We chose Lakeview for my father after discharge from hospital. We had viewed several other homes prior to this but Lakeview was head and shoulders above the competition. All staff were well trained, helpful and courteous. It puts all local authority approved homes to shame. Although not cheap, consider the price of a 5-star hotel with 24/7 care and you will see how reasonable it really is.

My father had respite care at Lakeview. The whole experience from introduction, assessment and care was professional, friendly and considerate to his care needs and our family wishes. My father was very well looked after and enjoyed his stay and the care provided. Lakeview was able to accommodate his additional request without any issues. The friendly and accommodating nature of the staff meant he settled quickly and easily, providing reassurance to the family.

A respite care bed was needed urgently and Lakeview could not have been more accommodating and helpful. The room was lovely and light, overlooking the garden. Sitting in the lounge and going into the garden was much enjoyed. The meals in a smart dining room were very good and the speed at which requests were responded to was impressive. All the staff from receptionist to manager made themselves available and help when necessary. It was a good experience and for someone with a progressive illness, it is reassuring that there is such a happy place nearby.

My Aunt was expertly looked after by the lovely staff at Lakeview for 3 years.
I always felt that Lakeview never seemed like a care home more a 5-star hotel.
I would never say when I was going to visit and because of my lifestyle, I would call in at different times of the day.
I always found Lakeview peaceful, clean, tidy and smelling nice.
The staff were always spending time with the residents and very understanding of people with dementia like my Aunt.

Importantly the staff seemed very happy and there was not a big turnover of staff, unlike the home my Uncle was in.

Overall Experience
Home is beautifully presented and has many excellent facilities, but, whilst they probably help, the main benefit is provided by caring staff who are committed to individual treatment. None of the residents is just a number. There have, unfortunately, been many changes of management, and consequently of style but the fundamental ethos has not changed. That is that it is the residents home where the staff just happen to work to assist them with the lives. The current manager has been with the home in other roles from the outset and brings welcome continuity.

The only negative is that the home is registered for sensory impairment, yet does not seem to have any expert - or even basic - knowledge about the management of hearing aids and deafness. As these affect the resident for whom I hold the LPA and I am myself a hearing aid user, this is both a surprise and a cause for concern. We manage due to (massive) goodwill from the staff, but I feel more formal support should be available.

Reply from Inderpreet Hanzra, General Manager at Hallmark Lakeview

Thank you for your comments. We are glad to hear that you are happy with the care our team deliver. I will work with our team to ensure we improve the knowledge of the management of hearing aids moving forward.

My mother stayed at Lakeview for two weeks respite care. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Lakeview - my mother can be difficult to deal with but at all times she was treated with patience, dignity and respect. All the staff are friendly, caring and approachable and the facilities available to residents are excellent. I would have absolutely no problem recommending Lakeview.

It was an extremely difficult decision to start thinking about finding a care home for my mum. On carrying out lots of research, I made a shortlist of a few local homes to view and I was really surprised how different they all were. Some were nice but rather like hotels and not very homely and some were more institutional-like and rather grim. First impressions of Lakeview were so positive and my view on the home has not changed since my mother became a resident. She is happy and well looked after and that gives me so much comfort that we made the right decision.

I am recovering from having my right leg removed above the knee due to sepsis infection. The wound healed well but my strength was reduced as a result of the operation and chose Lakeview for a two week period of rehabilitation to build up my strength.
My stay at Lakeview has gone very well and I am now back in my own home, considerably stronger and having recovered normal functions such as appetite.

Lakeview is well designed and has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff are efficient, caring and friendly. The atmosphere at Lakeview is caring and responsive whilst leaving residents reasonable space. I was extremely happy there and well cared for. My time at Lakeview has helped me enormously.

We chose this home as best in the area to manage my 92 year old Mother in Law's dementia. Main reason was the quality of staff (low churn) facilities and very much a family feel to the home.

The care home environment is extremely positive. Very nice bright areas with very nice decoration. It is a small care home which promotes a very cosy, friendly atmosphere where everyone knows each other which I believe is good for the residents.
I cannot praise the carers enough, their thoughtfulness and dedication is amazing, working long hours. Daily activities organised throughout the day. After visiting several care homes who constantly fed or were made readily available, cakes of huge quantities. At Lakeview, it is very different just a few small cakes available in the afternoon, much healthier.

I would like to see a permanent manager there though with a long term plan and goal for the care home.

Robin Lane the dementia floor at Lakeview Care Home is excellent and I am full of praise for all the staff that manage the residents on Robin Lane.
My sister has been in Robin Lane since 2016 and has been cared for in the most special way. The staff are respectful, caring and attentive to all the needs of the residents and ensure that they feel loved, secure and happy. With the differing levels of dementia that Pat has travelled since she arrived, we have never had any doubts that she is looked after in the most professional manner. When she becomes agitated they handle her well until she returns to a peaceful place
The atmosphere on Robin Lane is calm - and peaceful.
The documented details of my sister's health care show that the lead carers are aware of health, weight, and any health problems.

The rooms are bright and well cared for - housekeeping look after her well.

The home is lovely, bright and cheerful and everyone is helpful. I have a few clothes issues, no-one seems to understand about washing and clothes disappear. That is my only complaint. The receptionist is amazing and so helpful. The manager is lovely, much better than the last lot!

My mother has been a resident in Lakeview now for a year and is extremely happy. Of course, this makes the family happy as well and this is largely down to the care and service provided by the staff at the home. We have been very appreciative of the help given us by the home and we are kept informed at all times of any issues or problems.

The yearly review meetings also help us all, including my mother, to give input and request any changes which might help. As my mother could not carry on at her house in Bournemouth, Lakeview has given us all the opportunity to give our mother a safe and secure environment where we can visit as often as we wish in the knowledge that mum will be well looked after. The staff and management are friendly and caring and the home is fresh and clean every time we visit.

The care home provides good facilities, residents are treated very well and staff appear to care about the residents. Management roles seem to change quite often, head office admin is poor but getting better, overall happy with the care offered but at times they seem very short of staff, I doubt if the staff / resident ratio is as stated of 1:4.

Mum is settled and enjoys life there.

My partner took up residence in Lakeview in August 2016. She took time to settle down but I was welcomed here on an almost daily basis and struck up a good relationship with the staff. The accent here is on activity which has a good effect on the residents and I am sure slows down the progress of dementia and therefore extends their lives. I have previous experience of a similar care home where people were left to sleep in their armchairs all day - a great pity. This new method definitely shows great benefits to all.

With over 15 years of experience in the care sector, I’m proud to lead the wonderful team here at Lakeview Care Home. I was drawn to Hallmark because it’s a respected name in the industry — known for innovation, compassion, and a genuine commitment to excellence. Being part of Lakeview allows me to contribute to those same high standards and create a truly special place for residents to call home.

In my day-to-day role, I oversee the smooth running of the home, ensuring we provide safe, person-centred care while supporting my team to grow in confidence and pride. The most rewarding part of my role is seeing residents happy, comfortable, and thriving, and knowing that their families feel reassured and supported.

What makes Hallmark — and Lakeview — stand out is the combination of luxury, warmth, and heartfelt care. It’s a home built on respect, dignity, and teamwork.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, heading to the seaside, and enjoying movie nights or a friendly game of cricket with my children.
