My Grandma moved into Gracewell in January 2018 - she lived at home before slowly declining. She has cancer and dementia and slowly lost the ability to look after herself, after her 4th admission to hospital, we made a hard decision to move her into a care home. This is when we discovered the amazing Gracewell of Horley Park a true lifesaver. The staff are the most fantastic group of people I have ever met, the level of care my Grandma receives is outstanding. She has gained weight, is more mobile, and has her spark and smile back - Gracewell is a place of pure happiness, love and compassion - AMAZING.

Lovely staff, very caring attitude and well being of residents.
Food is good and healthy.
Like a second home and not a nursing/care home.

Stands out from the rest - I looked at 14!

Having needed to find a care home for my father, my mother and I visited to review. The Home Admissions Adviser was more than helpful and we immediately decided that Dad would be comfortable in this modern facility. The admission had a few issues but the Admissions Advisor and the team were more than helpful in dealing with delays etc. Since Dad was admitted in September, all the staff have been kind and efficient - meeting the needs of Dad who has vascular dementia and the family. There is regular communication and I would have no hesitation in recommending the home in the future.

I would like to reiterate that the Home Admissions Advisor was very helpful before, during and after the admission procedure.

My gran came to Gracewell at the age of 90 and I cannot express fully how grateful I am for the care from the nurses, healthcare assistants, cleaners and all the other staff, for looking after my gran so well. They all treated her with such dignity and respect and their care for people with dementia is exemplary. Even after her passing in September, the staff support remained and helped us at a challenging time. To the staff, thank you for everything you do. You are all amazing.

Although my mother-in-law had dementia, she always appeared happy.

This was due to the excellent care that she received in the home. The staff knew when to try to get her to do something and when it would not be a good idea. Getting to know the resident was key to her happiness. As visitors, we were always treated well and the facilities for tea and coffee allowed for a break if needed.

Since coming to Gracewell of Horley Park in 2015, my mother has been extremely well cared for. The staff are always welcoming and have kept us informed about mum's care and well being. The premises are always clean. Seeing photos of the activities and mum participating in them made us feel that although she had dementia, there was still a quality of life to be had. Sadly my mum passed away at the end of September 2017 but the care for our family carried on through this difficult time. We had the wake at the home and true to form this was catered for really well. Thank you to all the staff.

I've been at 'Gracewell of Horley Park' since February 2017. The staff are so friendly, food is good and the room is so warm. In fact, I was due to leave on 7th October to go home, but have now decided to stay at the nursing home for the rest of my days.

My dad came to 'Gracewell of Horley Park' after he suffered a stroke. Out of all the nursing homes in the area, we decided Gracewell was the best home for Dad.

The nursing home far exceeds our expectations. The staff are so good to him. I would recommend the home to all my friends and work colleagues. Well done to all the team.

My husband a retired consultant anaesthetist died in 1977, since then I've lived alone in our home in Dorking, care of the house, garden, despite help in both became increasingly difficult. My second son lives in Horley so I moved to Gracewell in 2016 so not to be far from him and his family.

My aunt's friend and I found it very helpful to have a private interview with a senior member of the caring team. It gave us an opportunity to discuss small and also intimate matters concerning my aunt's care. I think it is a very good idea to have a review every few weeks/months knowing it is possible to discuss small issues on a regular basis.

I am so impressed with the amazing facilities and very personal care afforded to my friend.
The team effort and genuine desire to welcome and assist is truly outstanding. The manager and the administrator could not do more to make the transition stress free.
The menus and the desire to please is indeed very unique.
It was so nice to see how all the team, even the chef, came to greet my friend with a plate full of French cheeses.

This is care/customer service at its best.

We are completely satisfied with the care and attention received by my mum. The staff are thoughtful and friendly and are respectful of her privacy, whilst offering support. The facilities are beautiful and well maintained. I think less fancy and more wholesome, plainer food, befitting elderly people would enhance the overall experience.

Review from Carol E (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 June 2017 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The process of having Dad admitted was handled efficiently, but with compassion. Without exception the nursing staff that I have encountered have demonstrated skill and diligence with regard to Dad's treatment, and he is now much improved from when he was discharged from hospital. The nursing staff and the carers are all friendly and compassionate. If Dad needs something that is not routine, they will do their best to accommodate his needs. The same goes for the food. Dad has difficulty swallowing, so his food has to be pureed. However, the chefs have often provided both a pureed and a fork-mashable version of the same food to try to give some variety. Dad's room and the communal areas are spotlessly clean. Having looked at other service providers with a similar fee-structure, Gracewell offers the best value for money. I had dreaded the day that Dad needed to go into a nursing home, but visiting him at Gracewell feels like visiting him at home.

A bright, light and friendly home. A cheerful atmosphere prevails and infectious. The home tries to provide all sorts of activities including those that provide mental stimulation - very important. The way Gracewell is planned is interesting - four separate interconnected buildings, 15 rooms in each which gives a friendly, personal atmosphere.
