What I Do:
As General Manager of Sunnybank House, it’s my absolute pleasure to welcome you to our home. I work closely with every department to ensure we deliver an exceptional experience for all our residents, rooted in kindness, quality, and a shared commitment to excellence.
You’ll often find me out and about in the home, engaging with residents, listening to their feedback, and collaborating on new ideas that help us continue to grow and improve. I’m also deeply passionate about team development, working side by side with my Sunnybank colleagues to ensure they feel empowered, supported, and inspired to provide the best possible care.
My Experience:
My journey in care began at age 15, washing dishes in my local nursing home—and I’ve never looked back. That early experience sparked a lasting passion for supporting others and set me on a path of learning and leadership.
Since then, I’ve embraced every opportunity to grow, working in every role within the home—including the occasional stint in the kitchen! I’ve held leadership positions in both small and large organisations at home, regional, and operational levels. But my heart belongs to home management, where I can be part of residents’ lives and see the impact of meaningful care each and every day.
About Me:
When I’m not at work, you’ll find me staying active at the gym, unwinding at the cinema, or enjoying peaceful hours by the water with a fishing rod in hand.
My Role: I joined Cinnamon in September 2022 and proudly serve as Deputy Manager at Sunnybank House. In this role, I support the smooth day-to-day running of the home, making sure the needs, wishes, and preferences of both residents and their families are always heard and respected.
My Experience: With a strong background in dementia care, I’ve completed extensive training in supporting individuals living with dementia. I hold a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care and am currently working toward my Level 5. I’m passionate about helping team members grow and thrive, and I take great satisfaction in coaching and supporting staff to reach their full potential.
About Me: Outside of work, I love spending quality time with my family, catching up with friends, and simply unwinding in good company.
What I do
As the home admissions advisor at Sunnybank, I’m here to support and advise potential residents and their loved ones through this important decision. I guide people through the admissions journey at a pace that feels comfortable, answering questions and helping everyone feel confident and supported. I work closely with the team to make each transition into Sunnybank House as smooth and personal as possible.
My experience
With over 10 years’ experience in the wedding industry, I’ve enjoyed supporting people through some of life’s most emotional, exciting, and occasionally unpredictable moments with a friendly smile and the belief that a little kindness goes a very long way. I enjoy helping people feel at ease, understanding their choices clearly, and feeling confident in the decisions ahead.
About me
I’m married with three teenagers, which means I’m highly trained in diplomacy, patience, and mastering the art of being heard over headphones. When I’m not helping families settle into Sunnybank House, you’ll usually find me enjoying live music or at home indulging in my love of wine and cheese!
My Role: I’m actively involved in overseeing care practices across Sunnybank House, ensuring the highest standards of care are upheld every day. I see myself as a strong and positive link of communication to residents, families, the management team, and care staff, as well as building trusted relationships with external professionals. I proudly lead our clinical rounds and foster excellent partnerships with all stakeholders. Mentoring and developing team members is a passion of mine—encouraging them to grow in confidence, skill, and compassion to provide the very best care to our lovely residents.
My Experience: With over 18 years in the healthcare sector, I bring a solid medical foundation and hands-on clinical expertise shaped across various care settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and specialist dementia and residential care. My journey has taken me through many roles, each one contributing to the leader I am today. I hold an RQF Level 6 qualification (equivalent to SCQF Level 10 / CQFW Level 6), a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, and proudly completed the Lead to Succeed certification with Cinnamon. I have a particular passion and depth of experience in supporting those living with dementia.
About Me: I'm happily married with two wonderful children, and when I’m not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my family—whether we’re out walking, sharing a meal, or simply relaxing at home with a plate of our favourite traditional dishes. I’m also a big football fan, and if you hear “You’ll never walk alone,” you’ll know exactly which team has my heart!
What I Do
I’m the Lead Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coordinator here at Sunnybank House. I work closely with my team to provide our residents with a varied and exciting diary of activities, week after week. We encourage residents to continue with lifelong interests and hobbies, whilst creating and embracing new experiences and learning.
I believe life is for living, nurturing new friendships and making memories, all of which we encourage at Sunnybank.
My Experience
My journey at Sunnybank House started as a volunteer. The experience I gained during that time was invaluable and made me well placed for undertaking my current role. My past career path had been in Hospitality and Catering, providing me with many transferable skills and a love of working as part of a team.
About Me
I’m married with four grown-up children and a much-loved Labrador. In my spare time, I enjoy nothing more than a good book and a large cup of coffee or a walk with family in the beautiful Hampshire countryside… life’s simple pleasures.
What I do:
I'm thrilled to have joined the team at Sunnybank House this year, where I lead a dedicated kitchen team passionate about delivering a delicious and nutritious dining experience for our residents. We take great pride in using fresh, seasonal ingredients and work closely with trusted suppliers to make this possible.
My Experience:
With over 45 years in hospitality and catering, my background spans fine dining, sports and historic venues, pub management, and the care sector. I spent two decades as Catering and Hospitality Manager at Salisbury Cathedral, where I had the privilege of catering for Their Majesties Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III, among many others.
About me:
A true Sussex native, I enjoy relaxing holidays, tackling DIY projects, getting my hands dirty in the garden, and cheering on the mighty Brighton & Hove Albion. I've been happily married to Ellen for 36 years; together we share two grown-up children, two very grown-up stepchildren, and our loyal black lab, Harvey.
What I do:
As Housekeeping Supervisor, I lead our dedicated team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents. I ensure that high standards are met across housekeeping services, including laundry, so that everyone feels truly at home.
My Experience:
I began my journey at Sunnybank House as a Care Assistant before transitioning to the housekeeping team. After gaining hands-on experience as a Housekeeping Assistant, I stepped into my current role as Housekeeping Supervisor—committed to quality, teamwork, and care in everything I do.
About me:
I love spending time with my family and particularly like going for lovely walks in the countryside
I am conscientious about keeping Sunnybank House well-maintained and safe for our Residents. There are a lot of hidden checks and Statutory inspections that I like to keep up to date.
The most satisfying part is helping the residents make their rooms personal to them, whether hanging pictures or organising their rooms to their liking.
Having worked at Sunnybank for 7 years, all the residents know me well and I have a great relationship with all of them.
My Experience
I worked in the construction industry for 30 years and found the experience gained invaluable in my current role. I was the first employee at Sunnybank House and was responsible for overseeing the handover of the building in 2014.
About Me
I like watching my local Premier League and cricket teams live and attending concerts.
My two daughters and dog keep me busy
My Role: I’ve been part of the Sunnybank House family for nearly 11 years, having joined as a Senior Care Assistant when the home first opened. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to develop my skills, achieving my QCF Level 5 Manager’s qualification and progressing toward my goal of becoming a Care Coordinator—a role where I can truly apply my knowledge and passion for care.
My Experience: Sunnybank House feels like my second home. I love seeing the residents each day and supporting them in leading enriched, fulfilling lives. In my current role, I’m committed to ensuring that high-quality, person-centred care is consistently delivered. I listen carefully to residents’ concerns, monitor the daily delivery of care, and make sure that care plans reflect each individual’s needs, preferences, and desire for independence.
About Me: When I’m not at work, I enjoy quality time with my family and getting out and about on local day trips. Relaxing at home is my way of recharging and staying balanced, ready to give my best each day.
