I cannot speak too highly of the care staff at Cavell Court Care Home. Both day and night staff have shown such love and care to my husband and he has made a remarkable improvement in health during his stay. I feel the carers are my friends! Thank you Cavell Court.

My dad, who has Parkinson's, dementia, went to Cavell Court Care Home after an unexpected and immediate need for respite care. One member of staff at Cavell Court was far more efficient in calling me back and answering my questions than any other similar care home. We managed to view a room the same day and the process of arranging respite care was straightforward and only took three days. Due to circumstances beyond our control, my dad is now staying as a permanent resident at Cavell Court. He has settled in well which makes visiting and leaving him that little bit easier for me and my mum. His room is clean and spacious with a nice en-suite. Being purpose-built, the corridors are wide and make it easier for him to be mobile. The food menu is varied and all the staff I have met have been helpful and friendly. There is a pleasant garden and the reception area has a 'cafe style' area with a coffee machine and cakes where you can meet your loved one if you don't want to go to their room.

Mum has been in Cavell Court for nearly 18 months. Staff have been supportive and caring throughout. Sadly things have changed due to the mixing of suites.
It’s now chaotic, noisy and busy and staff seem overworked and stressed which isn’t their fault. Waiting times for personal care have been from 15-45 minutes.
Rooms are clean, spacious with en-suite

Meals have declined and are later and later each day.

We are glad to hear you are pleased with the staff’s supportive and caring nature, as well as the cleanliness of your mother’s room at Cavell Court. Although we have opened lounges up to be used by residents on different suites, this has been done purely for the benefit of residents to encourage...

Heartfelt thanks to all staff for the excellent care given to my mum (ninety-nine) who came here from hospital after a fall. Mum was relaxed, happy, pain and stress-free and died peacefully in this impeccably maintained and comfortable home.
The care team were unfailingly kind, loving and professional, attentive to her every need, mental and physical. They showed great compassion and humanity treating her with dignity and always went the extra mile. Visitors were warmly welcomed and frequently commented on the high standard of care and the warmth of her carers.
The admin team was also highly professional from reception to trouble-free admission to finding out about Mum’s background, lifestyle, likes and dislikes. Relationships and coordination with the Hospital and District Care Team involved at various times in Mum’s care were excellent as were all aspects of customer care including phone calls and personal contacts with relatives and friends.

Our confidence was total.

My father passed away on 01/01/2023 with me and my daughter holding his hand after he had spent the last fifteen months being cared for by the most amazing carers. Everyone I came into contact with was kind and welcoming, nothing was ever too much trouble. He was shown kindness, dignity, laughter and love. His room was always clean, meals varied and well planned and there were plenty of snacks for him to help himself to. From the minute I walked into reception I was welcomed. The young carers to the more experienced ones blew me away with their compassion. I want to thank each and every one of you who cared for him in whatever way. You always went that extra mile. I will miss him and I will truly miss seeing you all on my visits. Thank you from myself and family.

Cavell Court Care Home is currently looking after my father who has advanced-stage Alzheimer's.
When we've visited the home it has been consistently welcoming and the environment is very stable, clean and has a very warm atmosphere.
All the care staff we have met whilst visiting my father have demonstrated real care and understanding of his needs. The care is administered compassionately and it feels the residents are treated with respect.
I've spoken to a number of the staff and leaders and they've all been very helpful to me.

My father seems very settled at Cavell Court Care Home. Thank you for looking after him so well.

My husband has not been in Cavell Court Care Home for long but we, as a family, are so happy that he is able to stay permanently following extended respite. I am relieved as it is the best care home he has ever stayed in. The staff seem to really care about their residents with good humour and are very observant in respect of spotting a brewing illness. They will also update me promptly and welcome as many calls as I like if I have any concerns. They are friendly and actually listen to me and any suggestions I may have in respect of his care. Most importantly, my husband is happy and settled and does not ask to come home with me when I leave. If my husband is well cared for and happy then I am very happy.

