Cedrus House in Stowmarket is a purpose-built care home that provides permanent and respite residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for older people. The dedicated team also offers compassionate end of life care.

The stunning Suffolk home has its own café, with patio doors that open out onto the secure, landscaped gardens. There’s also a hair and beauty salon, an activities room and a cinema room, so residents can enjoy a great lifestyle. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities and is tastefully decorated and furnished.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

Earlier in the year, my auntie was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and as she was living alone our family became concerned when she started to have falls at home as her MND became worse. So the task of finding a care home began and we started the search for a suitable care home, something which
I had never had to do before and was all very new to me. I have to say from the very first contact with Cedrus House I have been very impressed with the professional way they have provided us with the information required, put together a Zoom guided tour package and answered numerous questions and emails to help us make the decision to move my auntie into their care, as they were way ahead of any other care homes I had engaged with. The staff on the Finborough Suite have been fantastic in the way they have looked after my auntie and sorted out all her health and care needs so swiftly. I would thoroughly recommend Cedrus House, a big thank you to all the staff for all their hard work.

My dad has been a resident at Cedrus House for six weeks and we, his family, are extremely happy with the care he is receiving. When we applied to the home to ask if they had a vacancy, the admin staff were very supportive during what was a stressful time for us all. The carers who look after Dad are
kind and caring and they always have a smile.

My mother has been a resident at Cedrus House for over four years and has been well cared for during that time so much so that she has improved in her mood and overall health. During the pandemic, the home has done all it can to maintain contact between families and residents and I have been able to
visit when lockdown restrictions allow. I am looking forward to my first indoor visit with my mum tomorrow to be able to hold her hand and take her favourite sweet treat to enjoy. The staff have done an amazing job of keeping all residents safe during this time and I would recommend the home as a place of safety for anyone considering the need for care for a member of your family.

My father has been a resident at Cedrus House for nearly 12-months; he was admitted as Covid-19 was rife. The staff have managed magnificently during all the turmoil, lockdowns, staff shortages etc, and I have never doubted their care for my father in keeping him safe. The amenities at Cedrus are excellent,
I looked at several care houses, and this one stood out from the minute I walked through the door. It is clean and bright, warm and all the staff are welcoming. Over the past 12-months, nothing has been too much of a bother for them. I am looking forward to the day that Dad can make the most of what Cedrus has to offerr as we put this pandemic behind us.

My mother has been living here for five and a half years and is very happy and content.
I am very pleased with the care and attention that she gets. Cedrus House feels like home to Mum and to us whenever we visit. It is extremely clean and very comfortable. The standard of care is wonderful and everyone
is very friendly. The quality of the food is excellent with a great choice on the menu. The standard of activities offered cannot be faulted.

Every contact I have had with the home has been very helpful and friendly, nothing seems to be too much for them. My dad has often said he can’t fault the home in any way. He has told me that everyone is so kind to him and he has a laugh with them, special thanks to dad's personal carer who is great
with my dad and helps him to maintain his dignity when dealing with personal matters, he especially enjoys the long baths he has. The company of others of his age has been a real benefit for my dad as he enjoys chatting with them and sometimes spends long lunches doing just that. He has also told me that if we had searched everywhere we could not have found a better place for him, so thank you, everyone, for making my dad’s twilight years happy, comfortable and worry-free.

We are absolutely delighted with the care received by Mum since she moved into the home in March. The staff are kind and caring and have time for even the smallest detail. Mum feels welcome, supported and safe. Her care is personal and meets her individual needs. Mum loves her room and all the facilities.
Her birthday was recognised and celebrated in a personal way. Communication with the family has been excellent and again support given, usually daily, to Mum to ensure that she can be in close contact with us. Whether this is using her mobile phone or standing to wave at the window. The attention to detail, and the following of protocols during the pandemic, has been excellent, which reassured Mum and comforted all of the family. Staff at all levels are supportive and thoughtful. They know not only Mum by name but also even us when we phone or drop off something. Cedrus Home is all that we hoped it would be for Mum.

Since our Mother moved into Cedrus House in March, we have been absolutely delighted and touched by the wonderful care she has received. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are attentive and thoughtful to our Mother's individual needs. What could have been a confusing and frightening
time for her has been quite the opposite. She feels safe and valued and we have seen her go from strength to strength since her arrival. She is genuinely thriving! We have had many requests and queries due to the lockdown and they have been answered by staff with patience and reassurance. We are so very grateful to all the staff at Cedrus House and so happy and relieved we chose this care home for our Mother.

Staff were very supportive in my fathers lasts weeks. They were very understanding in his last few hours when I could not be with him due to the closure of the home. Phone calls explaining his condition and the empathy showed meant a lot and made a very difficult situation for everyone a lot easier
to deal with.
Whenever I visited he was always out of bed, providing he was well enough, washed, shaved and smartly dressed. Great care and thought was taken in dressing him after he died which was very comforting.

My mother was a resident for over four years and was treated respectfully and with care. The entire team welcomed my wife and I when we visited with our dog and we enjoyed the experience. As we live in West Sussex we visited every month and phoned for updates in-between visits.
Having done extensive
research prior to choosing Cedrus House we were delighted with our choice in the Stowmarket area.
Mum died in May and due to the Covid-19 virus she died without her family being with her. However, we were given the opportunity to FaceTime her; thank you!
A five-star residential home for a five-star mum. Thank you all for looking after her throughout her stay.

My dad moved to Cedrus after a second lot of strokes left him unable to walk. I wish he had moved there sooner. We avoided a care home before because we thought he could keep his independence and activity longer elsewhere. We underestimated the level of activity and engagement there was at Cedrus. Dad
did stuff he'd never done before, like pottery, a race night (first for him), indoor bowls. He could also pursue his interest in gardening. He loved the visits from the children at the school next door. At Cedrus, they do things the way I would do them - the best they possibly can. There is a reason people love to work there.
The answer was always, yes. We can do that. The food is fantastic. It is a lovely place for friends and family to come and share a meal.
The staff became like family to me and to my dad, especially during lockdown.
I would highly recommend it.

Living in Australia, it is difficult to find a way to communicate with my mum in a way which is satisfying to me and positive for her. Staff at Cedrus House were most willing and positive when I started to email a photo letter to mum. They took on the extra task with nothing short of enthusiasm and
encouragement. Staff at Cedrus House have been absolutely amazing from the very first contact and all the way through the worrying process of moving mum out of her family home of 30yrs. The attitude of the staff at every level and in every function at Cedrus House helps give me and my siblings peace of mind, especially with the recent impact of covid19 on care homes in the UK. It is with great pleasure that I share my gratitude to you all at Cedrus House for the level of care that staff have displayed from the moment my sister's and I walked through the door at the beginning of our search for the right place for mum.

I would absolutely recommend Cedrus House as a care setting. My grandmother received exceptional end of life care. With staff showing dignity and respect at all times, nothing was too much and the staff were there to spend time with the residents. A compassionate homely setting with great facilities.

Job Title: Home Manager

I decided to join Care UK as a Registered Nurse in 2014 because it is a growing care provider that upholds its vision and values by keeping residents at the heart of its care.


A good home manager must be a great communicator, an active listener and an amazing supporter. It’s essential to be empathetic and kind in nature to lead a team well. I feel proud when I see the team and residents engaging as one big work family.


Being there to support colleagues, residents and relatives is the most important part of my role. I’m proud to have had several promotions within Care UK. My biggest career highlight to date was my internal promotion to Home Manager.


Outside of work, I have twin toddlers and enjoy walks with them, often taking them to the beach.
