Covid has made choosing residential care for a much-loved relative very difficult and distressing. My mother only moved there 10 days ago and the staff were so helpful, welcoming and understanding. The small part of the building that I saw, looked exactly as the video on the website. It is like walking into a smart hotel reception area.
My mother has had to isolate for 14 days, which has been hard but her carers appear to be helping her through this time. Until the phone provider can connect her phone, mum has had several phone calls from friends and family and the home have allowed her to speak to whoever has phoned.

Avalon came highly recommended from past users families and I am very hopeful that it will live up to expectations, once she is allowed to mix with people and join in some of the activities. I would be happy to review again in a few months time.

My mum was such a special lady and had been looked after by my dad for many years until he passed away 13 years ago. After a while, Mum grew a new lease of life and we started to rebuild our lives. We went on many family holidays and she spent some lovely times with all of her family.
Sadly 3.5 years ago my Mum developed Macular Degeneration which led to her being very depressed and feeling very isolated. After some very difficult periods, Mum finally became a resident at Avalon Court. My mum loved to dance, she was able to dance every day, she enjoyed craft making, she made friends, her appetite returned, it was just wonderful to watch my beautiful Mum enjoy life again.
Sadly Mum passed away in June 2020 - but she had 3.5 years of unbelievable kindness and care at Avalon Court where she felt happy and loved - the best gift you could have ever given to my mum.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts every single one of you.

I received 2 weeks respite care. With a mixed age, mixed ability that cares for all. This is a care home that provides for a real mix of abilities. It has given me the strength to get back to living at home following the death of my wife to Parkinson's.

In my opinion, Avalon Court is a wonderful care hotel. To my mother, it is her home. My mum has been a resident for nearly two years and has been cared for beyond our expectations. Her 100th birthday party was the pinnacle of her year, all arranged and supported by Avalon Court. She enjoys the care and kindness of everyone who works to keep her happy and safe. Many thanks to everyone.

I attended a lovely tribute to my aunt on 10/06/19. It was excellent and I thought what a brilliant idea. Well done.
My aunt passed away on 16/05/19 and this tribute followed her funeral at the crematorium.

Everyone was lovely and it was a great privilege to attend and be included.

Overall Experience
My mother has been living at Avalon Court for five months now. She has told me every time I have visited that she is in the best place she could be, and that the staff are really nice. She is on first name terms with her carers and dining companions.
Mum enjoys most of the activities available, which seem to stimulate her and she comments favourably about them during my daily phone call with her. A member of staff will come and encourage her to join an activity if Mum is in her room.
The carers respect her privacy and do not make her do anything she does not want to do even if in some cases it would be in her own interest.

Whenever I have visited I have found the staff helpful and informative. I would not hesitate to recommend Avalon Court.
