House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (447 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 492 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sunnybank House Care Home is based on 42 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 42 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

What I Do:
As General Manager of Sunnybank House, it’s my absolute pleasure to welcome you to our home. I work closely with every department to ensure we deliver an exceptional experience for all our residents, rooted in kindness, quality, and a shared commitment to excellence.

You’ll often find me out and about in the home, engaging with residents, listening to their feedback, and collaborating on new ideas that help us continue to grow and improve. I’m also deeply passionate about team development, working side by side with my Sunnybank colleagues to ensure they feel empowered, supported, and inspired to provide the best possible care.

My Experience:
My journey in care began at age 15, washing dishes in my local nursing home—and I’ve never looked back. That early experience sparked a lasting passion for supporting others and set me on a path of learning and leadership.

Since then, I’ve embraced every opportunity to grow, working in every role within the home—including the occasional stint in the kitchen! I’ve held leadership positions in both small and large organisations at home, regional, and operational levels. But my heart belongs to home management, where I can be part of residents’ lives and see the impact of meaningful care each and every day.

About Me:
When I’m not at work, you’ll find me staying active at the gym, unwinding at the cinema, or enjoying peaceful hours by the water with a fishing rod in hand.

My Experience: With a strong background in dementia care, I’ve completed extensive training in supporting individuals living with dementia. I hold a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care and am currently working toward my Level 5. I’m passionate about helping team members grow and thrive, and I take great satisfaction in coaching and supporting staff to reach their full potential.

My Experience: With over 18 years in the healthcare sector, I bring a solid medical foundation and hands-on clinical expertise shaped across various care settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and specialist dementia and residential care. My journey has taken me through many roles, each one contributing to the leader I am today. I hold an RQF Level 6 qualification (equivalent to SCQF Level 10 / CQFW Level 6), a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, and proudly completed the Lead to Succeed certification with Cinnamon. I have a particular passion and depth of experience in supporting those living with dementia.

About Me: I'm happily married with two wonderful children, and when I’m not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my family—whether we’re out walking, sharing a meal, or simply relaxing at home with a plate of our favourite traditional dishes. I’m also a big football fan, and if you hear “You’ll never walk alone,” you’ll know exactly which team has my heart!

What I Do

I’m the Lead Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coordinator here at Sunnybank House. I work closely with my team to provide our residents with a varied and exciting diary of activities, week after week. We encourage residents to continue with lifelong interests and hobbies, whilst creating and embracing new experiences and learning.

I believe life is for living, nurturing new friendships and making memories, all of which we encourage at Sunnybank.

My Experience

My journey at Sunnybank House started as a volunteer. The experience I gained during that time was invaluable and made me well placed for undertaking my current role. My past career path had been in Hospitality and Catering, providing me with many transferable skills and a love of working as part of a team.

About Me

I’m married with four grown-up children and a much-loved Labrador. In my spare time, I enjoy nothing more than a good book and a large cup of coffee or a walk with family in the beautiful Hampshire countryside… life’s simple pleasures.
