Cedrus House in Stowmarket is a purpose-built care home that provides permanent and respite residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for older people. The dedicated team also offers compassionate end of life care.

The stunning Suffolk home has its own café, with patio doors that open out onto the secure, landscaped gardens. There’s also a hair and beauty salon, an activities room and a cinema room, so residents can enjoy a great lifestyle. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities and is tastefully decorated and furnished.

Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

Mum was very well cared for and enjoyed the many activities and the kindness of the staff. Sadly, she wasn't with Cedrus House long, but we know she was happy here.

I am a volunteer visiting Cedrus House every week, among several care homes we visit regularly.
Cedrus House is the best by far. It is a very clean and pleasant environment for residents and day visitors alike. All staff are happy, friendly, and helpful whilst still being professional and very caring.
The real test of a care home is how do the residents appear to a visitor? My experience is that they are very happy, they feel safe and enjoy life at Cedrus House. These words cannot convey how happy and content they are.

On arrival, we were always met with a genuine, positive, professional and friendly welcome. All the staff relate positively to both users and their family members. My mother-in-law appears to have a good relationship with the staff who cope ably with her mood changes and report anything they consider
necessary to do.
I am very happy with all matters and cannot commend the management and staff enough. Thank you so much.

My wife has attended Cedrus House Day Centre for over a year. She really loves going there. The staff are very welcoming and cheerful and they entertain her and see to her needs. The atmosphere is relaxed and happy. Sometimes I have a job to get her to come home! I would recommend the Day Centre to
anyone.

This is a most pleasant and attractive environment where residents can feel relaxed and confident of receiving good quality care. I feel what is most important is the calibre of the members of staff who have a day to day 'hands-on' relationship with the residents. As well as being efficient and hard-working,
the carers are kind and understanding; they regard the people they look after as individuals and quickly learn and respond to the preferences of each one. Although nurses and carers are busy people, they are good at giving feed-back to relatives and regular visitors. I note that the number and variety of activities have increased. Coffee shop and cinema are good amenities.

I found Cedrus House very comfortable and caring. Lots of things to do. We sat out in the garden this morning in the lovely sunshine and chatted together. The lunch was hot and very very nice as it always is. The carers are very kind and give you time to help you.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. My mother-in-law has been here for 5 weeks and seems to have settled in very well. It was hard deciding to put her in a home but was necessary. The home is meeting her needs and she is very happy mostly.

Sadly Mum was only at Cedrus House for one week, as she was receiving end of life care.
Throughout the week the staff (cleaners and nursing staff as well as admin) were extremely helpful, caring and kind, both towards Mum and our family.
We couldn't have wished for better care or support and compassion.

Positives - excellent nursing staff. Friendly, helpful, professional. Carers and cleaners also good and caring. Reception and admin staff also excellent. Modern building.
Negatives - too expensive. Food on 3-week menu cycle needs an uplift and change. Meat often too hard for old teeth to chew. Also,
meal times (lunch) getting later and later and more unreliable. Lighting in rooms and hallways inadequate (too dark) Recreational entertainment limited, often cancelled with no notice and uninspiring. Outings would be good. Hairdresser too busy.

My mother has been in the care home since January 2017. It is a bright cheerful place and there are never bad smells. Most of the staff members are very kind, they have built up a good relationship with my mother and look after her very well. After various trips to hospital, many of the carers go out
of their way to welcome her back. On occasion, there have been staff shortages and we have made a complaint, however, overall we have not found any other care home as good.

My relative settled in very quickly and seems happy with the care provided, although not a very social person and isn't getting the full benefit of all facilities.

The home is decorated and furnished to a high standard. My aunt suffers from Alzheimer's and thinks she is living a lovely block of flats which is reassuring as, like most people of her generation, she dreaded having to go into a home. The care and attention she is given is excellent, the staff are
amazing and so friendly whatever role they are in. I love the fact that I have access 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What a fantastic place!
My father (aged 85) stayed at Cedrus House for respite care following a few weeks in hospital. All the staff and management were lovely and extremely attentive. They were incredibly patient with him and treated him with dignity. They also kept me fully informed of his progress.
There was a wide range of food available and the place was absolutely spotless.
I would highly recommend Cedrus House to anyone looking for respite care!

I was really impressed with Cedrus House. Unexpectedly, my mother needed to stay for a week's respite care in June. The lovely manager visited us at very short notice, to meet us/take medical details etc, and my mum moved there the next day with her little dog.


Cedrus House is bright and cheerful,

very well-maintained and clean. On my visits, I felt the staff were wonderful, very efficient and professional but also gentle, friendly, understanding to both residents and family. They made a real effort to make her happy. Plus they loved my mother's dog, which meant a lot to her! I knew she was totally safe there, and she really liked the staff.


I did notice that although the bedding was very clean, the duvet was thin and lumpy, the sheets were slightly rough towelling. They didn't seem in keeping with the standard of the rest of this care home. However, when I mentioned the sheets, they immediately offered to get some different ones for her.

Job Title: Home Manager

I decided to join Care UK as a Registered Nurse in 2014 because it is a growing care provider that upholds its vision and values by keeping residents at the heart of its care.


A good home manager must be a great communicator, an active listener and an amazing supporter. It’s essential to be empathetic and kind in nature to lead a team well. I feel proud when I see the team and residents engaging as one big work family.


Being there to support colleagues, residents and relatives is the most important part of my role. I’m proud to have had several promotions within Care UK. My biggest career highlight to date was my internal promotion to Home Manager.


Outside of work, I have twin toddlers and enjoy walks with them, often taking them to the beach.
