After looking at several other homes, we chose Sunnybank House Care Home and boy are we glad we did. The welcome my mother-in-law received was second to none, the staff and management took time to settle her in which we all knew would take time but nothing is too much trouble. We were made to feel at
home, being reminded that this is her new home and we were welcome to come and see her whenever we pleased. The room she has is great, with a large bathroom, always clean, and fresh towels every day. The food, in my opinion, is exceptionally freshly cooked, great presentation in a lovely restaurant setting. The choices are very very good and that is what Sunnybank seems to be, all about choices. The residents can stay in their rooms, go to the lounges, go into the gardens, join in on the various activities or go to the entertainments. It's all about choice thank God. One last thing, at Sunnybank all the staff treat the residents with kindness, dignity and patience.

My uncle spent the last few weeks of his life being looked after by Cinnamon and the staff were wonderful.
Nothing was too much trouble, every effort was made to make him comfortable and at ease during his stay.
I was kept well informed of any changes in medication and told how his days were spent
and what activities he became interested in.
I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending any Cimmamon care home to friends and relatives.

My step mother has been in Sunnybank House for 18 months. Initially, she was on the residential floor and is now on the nursing floor. Sunnybank House was chosen as it is very welcoming, clean and has excellent staff. My step mum praises the food and enjoys the varied entertainment. Since arriving,
at Sunnybank House, my step mother has transformed from a frail person into a happy well-cared for individual who still has a quality of life. I would have no hesitation recommending this home to anyone.

Led by a caring and passionate manager who will do anything in her power to make sure everyone is happy. This is reflected in her team and residents.


Dad has dementia and loves rice pudding with a dollop of jam in it, he will want it every day and they make sure he gets it. There are activities every

day to keep everyone motivated. I'm so grateful we found Sunnybank for Dad's forever home.

Sunnybank House is a modern purpose built care home. To the rear, there are patio seating areas for residents with a nice garden and all securely fenced. There are car parking facilities but parking spaces for visitors can sometimes be hard to find. Inside, the reception area is welcoming and entry
controlled by a receptionist. This area is also used by a visiting hairdresser and manicurist. The corridors are wide and airy and give a feeling of space. The dining room, lounge and quiet room make it homely. Resident's rooms are of a good size and en-suite. Residents are free to personalise their rooms. The carers are just that; caring, attentive and compassionate and treat the residents as individuals. No matter what, they always seem to smile. The other front of house staff (cleaners, laundry, maintenance) are no different. There is a good working relationship with the local GP surgery.


We count ourselves lucky that we found Sunnybank House to look after Mum in these final years.

I cannot recommend this care home more highly.
My wife has Alzheimer's Dementia and has been a resident for almost two years.
The care she gets is exceptional.
I see her nearly every day and she is always well dressed.
The home is spotless throughout and the staff very welcoming and helpful.
They
take great care to include her in the daily activities even though she cannot now communicate.
She settled in immediately she went there (after a bad experience in a previous home) and I know that she is very well cared for, which gives me great peace of mind.

My Mother moved into Sunnybank House, on to the dementia floor, in September 2014 just after it opened. The staff were friendly and caring and Mum settled in immediately and was very happy. In the two and a half years since then, there have been five different managers plus a high turnover of carers
and a change of ownership. Despite all that Mum received very good care and remained happy and contented. Sunnybank is always well maintained and clean and the food is very good and plentiful. Management and carers were always happy to discuss the care of my Mother with us if we had any concerns.
Residents have a variety of activities and entertainments to keep them stimulated and active. There is hope that the long awaited mini bus will arrive soon to enable residents to go on occasional outings.

My initial impressions of Sunnybank House on an unannounced inspection were very positive. It looked attractive, welcoming, spotlessly clean and extremely friendly. The rooms were a good size, well appointed with good furnishings. The general rooms were bright and cheerful with no hint of an institution.
A greeting card from the staff welcomed my husband and he was quickly allowed into the family. All carers were kind and supportive. All residents were treated with dignity and as individuals. Everyone you encountered was similarly helpful and smiling. There were outside entertainers, parties and alfresco lunches when the summer weather was suitable when my husband's condition deteriorated he spent a brief period in hospital and his relief on returning to the nursing home at Sunnybank House was palpable. He received such loving care in the last week of his life, he could not have had a more peaceful end. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sunnybank House to anyone.

