I do not think the mix of residents with physical and mental challenges on the same floor was always appropriate but when staff and management were made aware they did try to resolve specific issues. But Ebor Court are wonderful in their level of care and compassion and we as family of a resident became
part of "their family" very quickly. It is very hard to relinquish daily responsibilities of a cherished mum to strangers but 2nd-floor staff proved a safe pair of hands. Regular staff soon got to know mum and us and it was important to have that continuity, always available to answer questions - keep us updated and offer advice and that vital link between Dr's and changed medication and what that entailed. Nothing was too much trouble- we never felt in the way. As end of life was obvious the staff were outstanding and the night managers were amazing to the finish which will always remain with us. Would recommend Ebor Court to everyone and have in fact done so since 2017.

My Mother moved into Ebor Court earlier this year. She is on the second floor.


I am extremely pleased with the care and attention she receives. The food is of a good standard and there appears to be frequent activities.

My mother appears to have settled in well at Ebor Court even though she has had to be moved already and there is talk of a further move ( not good for someone with dementia) As I live a good distance from York I have not been able to visit much however on the occasions I have been everything appears
to have been in order and satisfactory.

I am thrilled that my mother has settled well into Ebor. The staff have made great efforts to encourage and include her and Christmas was very special. The choice and frequency of activities are excellent. All staff are thoughtful, kind and attentive. I am extremely happy with the catering and the encouragement
is given to residents to enjoy a cup of tea at any time of day. Visitors are always welcome and the atmosphere is relaxed and happy. The building is bright and airy. Rooms are kept clean but occasionally hand sanitizer and paper towels run out so a frequent check on these supplies would be appreciated. My only real concern is the laundry system. We are frequently not receiving my mother's laundry back despite it being labelled correctly. This is disappointing as it is a service included in the recent fee increase. May I suggest your laundry system requires review? Overall, well done to all staff at Ebor Court for creating a lovely, homely and safe environment.

From what I see from the day to day care my father receives, I feel the majority of the staff are doing their best for all the residents at Ebor Court. The staff are trying to spend quality time with residents but I have noticed they have never ending paperwork to try to fit in too!
I feel maybe there
aren't enough staff on duty at times. The care Dad gets is excellent, the carers seem to do their best to understand his needs, which can change hourly.
I would like to see more activities where residents are encouraged to join in more. Also maybe more small/short trips out for just coffee, these then wouldn't be too expensive and residents could maybe get out more often.
The meals sound very good, Dad says they are excellent on the whole, but there now seems to be a lack of homemade cakes available, as there was when he first went in.
I have noticed that on the whole, Dad receives excellent care and I feel confident that he is safe at all times, which is the main thing.

As my mother's health deteriorated it was agreed that she should stay at Ebor Court and not be moved to hospital. Her dementia was treated with dignity at all likes. The compassion shown to both herself and her family was excellent. The family were welcomed at any time.
We will always be grateful to
the care which she received at Ebor Court during her final days there. I would definitely recommend this care home to others.

When my grandmother moved into Ebor Court a year ago, we were thrilled with the staff, the building, everything. Since then the fees have increased by about 12% and it has gone from a CQC good rating to 'requires improvement', prominent staff appear to have left and they seem stretched. My grandmother's
room is not kept sufficiently clean, particularly the bathroom area and I do not get the number of updates about her that I used to get. The staff who work with the residents genuinely care and are really wonderful with them, but it's all the other little things that are missing (see the July CQC report for details) that makes me wonder whether we have made a very costly mistake in choosing Ebor Court.

This is a light and bright care home with ample communal spaces. My mother settled in here quickly, and is happy amongst the other residents and enjoys their company. The carers are very attentive and are quick to resolve any problems without being intrusive.

The care that my husband has received during the 2 years he has been resident in Ebor Court has been excellent. He has been well cared for and the staff have on the whole been compassionate and caring. He is content and is full of praise for his care and the quality of the food which is very important
to him.


So I have already recommended this Care Home on many occasions to people and have no hesitation in continuing to recommend it.

My mum has lived at Ebor Court for nearly one year and during that time I have found the staff to be caring and responsive to my mums need. They are always friendly and take time with my mum which has led to her settling in well. Also, the team are quick to respond to issues in an appropriate manner.

Very very caring, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, do not be afraid to ring your bell as it will answered straight away. Staff make you feel as if you are back at home as they all care for you in an excellent way. We are all treated as individuals so our individual needs are met perfectly.

I think it is nice, the staff and other residents are lovely and nice. The food is beautiful and my room is nice the bed is lovely and I always sleep well. I love that my family can come and see me.

Environment - In an industrial estate so not very prepossessing.
Ambience - As a new building, décor good, rooms small but satisfactory.
Staff - Home staff are very pleasant, but all seem to lack the empathy and joy , I have experienced visiting other care homes. Non availability of staff on reception
which means often long delays to enter/exit building.
Activities - The range of these is very poor for more mentally alert and intelligent patients. Many activities are geared to them with dementia. It was devastating at Christmas to find almost no effort had been made to mark this festival. No fun, no decorations to speak of, even Christmas dinner lacking essentials.
My Father - has settle din Ebor Court but resigns himself to a) Lack of his medication, b)lack of care, c) lack of activity d) lack of communication.

My experience of Ebor Court is a kind, caring and trusting environment all the staff that I have come in contact with have been top class. They look after my mum and other residents as if they were their family. Nothing is too much trouble. The only thing I would say is that I feel more staff is needed
to help the carers, maybe one or two, these ladies and gents work very hard for their wages, and it isn't easy with residents that have dementia and challenging behaviour, they are worth their weight in gold and the staff should be on £10 an hour.

It is nice to be able to visit Dad and know when I arrive he will be clean and dressed. The building, facilities and hygiene standards were the best we could find in York at the time we put him into care. Overall I am very satisfied with the standard of care and facilities the building has to offer.
My only concern is the decline of Dad's teeth since he went in. There are doubts his teeth have been brushed and the communication regarding a previous dental appointment was poor. This has resulted in an infection and a lot of discomfort for Dad and more extensive dental work than was originally needed.

Dad has found moving into a care facility quite difficult, but with the care and support of the staff at Ebor Court he is settling in and coming to terms with his situation. I have the peace of mind knowing that my dad is being well cared for and is not in a vulnerable situation any more.

We have always found the staff very friendly, approachable and well informed. It is evident that the staff respect the residents dignity. There now seems to be adequate staff on duty, although during the summer holiday period there were several occasions when we visited that we found the standard in
the bedroom was lacking, not due to the staff on duty, but because of shortage of staff.
My wife had worked for some years as deputy manager in a care home. We therefore both fully appreciate the superior quality and standard of care, décor and activities which are provided. We are very happy with the home, however we are disappointed that there has been an 11% rise in fees this year.

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Yvonne has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for residents.


Working at Ebor Court, Yvonne closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Yvonne remarked:
“Being able to share my passion for giving kind care with all staff within the home, ensuring the people in our care are living their best lives.”


Yvonne has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievements being Raising her three sons and becoming a personal trainer, working with the elderly promoting healthy living and the benefits of regular exercise.


Outside of work, Yvonne enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, going to the gym and socialising with friends.
