From the very first day my Aunt came to live at Scarlet House, she has been welcomed and made to feel special and valued.
Every member of the staff there has been most helpful, friendly, warming and caring.
Whenever I call to visit her, the staff are always welcoming and caring.

I would like to extend my grateful thanks for everything they have done for my Aunt, and for being such a friendly, efficient and welcoming team.

We are so appreciative of the quality of care my mother has received since she moved to Scarlet House on a respite contract in September. She was in a very fragile state having spent the previous 4 months in hospital, at times, critically ill.

It has not been an easy transition for her to make but every member of staff at Scarlet House made her - and us - feel welcome and reassured. Having visited a number of homes prior to choosing Scarlet House, the stand out features for me are the bright and cheerful environment, the range and frequency of activities for residents, the personal attention and care offered and the way in which relatives/friends are made to feel very comfortable as visitors and carers. The difference in my mother's condition within a month was remarkable and she began to be able to do things again that she had not been able to for some time before her hospital stay - exercising, going out to the cinema, improving her mobility and socialising.

My brother and I are very happy that our mother is a resident now in Scarlet House, following a period of respite care at the home after a long hospital stay. She is very settled in her room and so much less anxious than when she was trying to cope in her own home. The staff are most attentive and caring - nothing is too much trouble - and they go about their responsibilities with cheerfulness and professionalism. I am kept informed when my mother is unwell or just not her usual self. There is a genuine family feel about Scarlet House, making the home feel really like a "home".

As a family, we are extremely happy with Scarlet House. On entering the building there is always a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Excellent facilities for the residents and always something to occupy the residents on a daily basis. Staff are extremely helpful day to day. Regularly asked if, as relatives of the residents, there is any more that can be done or improve on with regards to the level of care. The answer is almost always no as we are kept well informed.

My sister and I have visited our dad on Ocean floor 3 times from Canada. Each time we are absolutely amazed with the care and love that each staff member shows to all residents here.

They go out of their way to serve both residents and guests with utmost in concern and care. So accommodating, kind and we are so grateful for this "above and beyond" care given to our father. Thank you!

We chose Scarlet House for my father who had Alzheimer's, the home is modern and has a lovely coffee shop and some lovely staff although we felt that care and activities were definitely focused on the mentally more able residents downstairs. Staff moved between the normal residential care and upstairs into the Dementia 'wing' and this meant that care was not consistent in its approach. Unfortunately, the home decided they could not cope with my father's behaviour and asked us to remove him (very stressful with no prior warning). Thankfully this worked out perfectly, moving to a different charity run local specialist dementia only home where his problem behaviours vanished overnight.

We decided to move my Aunt to Scarlett House in the spring of 2018 after a brief spell in hospital and because she was very unhappy about returning to her previous care home.

The staff at Scarlett House handled the whole process extremely effectively and as a family we felt the standard of care was excellent and a significant improvement on her previous facility.

My Aunt sadly died at the end of June but we cannot fault the care she received during her brief stay and would not hesitate in recommending Scarlett House to others.

I am generally very happy with the care given to my uncle.
Some issues I have previously raised do not appear to have been dealt with (ie arranging support tights for very swollen legs).
While his personal care is well maintained, I would really appreciate more time being spent with him to encourage him to interact and hopefully get involved in some activities

I think there should be more TV channels available for residents.

Reply from Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at Scarlet House

Adrian BoldogJob Title:Home Manager

Becoming a Home Manager at Scarlet House has been the highlight of my career so far. Before this, I was working as a Team Leader. I really wanted an opportunity to progress in my career, and that’s something Care UK has offered.

As Home Manager, it’s important to be caring, compassionate and have a good eye for detail. You also need to have good interpersonal skills and be diligent, hardworking and committed to the home.

I love seeing the residents enjoying activities in the home – it's my favourite part of my working day. I’m proud to work with a fantastic team that makes a difference in residents’ day-to-day lives.

Outside of work, I enjoy family life, and my other interests include music and cars.
