My mother has been in several times for respite care and we could not ask for a better place for her to stay. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are spacious, the meals are excellent and cater for her special diet. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the whole home. Would highly recommend.

I have been delighted with the way Mum has been cared for in Avalon Court Care Home. The staff have been patient and supportive - her physical health has improved due to the excellent food and she has joined in many of the activities offered. Mum has also made good friends with the other residents.

We

were lucky enough, on our last visit, to join in with a physical activity session led by the resident physio. It was brilliant - even the residents who had been reluctant initially came away smiling. What a tonic!

All the staff love her and she looks forward to the activities and outings.

I have visited my wife every day during the past five months and have found the staff always welcoming, cheerful and helpful. I am very satisfied with all aspects of care she has received. We like the purposeful and spacious design of Avalon Court. From bedrooms, large restaurants and also the large
lounge and bistro. The pleasant and colourful garden which facilitates a wide range of entertainments and activities. The self-service kitchen provides drinks in house cakes and scones and fruit. Avalon Court must be one of the best.

I am extremely happy with the care given to my nan over the past six months. The staff on the first floor have been exceptional with my nan's health and happiness. A couple of months ago my nan's health had started to deteriorate, but with the commitment and dedication of the team on the first floor,
she has bounced back to her usual bubbly self. They encouraged her with her fluid intake and reassured her that she would be ok.
She would not be the confident happy resident she is today if it wasn't for this team.

The level of care my mother receives is outstanding. The staff are very caring and nothing is too much trouble. They treat mum with total respect and are always cheerful whatever time of day I visit.
I have ticked satisfactory for value for money because mum has not used and is unable to take part
in activities due to her being bed bound.

Moving my mother-in-law into care was an upsetting time for the whole family, but she was too poorly to live at home.
However, we all feel so fortunate to have found Avalon Court a brilliant care home, that provides such wonderful care.
Avalon Court is like a luxury hotel, the bedrooms are beautiful.
The family visits often and everyone at Avalon Court is always welcoming and understanding. My mother-in-law receives the best care and is now even eating and drinking properly as well. She is cared for and supported 24 hours a day. I highly recommend Avalon Court.

My mum stayed at Avalon Court Care Home for a period of 4 weeks for respite care following a hip replacement operation. Throughout her stay, she was treated with kindness, care and support by all the staff. They alleviated all our worries so that she was in a position to return to her own home. The
staff always respond positively to any requests and were extremely helpful to both my mum and myself. I would recommend the care home and the staff unreservedly.

My aunt has been at Avalon Court Care Home since the beginning of May after suddenly having to move from another care home. She has been diagnosed with dementia and could have been very confused and upset by the sudden change. However, all the staff from our first meetings with management and visitor
reception, have been reassuring welcoming and very professional. She has actually been thriving in all aspects having fun and enjoying the safe attractive, caring environment. Her care plan was amended with a couple of days of admission and any issues are dealt with promptly by any of the knowledgeable staff.

I've been very impressed with Avalon Court care home. It was a tough decision to place our Dad in care, but right from the start we knew we'd made the right choice with Avalon. He's safe, well cared for, is getting more exercise than he was able to at home, and has a fuller social life. All the staff
are a joy to interact with, and it's clear that they really do care about the residents. The food is amazing, facilities, decor, and standard of maintenance are excellent; we've come to refer to Avalon as a "hotel with care" as it has such high standards. It's very comforting to know that at this stage of Dad's life he's enjoying himself and has the level of care he needs. Thank you all so much.

When mum came to the care home she was upset and confused. She is now settled and contented. Mum has a lovely room, the staff are all lovely and I know I leave her in very capable hands. The home is like an upmarket hotel, decorated lovely which I'm sure the residents appreciate when leaving their own
home behind.

The general standard of care is very good, however, more activities in the dementia area would be very beneficial and much needed. Music played in the reception/Bistro area should reflect on the age of the residents.

During the two weeks of respite that my mother required the staff at Avalon Court Care Home were so attentive to her needs, she wanted for nothing and was encouraged to take part in all activities which helped my mums self confidence something that required a boost due to ill health she recently experienced.
All in all a first class home.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.602)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.602) out of 10 for Avalon Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.602 for Avalon Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (286 Excellents x 5) + (77 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 394 Ratings = 4.602
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Avalon Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 107 registered maximum number of service users is 21.4, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
