When you trust a care centre to look after your loved one, you want the staff to care for them but also to go that extra mile to make life feel secure and homely. The staff at Ashwood Care Centre go even more than that mile. Nothing is too much trouble. They work as a true team to make every resident feel loved.

The standard of care and compassion is incredible. My family has been going through a very hard time with the loss of a family member. OSJCT Ashwood could not do enough to assist our family. Everything we needed they were thinking about before us. They are happy, kind, caring and loving to residents and their families. Thank you to the manager and her team.

My family and I are so grateful that when I could no longer care properly for my husband, Ashwood accepted him (believing at the time that he was in a more challenging state than he turned out to be). We are so very grateful for the respectful and loving care that he gets. Our minds are easy that he is safe and really cared for in a cheerful atmosphere.

My mother is terminally ill and lived independently until she had a crisis with anxiety. Ashwood staff were very prompt with their response to my request for assistance. Within 20 minutes the administrator was with us taking details and starting the necessary paperwork. When my mother was admitted two days later, everyone was so welcoming and reassuring, putting her at ease so she could relax and feel safe. In the past two weeks, they have made her feel so at home that she doesn't want to leave.

My 89-year-old mother, who is living with the latter stages of Alzheimer's, stayed for sixteen days. I am not at all happy with our experience. Mistakes were made in the initial and replacement contracts.

Each time we phoned the home to enquire of my mother, the staff replies were always so vague and sometimes worrying. On mum’s return home, she was short of some clothing and had another resident’s clothing. She was also missing her ‘end-of-life’ medication. It is stated in a written report that she “…often had days when she remained in bed.”, yet in a following paragraph “She had two days in bed.” and that “Personal care was given on getting up and retiring to bed.” mum is double incontinent. Following her respite, my wife and I each made the mistake of paying the cost of mum’s stay (double payment), but the OSJCT made no attempt to refund the over-payment until I brought it to their attention some months later. It has been an unpleasant experience, and one we will not repeat.

My mum seems very happy with the care she receives. She actually now calls it home. I always receive a phone call if I need to be asked or informed of anything to do with mum.

I have always found Ashwood very caring and helpful in all matters relating to my mum. I think they have coped very well through the pandemic and always letting me know how things are going in the home. Like everyone, just waiting and hoping to get things back to normal.

I have just enjoyed my second stay and have enjoyed every moment. Was greeted on arrival. The care worker who cared for me was first class. All throughout the food was first class. The carers' smiles and laughter made me very comfortable. I made and enjoyed with other residents humour and chat. 90 years and have made a forward booking for March 2022 which I am really looking forward to. Thanking you.

Staff always very cooperative and helpful, especially during the time we are slowly easing out of Covid lockdown.
Staff also very helpful in setting up zoom chats, chats in the garden, and the occasional outing.

Administration is well ordered and as LPOA I feel I do know what is happening. The odd phone call has been very helpful to be aware of changes of circumstances.

From my initial contact when looking for a suitable home for Mum, the staff at Ashwood Care Centre have been helpful, friendly and reassuring. Mum has settled in well and I am pleased to see that the staff are on the ball with her, very aware of her needs and good at contacting me when any issues arise so I am kept informed. It is a great home, and we are all so pleased that a room was available for Mum when she needed it.

The staff do an incredible job, especially in the current very difficult circumstances. They go to great lengths to facilitate regular contact with families even during covid. My siblings and I know Mum is being extremely well looked after which is a huge relief to us and all the family. There are always activities and events going on which provide stimulation and fun for residents.

My mother has been in Ashwood for nearly 5 years. She has always been clean and tidy, all her needs have always been met. She seems to be settled as much as she can be. The staff are always really helpful and supportive of mum and her family. I can't thank them enough for all they have done. They have all become extended family.

Excellent levels of care and empathy for both of my parents. Times have been challenging. My father has Alzheimer's disease and his carers have done everything in their power to keep him united with my mother, who has impaired mobility, living in the same care home. I have been kept fully updated during the pandemic and I am so grateful to know that they are safe, well-fed and well cared for. Thank you!

On entering the home my mother was verbally most unpleasant. She was so angry at being "dumped". This lasted a couple of months. My mother presents herself as being compos mentis but sadly her type of dementia prevents her from knowing what day it is and where her room is. The staff at times forget this! The carers and activity staff have been amazing. They have "turned" my mother around. She is now clean, well-fed and interested in life again. She involves herself totally with all activities. And loves it! Thanks to all the staff!
