Mum has now bee;in St John's since May of this year. She had just turned 90. It was a massive wrench for her and very logistical for us with over 30 years of "stuff" to sort through. Mum's physical health was deteriorating even though she at the time didn't or didn't want to recognise this. From day
one until today there has always been the utmost constancy from each and every member of staff. How everyone remains cheerful and positive is beyond me. They are real angels. They must be. Mum has had rollercoaster emotions and health issues. Her respect has always been maintained. Paul, the care manager is one of the most outstanding individuals I have ever come across. Mum is treated royally, even when she does not deserve it. The environment is very comfortable and tasteful. The public areas are simply gorgeous. Mum questions some of the food but she is pescatarian and very fussy indeed so she has always questioned food wherever she has stayed. She enjoys a glass of wine most days. Fab.
Reply from Emma Bayne, General Manager at St John's HouseThank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We know how significant a transition this has been for your mum and your family, and were truly grateful for the trust youve placed in us. It means a great deal to hear that our teams constancy, positivity, and care have made a difference during this time. We will be sure to pass along your kind words to Paul and the rest of the staff, who will be delighted to know their efforts are appreciated. Were glad your mum feels respected, comfortable, and able to enjoy the things she loves mostincluding her daily glass of wine.

I began visiting St John's house as a student on placement for my college course, where I was welcomed with nothing but kindness and open arms and taught what I needed to know. I enjoyed my time so much, that at the end of my course, I asked to continue as a volunteer with the wellbeing team. As I still
visit, the variety of the activities, and the lengths gone to ensure residents experiences are positive continue to impress me.

I volunteered in the wellbeing team. A good range of activities for the residents was provided, including personal 1 to 1 visits for those unable or unwilling to join in with the group activities. The care staff attended to the needs of the residents and treated them with dignity and respect. The housekeeping
team worked very hard to keep the home clean and looking smart. Everyone was very helpful when I needed to know something including the reception staff. The management and the maintenance team who fixed a fault I reported immediately.
Reply from Emma Bayne, General Manager at St John's HouseWe are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time volunteering with our Wellbeing Team. Sadly, my mother-in-law passed away in hospital a couple of weeks ago. The staff at St John's were sensitive through a difficult time after she was admitted following a fall. We were kept informed as matters developed and when she was re admitted as an emergency. She was admitted to residential care
3 1/2 years ago with the prognosis that her advanced dementia meant a likely life span of just 2 years. In the event, the care and attention giving at St Johns meant she lived much longer. Her quality of life was greatly enhanced by the specialist dementia care including excellent entertainment and activities.
Reply from Emma Bayne, General Manager at St John's HouseThank you so much for your thoughtful message about your mother-in-law's time with us. We are deeply sorry for your loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to you and your family. It was a privilege for all of us at St John's House to be part of her care and to get to know her over the past 3 years. Your kind words about our team, activities and specialist dementia care mean a great deal to us. We strive to make every day meaningful and comfortable for the people who live here, and it is reassuring to know that our efforts brought her quality of life and comfort. Please know that she will be remembered fondly by the staff who cared for her. We are grateful that you took the time to share your experience with us.

We recently celebrated my uncle's 90th birthday. The help and support we received from the staff was amazing. It made the day extremely special. I am so grateful for their help. Since my uncle has been a resident, we have received such care, support and so much more. I know my uncle is safe and very
well cared for which gives me so much peace. A wonderful environment, such a lovely home.

We feel so lucky to have chosen this care home for my Nana.
From management , reception, kitchen, hosts to care staff, we have no complaints.
The minute we walk through the door, we are so welcomed by the staff, every single one of them. We feel like family.
The service, host and hostesses seem
hidden but they are golden to the home. Along with the cleaners and laundry.
The wellbeing team are a blessing in disguise.
I can't rate this home highly enough, if I could give them 1000 stars I would, 5 stars doesn't seem enough for the care, support and welcoming presence.
They've tended to my Nanas every need, no stone left unturned. I am so grateful to everyone that works at St John's for the attention and care my Nana has received. I recommend St Johns. Thank you all x

I became a resident at St Johns in order to recover from a hip replacement operation. The staffed showed complete professionalism at all times whilst retaining humanity and compassion. Their patience, even in the early hours of the morning, was spectacular. I was there for 3 weeks and never saw anything
except exceptional care for all residents. The building is light, airy and kept very clean. The activities are varied and stimulating and the food is excellent.

