Mum has been a resident since April 2021, my brother and I are so thankful for the continued care and compassion shown to mum by all the staff. Mum being 96 has a few health problems and the staff support her ongoing issues really well. Covid has added undue pressure to all the staff but with the guidelines
set out by Lancashire and good leadership they did what they had to do. Such difficult decisions at such difficult times. Thank you.

Firstly I would like to say if anyone is in the difficult position of having to choose a Care Home I would not hesitate to recommend Abbey Wood Lodge. The Lodge is always immaculate and feels more like a hotel than a Care Home. All the staff are extremely caring and reassuring and have been very supportive
of our family during these difficult and challenging times. The Manager is amazing, very professional, and caring and she has created a happy friendly environment all round. A massive thank you to everyone for going that extra mile.

Although I was unable to visit mum more than once due to Covid outbreaks, the staff at Abbey Wood Lodge provided regular updates about her. When the chance eventually arose to visit, it was clear to see she had been well looked after and nourished. Mum’s since moved to another home as her needs have
changed and I’d like to take this opportunity and forum to thank the manager and her team for all their hard work, with a special mention to one member of staff in particular who I spoke with on several occasions. Kind regards.

From day one my dad has felt that this lodge was an extension of his home and family. We as a family feel that my dad could not be better looked after. Every time we visit you aren’t made to feel like a visitor but made to feel like it’s a family environment. My dad has complex needs and the lodge and
staff cater for his every need. The staff keep you updated constantly which is a great thing. Even though we have had lockdown we still have received pictures and newsletters of what has been happening and informed of in-house activities. Athena company should be very proud of the manager and the rest of the staff at Abbey Wood because without you guys it wouldn’t stand out and excel our expectations daily. Thank you for being a part of my dad's life as I’m certain you have given him extra years with your love, fun, and dedication.

At a time when everything was new and quite frightening, the staff were excellent showing empathy, compassion, and kindness. This is evident every time I visit too and my brother is responding extremely well to it. Thank you for your professionalism and kindness.

Reception staff very diligent and polite. All rooms clean and tidy. Covid test for visitors is procedurally good and well-conducted. Care staff are pleasant and appear genuinely concerned and caring for the residents. My dad has been in about 2 months and has settled in well.

Mum has been at Abbey Wood Lodge now for nearly 4 years and has been looked after well. The level of care has improved even further since the current Manager, who was promoted internally took up her new role. Mum who suffers from Dementia is always happy and smiling when we go and see her and the staff
go beyond the norm to make our visits as enjoyable as possible. There are always lots of smiling faces when we visit from both staff and residents along with a clean and welcoming home.

My 93-year-old mum who lives with us recently had a two-week respite break at Abbey Wood Lodge when we had a much-needed break. The building and furnishings are attractive, clean, modern and fresh. She had an en suite room with a large window to look out of and brought her own bedding for familiarity.
She was a short walk from the reception area and was encouraged to join other residents for dining etc. I was apprehensive at first due to a previous poor experience at another care home but the staff were brilliant and were always on hand to reply to a phone call or email from me to reassure me about how Mum was doing. I was so pleased to hear that Mum had been venturing out of her room to talk to staff and residents. It shows me she felt comfortable there. A beautiful care home is nothing without quality staff. The attentive, friendly, caring, competent staff are what make Abbey Wood Lodge such a great place. Mum will be returning there when we have our next break.

This review follows the most unusual period of pandemic lockdown. The staff have been exceptional at caring for my mother over a very difficult time for all concerned. Thank you to all of you. Since my mother moved to Abbey Wood Lodge there has been a high turnover of managers. In spite of this instability,
the staff have stuck to their task with the manager now in charge there is already a noticeable improvement. Well done to her.

Mum broke her leg last year and is only able to take a few steps, however, all the staff have so much patience with Mum and encourage her to do what she is able to. Without this encouragement Mum would have been totally immobile I am sure. Communication has been difficult throughout Covid but the manager
and the team have always made sure that family and friends have been able to connect with residents in many different ways and again staff have shown much patience in this. The home has kept us informed of any changes in the home and have facilitated visits to relatives, always following government guidelines. The care, food, maintenance has continued to be of the same high standards regardless of the difficult conditions that the home and staff have had to endure with covid. I certainly feel that Mum is as well as she is because of the love and care she receives from all the staff along with the lovely home-cooked food and that gives us comfort and reassurance as a family.

I chatted to a staff member as Mum needed help. The manager visited Mum at home and was friendly, informative, understanding and talked to Mum as if she has known her all her life. Mum went in Easter Monday and she has blossomed with the love and care shown. She has now joined in activities and talked
with other residents, so totally different.

The staff and management at Abbey Wood were wonderful and I thought of them as extended family. They all took such good care of my wife and were so sympathetic and helpful when she died. The head office in Southport left a bit to be desired.

I came here in August 2019 after falling and a spell in hospital. My family and I were impressed by the welcome, cleanliness and appearance of my room. The staff are very helpful and are good at getting the necessary medicines required, and show real care and thoughtfulness. I think that they work hard
and things carry on well in spite of staff shortages sometimes.

My stay in here is good, feels like a hotel at mealtimes and night time, very friendly place.
Staff and carers are very good and will help you if needed. I have had lots of laughs and fun. Activities have been very grateful for me.

We are impressed with the care my father is receiving at Abbeywood Lodge. Staff are professional, friendly, caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. They have been very supportive to my mother and myself during this difficult time. There is a wide ranging programme of social activities. The
home is immaculate and the food, good and varied. Cakes are excellent. It is comforting to know my father is being so well looked after and we are extremely pleased with our choice.

Attended my first coffee morning to meet with a recently enrolled resident, arranged after my initial visit a fortnight previously.
On both visits, I was welcomed into a safe and friendly environment. The staffing levels appeared good and residents appeared to have their needs considered and met with
friendliness and dignity. The whole environment appears to be a wonderful "home from home" and a visitor, I was made most welcome.
