My Mum has been living on Ferguson since January 2023. The process of moving in was efficient and handled with compassion. The teams from reception, housekeeping to care have all been friendly and helpful with nothing being too much trouble even when busy. Glasses and clothes do go missing, however, we should remember that the residents have memory issues and moving things around is part of the illness. When this has happened the staff have been attentive and helped locate missing items. The most important aspect of my Mum's care for me is that she is safe, well looked after and treated with respect and my experience with Ferguson is that all of this is in place. The entertainment is truly exceptional and the team work so hard to provide stimulation, both physical and emotional and I cannot praise them enough.
Thank you for taking to time to review Avalon Court Care Home in Coventry. We are delighted to hear how happy you are with the care your mum has received from our dedicated staff team since being a part of our loving care community, giving you and your family peace of mind. We understand that...
Examples of poor care were:-
-Inadequate staffing which impacted responding to her needs.
-Considerable weight loss through not eating and little care planning to address this issue.
-Error with medication which had to be investigated and my aunt went into hospital as a result.
-Clothes went missing.
-My Aunt was in bed for long periods of time without stimulation until the family addressed this issue.
-My Aunt was left unwashed until late afternoon on many occasions.
I have had to raise these issues with management on many occasions and whilst some concerns were looked into I feel that my aunt was neglected in their care and I made social care aware of this.
Whilst this home looks good from the marketing and the home is of a good standard environmentally the care does not match this in our experience.
I would like to express my apologies that your expectations were not met whilst your aunt resided at Avalon Court. As you are aware, any concerns raised were investigated and responded directly to you. If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me.
What was worse, was the lack of taking responsibility. I was called at 6am on the 23rd December to be told I must come to pick up the person I had trusted them with. There did not appear to be any concept of duty of care. In the process, a rather expensive pair of varifocals were lost. Again, how was it possible for this to happen in a secure unit? Glasses not found to date, incidentally, one month on. Instead of respite, this turned out to be a nightmare at Christmas. And a surprise too, given the positive reviews I had seen, and the weekly charge.
I am very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations while your husband resided at Avalon Court. We do have a system in place to investigate any concerns and respond back to the relative. I would be more than happy to discuss this with you in person. Please contact me directly on 02476 470246 once again, I wish to apologise for any distress caused to yourself and your loved ones.
I can't speak highly enough about this care home. My dad was a resident from March this year. He wasn't keen at first so it was difficult for everyone but after a while, he settled in and enjoyed being cared for by the beautiful, highly qualified staff. They treated him like he was their own precious dad. He enjoyed all of the activities, especially the quizzes, the singing and the dancing. He went on outings and made new friends. The food is like a quality hotel and they cater for all diets. We enjoyed visiting and seeing him looked after so well. Sadly dad passed away recently, at 93 he had lived a very good, full life. The care and attention he had at Avalon Court was the very best and we are all very grateful.
Thank you for taking the time to review Avalon Court Care Home in Coventry. Your feedback is truly invaluable to us and our staff team, who go over and above the standards on a daily basis in order to provide an exemplary level of care. It was a true pleasure to look after your dad whilst he was part of our loving care community. Our thoughts are with you and your family. Best wishes, Rachel.
My mum went into Avalon Court in May of this year. She was on the second floor (Wickham). Mum's care was exceptional, the staff who cared for mum were caring, loving, considerate under difficult circumstances. I will never be able to thank them enough. The care was absolutely outstanding.
Thank you for taking the time to review Avalon Court Care Home and for your amazing 5-star rating. We would like to thank you for your kind words regarding the care your mother received whilst being a member of our loving care community, giving you and your family the peace of mind you deserve....
Excellent experience. Fortunately, there was a vacancy at short notice for my mother when my father realized he could no longer look after her! The room is lovely, clean and well maintained. What makes it so great is the amazing staff - they are so caring and fun. Always smiling and willing to help. I could name a few but it would be unfair on everyone who has been fabulous from the moment we stepped through the door. Thank you, Avalon!

Mum has been in the care home for over 12 months now. Overall she seems happy despite her dementia getting worse. The family's biggest concern is the very poor attention to housekeeping. For example, all her clothes were/are fully labelled but every time we visit her clothes are screwed up in the wardrobe, there are clothes not belonging to her, and some of her clothes missing. The shoes are not even hers. We bought a new quilt when she moved in, which is now missing and replaced with a quilt that doesn't even fit the cover. The carpets in her bedroom don't look cleaned. Dead flowers in a vase that smell. Coffee stains on drawers (she doesn't even drink coffee!) Completed visitor report feedback forms twice and not had any response.

My mum has been in this home for over 4 years and I have had no reservations whatsoever that she is in the right place for her. I cannot recommend this home highly enough. She is so clearly happy so it takes a great weight off the minds of myself and my brother to know this.

The level of care provided for mum is excellent and the staff are caring and compassionate. The reception staff are all very welcoming and supportive and have been extremely caring during very difficult times. We have had issues regarding the labelling of clothes which has resulted in mum wearing clothes that do not belong to her and do not fit, which has caused her anxiety, together with items going missing eg glasses, teeth, etc, again causing distress.

Memory Care residents do occasionally misplace personal belongings however I must apologise if your mother has experienced...

Our mum has been in Avalon Court since July 2017 and every hour of every day in that time has been of an outstanding level of care. The staff are your best asset! Indeed not only do they look after Mum they look after our whole family too. I find it difficult to think of any improvements you could make. 10/10 in every area. Thank you so much.

Dad moved into Avalon Court in November 2020. All staff involved in his care have been amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and the love and personal care/support he has received has been exceptional. Reception staff and those organising events also deserve a shout out. Dad has not been this happy in a long time. Thank you.

Overall, we have been very pleased with the care Mum has received. However, we have not been kept informed as much as we would have liked regarding her up to date health and any changes. Apart from this, I have been satisfied.
Many thanks for taking the time to leave such a positive review. We have recently changed our Management structure on Ferguson Suite, and I will certainly pass it back to the Team that the communication between yourselves and the home requires more attention. The senior staff are incredibly...