As a family, we cannot rate Cavell Court and the team high enough. My mum needed urgent respite care after 3 weeks in hospital. We were very hesitant as though she should be with us at home. However, the staff made this decision and transition so easy for us and mum. Since being at Cavell Court mum has improved significantly both engaging with the wonderful staff and much improved mobility and mum looks so much healthier and happier. The staff are caring and loving. Thank you to all the team at Cavell Court, keep doing what you do as it’s so important our loved ones receive the best of care in a relaxed, safe and homely environment which you do. Thank you

Very nice home, relaxed feel and helpful staff. Very clean and well organised with nice outdoor spaces. Good communication with regards to admission and discharge. Additional cost for haircut and chiropodist unavailable during our two-week stay. Other residents appeared to be happy and had plenty of opportunities to socialise. Ground floor rooms are particularly nice on the courtyard side.

There is little more to say beyond the note and card already given. To attempt to add to that glowing overview is unlikely to be helpful because it inevitably takes us into nit-picking, which should not be extrapolated from only one stay of ten days.
I have one comment on process, relating to my particular case, which is that the administration of medications should be worked through at the outset of a stay. In my case, some drugs are for patient - dosage, which varies, and cannot easily be fully described in a few words on the packet or jar.
Beyond that, I have one request - it should be compulsory for name badges to be worn by staff and offered to residents.
I expect it will be tough to maintain the standards you have set - so good luck.

And I do look forward to my next visit if circumstances so arise.

My dear husband has had Alzheimer's for five years now and after being discharged from hospital after a four-week stay he was transferred to Cavell Court Care Home. This situation has been heartbreaking as he and I do not have close family and the separation has been so very painful. He has been at Cavell Court now for six weeks and I cannot commend the staff more, although they are all under tremendous pressure they have taken real good care of me too. His care is outstanding, nothing is too much trouble even down to him having his favourite glass of whisky each evening. He seems so calm and happy there and has settled well I know because of the care and attention you are giving him. A placement for him closer to home is being looked for but I cannot imagine him finding a better place than Cavell Court. If we are not successful I would be happy to try and secure his long term care with you as I know he is safe and secure. Thank you.

My family and I cannot commend the staff of Cavell Court Care Home enough. The empathy and warmth shown to us all through what was a very challenging and difficult time left us feeling supported, informed and confident that this was absolutely the right placement for our precious loved one. It was clear from the initial contact with the homes customer relations manager, from the warmth of the language used to the level of information and assurance provided, that all of our experiences were important and that the placement should be as easy and reassuring for our loved one as possible. All of the staff that we have had contact with both pre and post-placement have been incredibly welcoming, from the first assessment to the lovely reception staff organising testing kits and booking visiting slots.

Once placed and settled in the home, every visit demonstrates the warmth and empathy all staff provide to what they consider their residents. We are so grateful to have our loved one cared for by them.

The care that my father received whilst at Cavell Court was Fantastic! Every member of the team from admin to care staff provided an exemplary level of compassion and care for both my father and us, as a family. The only criticism Dad would have is about the food but he is a very fussy eater!

Cavell Court is a warm and friendly care home with a cheerful atmosphere. The staff at Cavell Court looked after my dad with kindness, respect, and good humour all along. I was always reassured when I visited or spoke to Dad that he was surrounded by good people, as he told me himself, and he was a good judge of character. Dad loved the activities, thanks to the staff helping him get involved, he especially loved the music. I will always be grateful to the staff at Cavell Court for looking after my dad so well.

Cavell Court is a state of the art care home with a fabulous garden and engaging activities for residents. I have been involved as an artist visiting in pre-Covid times providing activity and engagement for the residents. Residents have been involved in art projects, reminiscence projects and starred in films that we have produced giving them an extra activity. Cavell Court is always welcoming and safe and the staff always provide a smile (and biscuits) which is so important for the elderly people, who often feel isolated.

Pedro Campos
Pedro CamposJob Title:Home Manager

I qualified as a Nurse in Portugal in 2010, and my first care job in the UK was for Care UK.

I left after five years to progress my career, but I decided to return because I believe in Care UK’s values and commitment to caring for residents.

Care UK is the best place I have ever worked. The support provided to colleagues is fantastic. Providing care is about being passionate and committed. As Home Manager, I believe it’s important to listen to and support residents, relatives and colleagues in the home on a day-to-day basis. I work hard to make a difference in their lives.

The safety and well-being of the residents living at Cavell Court are of the utmost importance to me, and ensuring all procedures are followed is an important part of my role. My favourite part of the day is walking around the home every morning to talk to each resident and team member.

When I’m not working, I love to spend time with my family. I enjoy time in the garden and do DIY at home.
