The care at Thirlestaine Park is second to none. Our mum spent an extended respite stay there and her needs were complex due to advanced dementia. The care staff are highly skilled and showed great compassion and kindness, not just to mum but to all of us as a family. Mum can become very agitated and we saw how their approach to her enabled her to settle and feel calmer. They clearly promote independence and dignity in their residents.

From the first moment you enter to a warm welcome, through to all members of staff involved in the running of this beautiful home, you feel that you matter and they are always happy to help in any way they can.

The general atmosphere is calm and friendly The home environment is very clean, pleasantly decorated and well maintained. The food is well cooked with a thoughtful menu.

Placing a loved one into care is a huge and emotional decision and the care staff at Thirlestaine appreciate this and engender trust and confidence.

Dad came into Thirlestaine Park as a full-time resident in April this year after some respite care elsewhere. Although it took Dad a while to accept he had to be in care, once he settled into the routine and got to know everyone he is now very happy in his new home. The care he receives is wonderful, the staff are all so very friendly, and management, admin staff, carers, hosts, and cleaners, all make this care home a very welcoming and happy place to be. Dad is kept clean and tidy, his room is lovely and he is very comfortable, nothing is too much trouble. After we took Dad out for the day last Saturday, taking him back later in the afternoon, he said he felt like he was going home. This makes me so much more relaxed knowing he is so happy and well cared for, and I would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Thirlestaine Park.

We needed short-term respite care for my mother after a period of serious illness. Thirlestaine Park was welcoming, accommodating and took time to understand our needs. Everyone has been kind and supported my mother in settling, so much so that she has decided to stay permanently. The care, the food and the rooms are all lovely and we are very grateful for the stress that the move has taken from all our lives.

I visit my mother-in-law infrequently as I live in Devon, but for the last week, I have been much more often while my father-in-law was ill.
The staff at Thirlestaine are friendly, helpful and caring.

The resident is treated, as it should be, as if this is their home. It is a friendly and welcoming place.

I arrived at this home some seven weeks ago, in discomfort and distress and was quickly made to feel clean and comfortable. The staff were patience itself when I was in no way easy!

In two weeks this was all changed, nursing worked a big turnaround and weeks later I am beginning to walk again and show general improvement. I highly recommend this establishment.

Thirlstaine Park Care Home has been absolutely amazing with the care of my grandfather after a bad experience elsewhere.
He has settled in well and always looks clean and well cared for.

I cannot rate the activities, as I don't think he has joined in yet. His rooms are immaculate. He enjoys the food and the communication from the staff is excellent. They have done everything they can to make him comfortable. The home is run well and all his needs are met as required. It was a very hard decision to make, putting him into a home, but I am 100% happy with the standard of care.

Thirlestaine Park care home has been great in offering respite care for my friend. It took him a few weeks to get into the daily routine but seems to be more with it now. It is a very welcoming place with activities on offer as well as calmness. As a friend of the resident, I like the fact that I can pop in as and when without having to book in with reception. It makes it feel more homely. It would have been better if there was Wifi, but was told by the reception that there is not any for residents. Not sure why in this day and age.

My parents moved to the home in late September, having lived independently into their 90s. They love the care they receive from the staff on the floor, who are all extremely kind, helpful and warm. The food is excellent, and plenty of it. They feel very looked after. Whenever any friends or family visit, we are welcome. My mum and dad particularly appreciate the trips out (to the garden centre and the Abbey so far) and the music-based activities. Plus, the exercise classes! The home itself is spacious and well maintained, with a big lounge and lovely garden.

I spent two weeks in Thirlestaine Park Care Home as a nursing respite between a major heart bypass operation and moving into my new home in Winchcombe. I needed professional care and the facility for my immediate family to lead normal lives knowing that I was safe. Thirlestaine more than met my expectations. The location is helpful and the buildings are well-designed in an attractive setting. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and discreet and the facilities are of four-star hotel standard. The catering was always more than adequate and often imaginative.

The level of care was outstanding. Call bells were answered efficiently. Both the nursing staff and the care staff were enthusiastic and well-tutored in their roles. They had a pleasant sense of humour and a realistic approach to my personal post-operative challenges. There was a warm and helpful backup from management and the activities team. Whilst I hope not to need care again, Thirlestaine will remain top of my list.

Highly recommend Thirlestaine Park Care Home, needing respite care for my elderly friend who had a fall at very short notice. I took my mother to look around Thirlestaine Park in Cheltenham as we wanted her to have a month's respite after a knee replacement, from the moment we stepped in we were made very welcome. We were shown around and all our questions were answered. My mother was very happy during her month and was looked after very well with kindness and respect. The food was excellent, a choice of dishes and nothing was too much trouble if she wanted something different. Fans were brought to her room during the recent hot weather to make her more comfortable. The standard of cleanliness was very high and her room was cleaned every day. Whenever I phoned to enquire how she was I was always able to speak to a member of staff looking after her, if I had one small moan it would be that the reception desk didn’t appear to be manned out of office hours. As a family, we would not hesitate to recommend Thirlestaine Park Care Home.

My 95-year-old mum required nursing care following two falls in her home and time in hospital. It's the first time she has ever received care, having previously lived independently. The client services manager's response was excellent from the moment we engaged with Thirlestaine Park Care Home. We had two show arounds, including the gardens, activity room, and the residential floor. We had a good understanding of the whole care home. We could not have asked for a better start to Mum's new life at Thirlestaine Park. She is treated with dignity, her sheets are clean and all staff know her. Mum's food is served in finger food sized portions like a buffet. This is working very well and we are delighted that she has gained weight in her first 10 days. The response from Mum on seeing her favourite sideboard, ornaments and paintings in her room on arrival was overwhelming; she spoke more then than she had in several months. We are very impressed with the nursing team's treatment of mum's leg sores.

From my first contact with this care home, the staff were helpful and compassionate. It was easy to arrange a visit which I booked online. The home has the benefit of being purpose-built with all the necessary facilities but retains a homely feel. My aunt has settled in well and appears comfortable and relaxed and is enjoying the excellent food. The nurses are kind and caring and are treating my aunt with great dignity. They cater to her individual preferences and encourage her to retain as much of her independence as possible. I feel confident I have chosen the best home for my aunt.
