I cannot speak more highly of my experience of Abbey Wood Lodge. Having known my Mother-in-law for over 35 years now I couldn't be more aware of just how difficult a decision this has been (for the entire family) for her to have to go into care. It really was the best/only option at this stage. The most remarkable and probably the most surprising thing that I have experienced with Abbey Wood has been the support and extraordinary kindness shown to the entire family. It is abundantly obvious that the staff genuinely care about her as a person which is so lovely to see, their interaction with her is remarkable.. but the care and thoughtfulness shown to our family as a whole has made such an enormous difference and the reassurance given to us that such a loved member of our family is not only being 'cared' for but loved is everything. Thanks to all at Abbey Wood you do a remarkable job.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words about Abbey Wood Lodge. We understand how difficult the decision must have been for your family, and we are honored that you chose us to care for your Mother-in-law. It is heartwarming to hear that our support and kindness have made such a positive...
When the time comes for you to find a place in a care home you will in all likelihood visit several different homes and wanting only the very best for your loved one you try to consider everything you possibly can. In our case out of the 8 care homes we considered it was very clear that Abbey Wood Lodge was where we wanted our mum to go. In truth, like many other people in our situation, we didn't want our mum to go into a care home at all but it was obvious that we were at the point at which it was the only safe option. That was 12 months ago now and all I can say is that although it was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make we are 100% certain that there is no other care home that would/could have offered our mum more genuine love and care. What makes Abbey Wood Lodge so special is the manager and all of the staff..we can't say enough..incredible..and we will forever be in their debt for everything they have done for our mum (and ourselves) at this very difficult time in all our lives.
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt experience. We understand how challenging it can be to make the decision to move a loved one into a care home, and we are honored that you chose Abbey Wood Lodge out of the many options you considered. It means a great deal to us to hear that our team has...
The home is a lovely place to visit my mum who has been living there for over 18 months now. She is safe and well cared for which is comforting for the family. All staff are friendly and knowledgeable, they understand if mum is having a bad day and always try to make her comfortable. She has options to join in with the activities arranged by the Activities coordinator who is tireless in making mornings/afternoons interesting. When it was Mum's birthday in April, she had a cake beautifully baked by the Chef and we had a lovely little tea party which family members were able to join in. Even staff on their day off came in to wish her happy birthday. I really feel the home is a wonderful community and would highly recommend it.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We are delighted to hear that your mum has been safe, well-cared for, and happy at our home for over 18 months. Our team takes great pride in creating a friendly and supportive environment, and it's wonderful to know that our team's knowledge and...
The staff are amazing and they truly care about the residents. My mum can sometimes have challenging behaviour due to her dementia but they support her with person-centred care and kindness. They come up with individual strategies that Mum responds positively to. The care home environment is spotless and clean and the food is lovely. I felt guilty when Mum had to go into residential care but not anymore as they are caring for her as though she is part of their family. Me and my family will forever be grateful to all the wonderful caring and compassionate staff - much love.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We are deeply touched by your kind words and are delighted to hear that your mum is receiving the personalised care and support she needs. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centred care, especially for residents with dementia, and...
The manager has been extremely supportive in enabling my mother-in-law to have a smooth transition to Abbey Wood Lodge. She and the excellent staff have helped my mother-in-law to settle and adapted to her needs. They are caring and compassionate. My mother-in-law gets involved in all activities and enjoys the company of others facilitated by the staff. Recently the chef made her a birthday cake and staff made a fuss of her. Thank you for going above and beyond.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We're thrilled to hear that your mother-in-law's transition to Abbey Wood Lodge has been smooth and that both our manager and team have been supportive in adapting to her needs. It's heartwarming to know that she feels cared for and engaged with the...
Warm loverly care home with loads of staff always on hand to assist with anything my gran could need. The management are lovely and always willing to assist with any issues we ever have, and the carers go above and beyond to make sure my gran is as comfortable as she can be, and she has the best time with all the activities provided daily.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted to hear that your gran is receiving such warm and attentive care at our home. Our team strives to be always available and supportive, and it's wonderful to know that both the management and carers are meeting your needs and exceeding your...
The activity coordinator had invited us to a father's day afternoon tea. She had gone to great lengths to decorate the room, with balloon displays and appropriate signs, she made personal keepsakes for each father. The food buffet the chef made was delicious and well laid out.