My father recently stayed at St Johns House for a 2 week respite, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The level of care, support and consideration shown by the staff was outstanding. Every effort was made to ensure he was comfortable and well looked after, and the team consistently
went above and beyond.
The staff struck a perfect balance between professionalism and kindness. They were friendly, supportive, and genuinely caring in their approach. It was also heartwarming to see how welcoming both residents and staff were to our family whenever we visited.
The home itself is spacious with a great variety of rooms and communal areas to enjoy, including the lovely coffee room and the grand piano! It made a real difference to have such a well-thought-out and inviting environment.
Thank you to everyone at St Johns for the exceptional care you provided and we look forward to another visit soon.

I spent 2 weeks in St John's following knee replacement surgery. It was ideal for my needs following major surgery, just being cared for. The facilities in the home are excellent and the staff all friendly and helpful. They did not appear to have staffing issues although I was mainly independent. Food
was good, although I feel supper was too early at 4:45 is hard, a light meal with nothing else until breakfast some 15 hours later. The need for pain relief in a reasonable time from asking was sometimes frustrating and painful, especially at night. When offering these services maybe this should be addressed.
Reply from Emma Bayne, General Manager at St John's HouseThank you for sharing your experience. We are pleased to hear that you found the care, facilities, and staff at St John's House to be excellent and that your stay supported your recovery. Regarding your comments on pain relief, we understand how important timely medication is, especially post-surgery. Unfortunately, we must adhere to strict regulations around the storage and administration of controlled drugs, which can sometimes lead to unavoidable delays. We appreciate how frustrating this can be and will continue to review our processes to ensure the best possible experience for our residents. With regard to meal times, we recognise that an early supper may not suit everyone. A light menu is available 24 hours a day on request, we appreciate your feedback and we will make this clearer in our welcome guide. Thank you again for your valuable insights-we always strive to improve our services and appreciate your feedback. We hope you are continuing to recover well.

My parents had a very good experience at St John's House. The staff were amazing in every area from care and cleaners, to management and front of house. We were made to feel welcome and overall the care was excellent. An area which could be improved is the catering with slightly larger portions for
the evening meal. It would be nice for residents to eat communally more than once day. I would certainly recommend St. John's to other people needing a care home.

Fantastic team who do an amazing job supporting our dad who is ravaged by end stage dementia. This is a difficult job but the staff go above and beyond to do everything they can to support him. They have engaged the MDT team to support him in every way possible as his health and mobility decline. They
really do put extra effort into ensuring that now he is rarely able to tolerate getting out of bed he isn't alone. They visit him in his room, one of the staff goes and plays guitar to dad who used to be a wonderful musician. They continue to try to see the man that once was through the veil of dementia and treat him with such care and kind respect although at times he can be quite aggressive and confused. They also do a great deal to support the rest of the family through this difficult time. They are so kind and welcoming to us all. We are so grateful for the staff and only wish they received a greater proportion of the high fees paid.

What a lovely place for my Nan to be in, the staff are all so helpful and friendly, the rooms are lovely and the food is also nice.
My Nan had a fall and ended up in hospital and upon arrival back to the care home they helped get her back in her room, cleaned her up from the hospital and the manager
visited her every hour through the night to make sure she was comfy and ok.
Highly recommend this place for the care of your loved ones.

Without a doubt the best care home in the region. They provide absolutely excellent care for my dad who is a resident with dementia. The care and quality of the staff working there is second to none. We have been most impressed with the kindness shown to my dad and the level of respect he receives.
They provide a very safe and warm place for my dad which gives us peace of mind.
Staff have always kept us informed of his care and his changing needs and they have been able to adapt to accommodate any problems that they encounter with Dad. The staff have always been attentive and caring.
The staff throughout the whole home are kind courteous and feel like family. They maintain a professional, caring attitude and always go above and beyond for Dad and us as a family. We have witnessed the same care and attention to other residents there.
The St Johns family provides great social activities which they involve my dad in and as a family, we are always invited to join in as well.

My 96-year-old friend stayed for 2 weeks for respite care.
I could not believe the difference in just 3 days!

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
