Overall Experience

My mother is in the nursing wing of Linden House. As her condition progresses, she needs more care and understanding and all the staff give her this care with kindly patience. She is unable to attend activities but benefits from the one to one attention of the activities support carers. A recent birthday was memorable and she so enjoyed a lovely birthday cake and presents. I have found recent changes in her difficult to deal with, but the nurses have supported me when I became upset and are helping me to continue to support the mother I love. She can become anxious and agitated but these moments are dealt with kindly and promptly. I am happy to go away on holiday for I know she will be well looked after. I know that I would be contacted should her condition deteriorate while I am away. Mother greatly enjoys her lunch. Special thanks to the laundry staff for keeping her clothes so clean and nice.

Staff always helpful and caring to myself and my aunt. She is almost immobile but the nursing staff come to her aid quickly when needed.

They keep me informed by telephone if she has a fall. The management were very considerate and understanding when I requested a change of room for her.

My uncle has been a resident at Linden House for two years. He is so happy there. They provide him with at least four activities with others every day and trips out at least twice a week. This is far more than he would have if he were living alone. The staff are always helpful and polite when I have a question. They treat the residents with care and dignity. My wife is a registered nurse, and we spent a lot of time searching for the right home for him. My son and his wife are GP's and have visited the home and agree that the care is excellent.

I and my whole family are delighted with all standards of care, cleanliness, meals, snacks- in fact everything at Linden House. My mother has settled in beautifully and is as happy as she could be in the circumstances. Activities are numerous and excellent. The biggest benefit to me is peace of mind knowing mother is in excellent care hands.

Linden House provided excellent standards of care, love and compassion to my auntie throughout her time there prior to her passing away on 21/2/16. My auntie was always kept spotlessly clean as were her room and surroundings. Everything was available to make her comfortable when her health deteriorated and the staff support was very intense. Not only was the care and support excellent for my auntie but to her family as well.

It was a daunting decision to let our mum go in a nursing home, but she is hurting herself more and more so falling was a real concern for us. This home is clean, very comfortable and the staff have the time to be caring and the sensitivity that you would wish for your mum. The staff also seem to care for family as well. Lots of times I have been asked if I'm OK. We stay all day with mum and are never made to feel in the way. One particular carer is such a lovely carer, she certainly has a gift and is a credit to Linden House.

Décor was delightful and warm, wish a more hands on approach could have been encouraged as touching and feeling are so important to dementia sufferers. More important than impressing visitors I feel. The carers had all been well trained and were so caring and kind as were the nursing staff. I always felt reassured that my mum was clean, well fed and cared for by your wonderful hands on staff. As she was so far away from me I was unable to see her on a daily basis and had to rely on carers to meet her needs, this made me sad and was not what I wanted but I had great faith in the care and compassion of so many carers and felt she was in good hands. I felt the management of both Linden House and Court Lodge failed me. Despite writing phone numbers and emails for them I, as the next of kin, received no information even during the last hours of my mum's life. I begged for this but was always sad to find my brother in law was next of kin and informed, so I knew nothing.

Reply from Elaine Farrer, Assistant Marketing Manager at Linden House

We’re concerned and sorry that you didn’t receive the information you wanted. We did communicate regularly with your sister and brother-in-law as they were the stated points of contact our team members used. These were the preferences we were given and we have checked but cannot find anything in...

My mother-in-law had been in Linden House from when it opened in April 2014 until her death in November 2015. The care she received was excellent. The activities, food, gardens and the general ambience of the home was top class. The home was always very welcoming to visitors, and made us all feel part of the home. My mother-in-law was extremely happy there, and thoroughly enjoyed her last 18 months.

This is the first time my dad has been in a home. It's been a very weird experience, you have highs and lows and it's very emotional at times. The care is excellent, the staff are very kind and friendly. The reception staff are kind, dad has settled in very well. I feel I could talk to any of the nursing staff if I feel dad dad had not had a good day.

This is the first care home for my husband. I was pleased on the reception we had. I found it very modern and up to date and it lifted my spirits. The reception staff were really friendly and put me and my daughter who came with me at ease. Now my husband is in a routine, he's settled down nicely and every possible thing is done to make him feel comfortable. The nursing staff are wonderful to him - top marks to them, and also the staff who always welcome us.

My aunt come in for 2 weeks respite care. The managercame to our home to assess my auntie at a time to suit us. My aunt was booked in to have her hair done on arrival to avoid distress (so she wouldn't be upset seeing me leave).
She was looked after well during her stay.

The manager kept her an extra day to help us out with picking her up.
