Prince George House

Mum had been a resident for a number of years and had dementia. She was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in February 2023 and the staff looked after her with such care and affection. At 98 they had her walking with help, taking part in activities and socialising. As her end approached we had the option for her to go into a hospice but decided to leave her at her “home” surrounded by people who cared about her and knew her. In her last days before her death, they made sure she was checked on constantly and some of her care team went in to sit with her on their days off so she wouldn’t be alone. We couldn’t have asked for more. She was surrounded by her Prince George family right up until her death a few hours after our last visit to her. Your staff there are very special people and over the years we’ve seen the care and compassion they give to the residents. Mum loved them like family and they have become family to us. We are visiting now with Mum's great-grandson for Toddler mornings.

Prince George has been fantastic in the care of my mother who had a stroke in September 2022 and came to live here in October 2022. I live in Australia and am confident that my mum is receiving the best possible care here. The staff are all wonderful and do an amazing job.

Prince George House is a very welcoming and friendly place. The staff take great pains to ensure that your needs are met in all aspects of your care. There is always someone to help with day-to-day things such as posting a letter, ensuring your wi-fi connection is working properly or helping to track down a missing item of laundry. The rooms and common areas are very clean and the gardens are very well maintained. The activities staff work hard to provide a varied programme. The food is generally good, although there have been a few weeks recently when it was below standard. It would be helpful to know that steps are being taken to ensure this doesn't happen in the future if the chef is on holiday. The care teams work extremely hard and are much appreciated. The hairdressing and coffee shop facilities are a bonus!

All in all this home seems to be lovely, Mum doesn't remember anything but she seems to be reasonably happy most of the time considering, plenty of activities to occupy their minds so not left sitting for hours on end. Staff are all friendly and attentive and always someone there when you need them. The only thing I found wrong is that after a call from my sister, I had to supply her with shampoo and shower gel.

The best thing about Prince George House is undoubtedly the staff who are friendly and welcoming and work hard to create a warm and caring atmosphere. The house and gardens are clean and well maintained. The standard of catering is excellent; meals are freshly prepared, nourishing and offer plenty of choice.

The catering for Mum and other residents is superb. The reception staff are always welcoming. There are always many activities being held during the week. We feel so lucky to have found Mum this home.

Feel my dad gets very good care even though they are sometimes stretched staff-wise. When attending to him they treat him with dignity and a jovial manner. He's been in bed for over a year without developing any additional problems. Room always clean and tidy.

I have found the carers are kind and friendly and generally communication is good. There have however been occasions when there has been a breakdown in communication between permanent carers and agency staff.

You could not wish for a better standard of care and all involved should be congratulated.

Prince George is a lovely home, very welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are wonderful and very caring. The food is outstanding. Plenty of activities for the residents to take part in if they so wish. Lovely atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this home.

We feel he is receiving the best level of care that he has ever had and wish for it to continue. The staff are always responsive and show real people skills when it comes to it and is most needed. We feel very confident in Care UK that the service on offer is really very good indeed. The whole place seems to operate like a huge well oiled (and I will like to add organised) machine with all levels of staff doing their utmost to carry out their responsibilities - and still have time to check in with you to see how everyone is and how everything is going - just amazing being able to witness first hand something so harmonious in operation. Please don’t change you really are doing such a great job and long may it continue. Absolutely worth a five star rating across the board.

My mother has been at Prince George House and is coming to end of life and has some complex needs. The care offered by the staff has been excellent. As a family we are grateful for the care offered.

Following a fall, my father aged 91, on advice from professionals, needed full time residential care. The experience we have received from everyone at Prince George House has been first class. We are always informed of any issues and my father, considering his condition, seems happy. Highly recommended.

I can leave Prince George House knowing he is well cared for.

Rooms were rated poorly because a drawer in my wife’s room has a door missing for over three weeks with no repair. A rubbish bin was missing for three days. I talked with the cleaning lady and she was able to replace it. Now the serving desk (the table she eats from) has gone missing.

The staff are fab. Always there to support both my mum and myself when I come to visit. They are caring and kind. Recently we requested a Christmas lunch for my mum and my family and they pushed the boat out, giving us a private room and a lovely 3 course Christmas dinner. We even brought our pet dog along for Mum to cuddle!

All of the staff are warm and friendly and take excellent care of mum. They encourage her to participate in the many great activities provided. Also they have taken the time to know what food she likes so that she has a choice of meals that she likes whilst maintaining a balanced diet. The on-site hairdressing and nail care is excellent as is the health care when needed. Mum's room is kept clean. She is very happy in Prince George House and I feel welcome when visiting her there.

Be very aware that this 'Care' Home is tragically totally unsuitable for respite. (I note remarks made 4 years ago by someone, which almost mirrors our experience recently). Since I continue to be in 'dispute' with the owners, following their 'review' of my wife's very unhappy few day's stay there, I will say no more at this stage. All I ever wanted was a full, and immediate apology*. As it is, 3 months later; I have had to 'drag' a very half-hearted partial 'apology' out of anyone in authority. When I finally managed to prise my wife out, and home in July; she spent the next few weeks asking me every morning - "Can I stay with you?" Suffice it to say, it took both of us weeks to get over the intense trauma they needlessly inflicted upon us. Look out for more in local and national media - unless finally, someone soon sends us the apologetic * letter we fully deserved in the first place.

Mum's spectacles have been missing for about three to four weeks and don't feel much effort has been taken to find them.

Overall I and my family are satisfied that our loved one is being cared for and stimulated and treated with dignity. All the staff we have encountered on the suite are cheerful, friendly and respectful towards my wife and us as her wider family and are clearly very hardworking. It's a pity there aren't another 2 (or even 3!) members of staff for each shift to share the world loads, but also to enable residents more time with one-on-one. Someone to sit and chat with, to have a cup of tea with or a little stroll around the garden.