My mother had so much love and expert care in equal amounts at Sunnybank House. They took her straight from hospital in a terrible state and gave her back her dignity, re-gained her ability to enjoy life and nursed her lovingly until she passed away. What more could one ask of a nursing home? The staff
are excellent, the ethos is one of dignity and enjoyment of life for the residents and the home is five star.

My mother moved to Suunybank House in November 2014. From feeling isolated in her flat, as she became more infirm, she immediately had the reassurance of kind and supportive staff, and the company of others. The rooms are spacious with large en-suites, attractively decorated and kept clean and fresh.
The communal rooms are brightly decorated and activities are organised on all three floors for a change of scene. Family and visitors are always welcomed.


The daily activities include crafts such as making cards, painting, cooking and physical activities, such as simple ball games etc. which can cause much merriment. Of course, these activities are purely voluntary. Regular visits by a variety of entertainers are arranged and there are attractive grounds for occasional garden parties.
I would highly recommend this care home to others.

As General Manager of Sunnybank House, it’s my absolute pleasure to welcome you to our home. I work closely with every department to ensure we deliver an exceptional experience for all our residents, rooted in kindness, quality, and a shared commitment to excellence.


You’ll often find me out and about in the home, engaging with residents, listening to their feedback, and collaborating on new ideas that help us continue to grow and improve. I’m also deeply passionate about team development, working side by side with my Sunnybank colleagues to ensure they feel empowered, supported, and inspired to provide the best possible care.


My Experience:
My journey in care began at age 15, washing dishes in my local nursing home—and I’ve never looked back. That early experience sparked a lasting passion for supporting others and set me on a path of learning and leadership.


Since then, I’ve embraced every opportunity to grow, working in every role within the home—including the occasional stint in the kitchen! I’ve held leadership positions in both small and large organisations at home, regional, and operational levels. But my heart belongs to home management, where I can be part of residents’ lives and see the impact of meaningful care each and every day.

About Me:
Outside of work, I stay active and grounded by keeping up my fitness, taking long walks with my dog, and enjoying precious time with my grandchildren. I especially love weekend escapes in our caravan with my husband—nothing beats that sense of peace and recharge in the countryside.

My Experience: With a strong background in dementia care, I’ve completed extensive training in supporting individuals living with dementia. I hold a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care and am currently working toward my Level 5. My Role I joined Cinnamon in December 2022 as one of the Activity Coordinators at Sunnybank House, where I’ve had the joy of working alongside a dedicated team to provide a wide range of engaging activities for our residents. Since 1st May 2023, I’ve proudly stepped into the role of Senior Wellbeing Lead, with a focus on developing new activity ideas, strengthening intergenerational connections, and welcoming volunteers to support and enrich our growing programme.


My Experience My career began in stroke rehabilitation, where I spent 14 years throughout the late ’80s and ’90s before transitioning into community care. I bring valuable experience as an events coordinator, which complements my current role beautifully. Over the years, I’ve also worked closely with people living with dementia and have completed training tailored to providing meaningful support in this area. Drawing on all these experiences, I’m passionate about creating moments that matter for our residents and their families.


About Me Born and raised in Hampshire, I now call Fair Oak home. My partner and I have been together for 19 years, and we both love walking, gardening, and soaking up peaceful countryside escapes. It’s these simple pleasures that help keep me grounded and inspired in the work I do.

Oliver Rivera

Job Title: Hospitality Supervisor Joined: 2014

What I do:
My role is to provide excellent customer service, ensuring the residents are comfortable and happy. To work with the catering team, support the dining areas at meal times, ensuring that the highest standards are met. To make sure the home is kept clean to the highest standard, safe and accommodating to everyone.


My experience:
I have studied back home in the Philippines in Hotel and Restaurant management at a university, gaining hands-on experience in a hotel and fine dining restaurant. As I moved here to England, I have worked in a hotel and in a care home. Then I joined here in Sunnybank House as a housekeeper then became a head housekeeper. Now, as I take a new role as Hospitality Supervisor.
About me:
I like spending time with my family like exploring new places, travelling and experiencing outdoor adventure like camping and mountain biking.

Ross

Ross Hatton

Job Title: Maintenance Manager Joined: 2014

I am conscientious about keeping Sunnybank House well-maintained and safe for our Residents. There are a lot of hidden checks and Statutory inspections that I like to keep up to date.


The most satisfying part is helping the residents make their rooms personal to them, whether hanging pictures or organising their rooms to their liking.


Having worked at Sunnybank for 7 years, all the residents know me well and I have a great relationship with all of them.


