The majority of the people who work here are friendly & understanding. The food is excellent. My room is well-equipped and comfortable. The laundry & cleaning staff are very helpful. The activities are varied - plenty of options available.

Mum has had previous stays for convalescence post surgery and for respite to cover a family holiday, and has always been very happy and well looked after. This time it was an emergency post-surgery for nursing care. Once again, she is happy to be here with staff who know her and go to great lengths to care for her and make her stay as happy as possible. She loves the exercise classes and welcomes the church service on a Sunday.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are glad to hear that your mum has enjoyed her respite stays at Heol Don and we are pleased to hear that she enjoyed the numerous activities and services that the home has to offer. Hopefully you will go away from this feeling like your loved one received the best possible care.
My father-in-law requires quite a high level of nursing care. This care commitment has increased over the last few years that he's been at this care home. Even though he's high maintenance, he is included in every activity that they offer at the centre. This is so reassuring to know as some of the days I'm sure could appear to him to be long. The activities on offer are varied and I always feel appropriate to all ages and abilities. Indoors or outdoors (whether permitting), the activities vary from hands on to full participation (live entertainment). I'm always pleased to hear about what's on offer that week from the weekly diary he's given at the start of the week.
Thank you for your kind review. It is so wonderful to hear that your Father In Law is enjoying the variety of activities that are provided and that he feels like a part of our Heol Don family. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your loved one in our care and please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your Father In Law's stay as comfortable as possible.
My mother experienced a number of seizures during a meal time, which is a very busy time. The staff were outstanding. From the house keeping staff to qualified staff members both carers and nurses, they helped with my mother not just with the initial first aid but the whole package of care. She arrived to hospital safely and then after being discharged from the hospital they were very warm with their welcome back. It is so reassuring that there is a high level of professionalism within all members of the staff team at this centre.
Thank you for your lovely words. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time and we are happy to hear that you and your Mother feel supported by our staff at Heol Don Care Home. We are so pleased to hear you feel like a part of our Heol Don family. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.
Father enjoyed his stay in what he came to speak of as his home. Staff not only cared for him but also treated him as a friend.

I travel from overseas to visit my relative every year. I am always impressed by the facilities and the level of care provided. Despite the long gaps between my visits, the staff remember me by name and are always friendly and helpful. The manager has always provided assistance when asked and facilitated my ongoing communication between my relative and me when I am overseas. Thank you.

Everyone in the home makes it feel like my home. Staff are friendly, always willing to accommodate my needs. The housekeeping team go above and beyond for me. The SHK even does my shopping regularly. Couldn't manage without her.

The staff in the home were both welcoming and positive, more than ready to help in any way and took trouble to accommodate individual likes and preferences, such as when my husband was taken out to the park in the minibus and put next to an open window (he gets travel sick), with classical music playing (which he enjoys). We rang a few times to see how he was getting on and were always given a detailed reply, and were able to speak to him on the phone. I found the in house laundry very good, with careful attention given to clothes requiring a gentle wash, so nothing got mangled or lost in the system. All in all, a positive experience.
Thank you for your lovely review. It is always nice to hear words like "Welcoming" and "Positive" being used to describe our care. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. We hope to continue providing your Husband with the best possible care.
I have enjoyed seeing my sister blossom under your care. The activities are varied and she joins in with anticipation. The facilities are always clean, and the staff willing to engage with you. Such a pleasant place to spend time.

The care home has a friendly atmosphere and I find the staff very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are very pleasant if a little small to be in for such a long time. The only criticism is that food plates can be often left in the room for hours and I understand that it can be lonely in the evening without anyone popping in to chat. However, the staff I have met - nurses, those delivering meals/snacks, laundry etc. are all lovely, helpful and brighten up the day of residents. Having the hairdresser, chiropodist, Dr on hand is very good.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. We are happy you enjoy the home environment overall, We will discuss your feedback regarding the food plates with the home's manager to help them continually improve their service. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your loved ones stay as comfortable as possible.
For respite care, Heol Don is a care home I would recommend.

I visited today and have to say how impressed I am with the whole set-up. From the receptionist as I first went in, carers, dining staff and of course, the lovely manager. There is time for everyone - well done all.

My 96 year old mother was admitted to Heol Don Care Home for a 2 week period of respite for Christmas and New Year. Although she was initially reluctant to be staying away from her home for this period, she quickly began to appreciate the high level of friendly and highly competent personal care and attention provided. Having returned home she is now keen to return for another period of respite! Excellent result for her and the family.
Thank you for your kind words. We hope Heol Don care home did everything possible to make the transition as easy as possible. We are looking forward to seeing you again.
