I could not be more pleased with the excellent care my mother has been given. From the first moment, she and we were made to feel very welcome and every effort made by all staff to help mum settle in. The kindness and care continue with consistency and although Mum suffers from depression, there has
been a definite improvement since coming here.

I am happy here, which says a lot! I've seen other homes. I've been permitted to deal with my own medication under my GP's permission - I like my independence! I came here initially for two months respite and to settle my husband down. He had dementia and passed away on 13th February 2018, very peacefully
and with great attention to his needs at all times. The staff and management have been very supportive through all this time. My family have always had generous access. I am never bored. If I have a complaint, I sit for too long!

Haddon Hall Care Home has provided much-needed care for my mother-in-law at a time when we were struggling to deal with her dementia. They have looked after her basic needs offering help with dressing etc but only where needed. She reports that the food is just like she would make herself which is praise
indeed. She joins in enthusiastically with all the wonderful activities provided and this has definitely enhanced her life compared to when she was living alone. Most of all we appreciate the family-like atmosphere of the dementia floor and the great care taken.

My husband looks forward to his respite care with yourselves. This care home is much like a hotel so every day is like a holiday. The friendliness and care from the staff are very good. You feel very positive in recommending this home to others friends and family.

From the initial assessment at Chesterfield Hospital, we have been delighted with the first class care and attention my mother has had at this 5* care home. The entire staff from reception, nursing staff, cleaners, housekeeping, kitchen, deserve a very special mention. Despite the long and unsociable
hours, they were all happy, jolly and contented - and who wouldn't be in a care home of this standard. Our family have been with my mum for over a week now as it is a pleasure to be here.

Mum had a month in care August/September 2017 and finally went in end November/beginning December for emergency respite care. In summer she was on the ground floor and finally on the first floor. We cannot fault the care at any stage, mum felt very settled and it was lovely to see. Unfortunately, she
passed away whilst there and the staff were absolutely fantastic the way everything was dealt with. She was treated with respect and dignity even when she died. We cannot thank them and praise them enough. xx

Mum moved into Haddon Hall four weeks ago and I am delighted with the care she is getting.
The staff are lovely, caring and kind.
All the residents are treated with respect and they get a lot of attention.

Having been in two care homes between January and April and not happy with either, we moved my mother in a bit of a rush to Haddon Hall. They were exceptional in helping us facilitate this move and my Mother settled in quickly and soon made friends. All staff have been very friendly, chatty and patient
with my mother and with me. She has always been encouraged to join in activities which are varied and regular with outside entertainers coming in about once a month. The carers are amazing, although very busy, they always have a cheerful manner when coming in to help Mum, which Mum really appreciates. Office staff are very efficient with the financial side and any queries have been quickly resolved.

A close friend of mine has spent eighteen months in Haddon Hall Care Home and I visited regularly, usually once a week. During that time he has always been treated with the utmost care and consideration. The staff at all levels have been helpful, compassionate and caring. A high degree of professionalism
runs throughout the organisation.
The home has a welcoming air of calm efficiency. Standards of cleanliness are high and it has always been a pleasure to walk into the place as I visit.
Staff selection and training seem excellent. All contacts I have met there, from management through to carers and maintenance, have been helpful, efficient, friendly and often charming.
Any small problems that I have encountered have been dealt with courteously and efficiently.
I have no hesitation in recommending Haddon Hall to anyone in need of care facilities.

From the initial enquiry to leaving the care home, the service was exceptional. The care home is beautiful and the staff are amazing. The level of care is beyond expectation. Having a relative move from their home is a difficult experience - Haddon Hall care team made it something wonderful. My mum

My mother spent the last seven weeks of her life at Haddon Hall. All of my family, who constantly visited her at London Road, wanted to thank all the staff there for their cheerful, professional and dedicated help and support for her. Over the six months of my Mum's illness, we saw the issues of the
elderly and of their health care from the inside, rather than as a news item that one viewed from the outside. We also saw the worst and the best of Britain's care and health services. Your place was distinguished by the very highest standards. Not only did you make our wonderful mother's last days as good as they possibly could have been, you also treated us with kindness and consideration. Your standards of care were exemplary and we cannot thank you enough.

There is only one word I can use to describe this care home and that is excellent in every way. It is beautifully decorated in a light modern way that is most welcoming and there is everything for a patient's comfort and well-being. I found everybody there, from the senior staff to the cleaners, most

Myself and my family as a whole were very happy with the care that my late great grandma was given at this facility until she passed away in May last year. We found the facilities were very good and its staff friendly and approachable. It is maybe dearer than other care homes in the area but it's very

My husband goes into Haddon Hall roughly 4 times a year to give me a break.
The staff always greet him like a long-lost friend. He is very happy there. If his condition worsens a lot, I would have no hesitation in placing him there permanently.

With over 20 years of experience as a registered Adult Nurse, I joined the Porthaven family in 2023 as the Nurse Clinical Manger at Haddon Hall before becoming the Home Manager. My nursing carer has spanned many specialities. I am passionate about caring for our local community and supporting local people. My aim is to provide the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to our residents where each person and their families feel valued, respected and celebrated. My goal is to nurture staff and give them individual opportunities for growth.

Hello, my name is Richard Vaughan, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Haddon Hall.


Having worked in customer service for most of my life, I take pride in putting people first and ensuring service is king. When I joined Haddon Hall I was delighted to see how nice, warm and friendly the team here are and how special they make our residents feel.


My role as client services manager involves supporting people through the process of choosing a care home and offering advice, guidance, reassurance and compassion for individuals and their loved ones. I feel very honoured and humbled to have the opportunity to be able to help at each stage of the process, from showing people around our home to assisting them on moving-in day and everything in between.

Hello, my name is Sharon Gillespie, and I am the Home Trainer here at Haddon Hall.


I have an NVQ level 5 Management in Health and Social Care and a Petal level 3 in Teacher Training Award, and I have worked for Porthaven for nearly 12 years.


Haddon Hall is an amazing home to work in; the staff and our residents are fantastic, and we think of ourselves as one big happy family. I thoroughly enjoy my role and find training new care staff incredibly rewarding. We pride ourselves on delivering person-centred care and making a positive difference in the lives of our residents.


I have two grown-up children who I raised in Cheshire, and I now have five wonderful grandchildren.