On returning my dad to his floor he was greeted by the carers and given a cup of tea. Many thanks.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with us. We're delighted to hear that you felt warmly welcomed by our receptionist and team. It's heartening to know that the Father's Day afternoon tea was a special event for you and your dad. Our activity coordinator takes great pride in creating...
I would like to pass on a huge thanks to one member of staff in particular on reception on Saturday 1st June. My son and daughter-in-law were bringing my mum and dad's great-grandson to see them, she went out of her way to make this an incredibly pleasurable experience for all of us, thanks once again to that particular staff member.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We're thrilled to hear that your visit on Saturday, June 1st, was such a positive experience. Our reception team takes great pride in making every visit special, and it's wonderful to know that this particular staff member made such a memorable impact on...
Our problem with the home was with the Manager. Due to being so ill and immobile in hospital, my Stepdad obviously deteriorated. The Manager of AWL made the decision to refuse to take him back and then refused to meet with us face-to-face to discuss how to move forward, only changing her mind when we asked about the complaints procedure. One of the reception staff was very stony faced when we went in for the meeting and made us feel uncomfortable when all we were doing was to get my Stepdad the best place for his needs. It was a very upsetting time and we felt that we should have been treated with more understanding and compassion.
In summary, I would only recommend this home for people who are guaranteed not to deteriorate to the point where they are more difficult to look after.
I deeply regret that you feel this way. It has always been my utmost priority to ensure that your stepdad receives the highest quality of care possible. From our perspective, we believed that we provided this level of care. However, after reviewing the information provided by the hospital and...
I am extremely pleased with all the carers and their caring ways towards the residents and nothing is too much trouble for them. Everybody I have met is really kind and considerate. I love going to see my dad.
Thank you so much for your lovely review I will be sure to pass on your comments to the team.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and residents are looked after very well. Facilities are excellent and carers are respected and liked by Mum. I never hear Mum say a bad word about the carers.
Thank you for your review. The team are exceptional, and we are rightly proud of the care they deliver. We are so glad your mum is settled and enjoying her time with us at Abbey Wood Lodge.
The peace of mind I now have from knowing my mum is cared for at Abbey Wood is priceless. The staff are lovely, always keep me informed if she's not feeling well, and the food is wonderful. All in all, it's lovely.

Excellent service and care, as usual, lovely day out with Mum to see the Panto with other residents. Mum is well looked after and has been since she has been there, more than a year and a half now, food is always fantastic.
Thank you so much for your kind words Andrew I will be sure to pass them on to the staff.
Excellent - my mum is very happy considered warm and very well fed!

As soon as I walked in the front door of Abbey Wood Lodge I knew it was the place for Mum. The staff are friendly, welcoming and always cheerful. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated and serviced regularly. There were a lot of activities going on in the run-up to Christmas when I visited and I enjoyed participating with my mum. That was a nice opportunity. I stayed for a few meals and the food was great. The staff are very attentive and Mum only needs to ask to get anything she needs. I’m so thankful she is in such a nice place and that she is safe and well cared for.
It warms our hearts to hear about the positive experience you and your family have had since your mum's arrival at Abbey Wood Lodge. We strive to create a welcoming and compassionate environment for all our residents and their loved ones. Building strong relationships with our residents' families is essential to us, and we're delighted to hear that you feel welcomed and at ease.
To all the staff, I would like to say thank you for welcoming him and making it feel like home.
It is so nice when families appreciate the hard work that goes...
Staff work extremely hard to ensure all resident's comfort, happiness and well-being. They are also very kind and caring. This is what I consistently experience whenever I attend Abbey Wood (at least once weekly).
Thank you for your review and 5-star ratings. We do appreciate feedback from family members who are able to give others a true picture of the care and daily life of their loved ones at Abbey Wood. I will pass your comments to our staff.
Lovely home, very good and very caring. Would recommend this care home to anyone needing a place to stay.
Thank you very much for your 5-star review and comments regarding Abbey Wood Lodge. The team work very hard to ensure that everyone is well cared for and all are happy and safe, it is great to know that their care has made such a positive impact on your wife's health and well-being.
We were really upset as a family when it became obvious to us that we could no longer look after my husband at home. However, the staff at Abbey Wood Lodge have helped enormously with his transition into the care home environment which has allowed us to have comfort that all his needs are taken of. He is happy in his new environment which in turn makes us happy as well.
Thank you for your review of Abbey Wood Lodge, it is very much appreciated. It is good to receive first-hand testimony regarding life in this beautiful home.
Excellent place.
Thank you so much for your lovely review; this means a lot to me and the team.