My Experience
I worked in the construction industry for 30 years and found the experience gained invaluable in my current role. I was the first employee at Sunnybank House and was responsible for overseeing the handover of the building in 2014.

Mariana Butunoi

Job Title: Housekeeping Supervisor Joined: 2019

What I do:
As Housekeeping Supervisor, I lead our dedicated team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents. I ensure that high standards are met across housekeeping services, including laundry, so that everyone feels truly at home.


My Experience:
I began my journey at Sunnybank House as a Care Assistant before transitioning to the housekeeping team. After gaining hands-on experience as a Housekeeping Assistant, I stepped into my current role as Housekeeping Supervisor—committed to quality, teamwork, and care in everything I do.

I love spending time with my family and particularly like going for lovely walks in the countryside

What I Do:
I recently joined the team after hearing such wonderful things about the home, and I’m proud to now be part of it. My role focuses on supporting the day-to-day running of the home, helping things run smoothly while being a consistent presence for both residents and staff. It’s a privilege to work alongside a dedicated team and share each day with the incredible people who live here.


My Experience:
With over 25 years in the care sector, I’ve built a broad foundation across a variety of settings—from private homes and charitable organisations to domiciliary care and training. Along the way, I’ve gained valuable qualifications, developed a deep understanding of care practices, and continuously strengthened my skills. I believe in lifelong learning and approach each day as a new opportunity to grow and support others.


About Me:
Outside of work, I enjoy keeping active and spending quality time with my family. Staying fit and embracing those everyday moments help keep me balanced and energised.

Kevin Oborne

What I do:
I'm thrilled to have joined the team at Sunnybank House this year, where I lead a dedicated kitchen team passionate about delivering a delicious and nutritious dining experience for our residents. We take great pride in using fresh, seasonal ingredients and work closely with trusted suppliers to make this possible.


My Experience:
With over 45 years in hospitality and catering, my background spans fine dining, sports and historic venues, pub management, and the care sector. I spent two decades as Catering and Hospitality Manager at Salisbury Cathedral, where I had the privilege of catering for Their Majesties Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III, among many others.


About me:
A true Sussex native, I enjoy relaxing holidays, tackling DIY projects, getting my hands dirty in the garden, and cheering on the mighty Brighton & Hove Albion. I've been happily married to Ellen for 36 years; together we share two grown-up children, two very grown-up stepchildren, and our loyal black lab, Harvey.

My Role: I’m actively involved in overseeing care practices across Sunnybank House, ensuring the highest standards of care are upheld every day. I see myself as a strong and positive link of communication to residents, families, the management team, and care staff, as well as building trusted relationships with external professionals. I proudly lead our clinical rounds and foster excellent partnerships with all stakeholders. Mentoring and developing team members is a passion of mine—encouraging them to grow in confidence, skill, and compassion to provide the very best care to our lovely residents.


My Experience: With over 18 years in the healthcare sector, I bring a solid medical foundation and hands-on clinical expertise shaped across various care settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and specialist dementia and residential care. My journey has taken me through many roles, each one contributing to the leader I am today. I hold an RQF Level 6 qualification (equivalent to SCQF Level 10 / CQFW Level 6), a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, and proudly completed the Lead to Succeed certification with Cinnamon. I have a particular passion and depth of experience in supporting those living with dementia.


About Me: I'm happily married with two wonderful children, and when I’m not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my family—whether we’re out walking, sharing a meal, or simply relaxing at home with a plate of our favourite traditional dishes. I’m also a big football fan, and if you hear “You’ll never walk alone,” you’ll know exactly which team has my heart!

My Role: I’ve been part of the Sunnybank House family for nearly 11 years, having joined as a Senior Care Assistant when the home first opened. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to develop my skills, achieving my QCF Level 5 Manager’s qualification and progressing toward my goal of becoming a Care Coordinator—a role where I can truly apply my knowledge and passion for care.


My Experience: Sunnybank House feels like my second home. I love seeing the residents each day and supporting them in leading enriched, fulfilling lives. In my current role, I’m committed to ensuring that high-quality, person-centred care is consistently delivered. I listen carefully to residents’ concerns, monitor the daily delivery of care, and make sure that care plans reflect each individual’s needs, preferences, and desire for independence.


About Me: When I’m not at work, I enjoy quality time with my family and getting out and about on local day trips. Relaxing at home is my way of recharging and staying balanced, ready to give my best each day.
