Mum has a lovely, clean, spacious room which she was encouraged to personalise with family photos and of day trips organised by the staff in which she loves to participate. The boxes outside each room are a lovely idea - each filled with photos and mementos of the resident. I like the way the "front doors" to each room are decorated in different colours.

Cedrus House is very well maintained and is spotlessly cleaned by dedicated staff.

Staff are friendly, welcoming and professional at all times and interact well with both residents and relatives. I feel Mum is well cared for in a safe, warm, friendly atmosphere with a good variety of activities that she is encouraged to attend.

The cafe in reception is a lovely area to meet and have a cuppa with Mum and her friends.

Mum calls Cedrus House "Home" and is always happy to return after a day out, what more could I ask for?

My mother lived at Cedrus House from February 2017 to September 2018 and sadly passed away on 1st October. When we first viewed Cedrus we were impressed with the modern bright feel of the place and the welcoming atmosphere. We were very glad that we chose this care home for my mother to live the last part of her life.

It is a very comfortable, calm place to be and we always felt that the comfort and care of residents was a priority for the staff. We cannot commend the staff enough for how lovely and kind they were to my mother and also to us when we visited. They really were exceptional in the way they carried out their duties and how patient they were looking after people who need everything doing for them. We had great admiration and gratitude for these special people.

I cannot express adequately my admiration for Cedrus House and its personnel. The selfless dedication of its staff in caring for my mother in her final years made me very proud to have met them. I know that my mother was very well cared for and would have no hesitation in recommending Cedrus House to anyone.

We have been visiting Cedrus House for the last two months and in that time have found all staff very friendly and welcoming. The room we visit is always very clean and the residents that we see all seem well looked after. There is always some sort of activity going on to keep residents on the move and trips out are a regular treat for them.

The staff at Cedrus House ensured that the final few weeks of my father's life was comfortable and lived out in a homely and caring environment. It allowed him to have dignity to the end and everyone was also a great support to my mother, brother and other friends and family at a most difficult time.

With heartfelt gratitude for their professionalism, understanding and empathy.

I am a volunteer visiting Cedrus House every week, among several care homes we visit regularly.

Cedrus House is the best by far. It is a very clean and pleasant environment for residents and day visitors alike. All staff are happy, friendly, and helpful whilst still being professional and very caring. The real test of a care home is how do the residents appear to a visitor? My experience is that they are very happy, they feel safe and enjoy life at Cedrus House. These words cannot convey how happy and content they are.

On arrival, we were always met with a genuine, positive, professional and friendly welcome. All the staff relate positively to both users and their family members. My mother-in-law appears to have a good relationship with the staff who cope ably with her mood changes and report anything they consider necessary to do.

I am very happy with all matters and cannot commend the management and staff enough. Thank you so much.

My wife has attended Cedrus House Day Centre for over a year. She really loves going there. The staff are very welcoming and cheerful and they entertain her and see to her needs. The atmosphere is relaxed and happy. Sometimes I have a job to get her to come home! I would recommend the Day Centre to anyone.

This is a most pleasant and attractive environment where residents can feel relaxed and confident of receiving good quality care. I feel what is most important is the calibre of the members of staff who have a day to day 'hands-on' relationship with the residents. As well as being efficient and hard-working, the carers are kind and understanding; they regard the people they look after as individuals and quickly learn and respond to the preferences of each one. Although nurses and carers are busy people, they are good at giving feed-back to relatives and regular visitors. I note that the number and variety of activities have increased. Coffee shop and cinema are good amenities.

I found Cedrus House very comfortable and caring. Lots of things to do. We sat out in the garden this morning in the lovely sunshine and chatted together. The lunch was hot and very very nice as it always is. The carers are very kind and give you time to help you.

Sadly Mum was only at Cedrus House for one week, as she was receiving end of life care.
Throughout the week the staff (cleaners and nursing staff as well as admin) were extremely helpful, caring and kind, both towards Mum and our family.
We couldn't have wished for better care or support and compassion.

Thank you, everyone.

Positives - excellent nursing staff. Friendly, helpful, professional. Carers and cleaners also good and caring. Reception and admin staff also excellent. Modern building.

Negatives - too expensive. Food on 3-week menu cycle needs an uplift and change. Meat often too hard for old teeth to chew. Also, meal times (lunch) getting later and later and more unreliable. Lighting in rooms and hallways inadequate (too dark) Recreational entertainment limited, often cancelled with no notice and uninspiring. Outings would be good. Hairdresser too busy.

Found people and staff to be very friendly and professional. Having to put mum in a care home was a very hard decision but the nurses and carers have put my mind at ease. Could not think of a better nursing home for mum to be in. Thanks.

Meet the Team (1)

Claire Martin
Claire MartinJob Title:Home Manager

I’ve worked for Care UK for nearly a decade now. Before joining the organisation, I was a laboratory technician and a registered childminder. When I was looking for a new challenge, I heard great things about Care UK and how its people were supported to develop. That’s certainly been my experience. I started as a carer and have worked my way up.

I previously worked as Home Manager at Hartismere Place, where I saw the home grow and flourish. I’m now excited to have joined Cedrus and to bring that experience with me, building on strong foundations and continuing to enhance what we do and what we offer to residents.

I love walking around the home and having lovely interactions with the residents. They make my day, as do the great colleagues I work alongside. There’s always a lot of laughter at Cedrus House, which creates a great atmosphere.

Outside of work, I’m a keen biker; my husband and I ride all over East Anglia. I also enjoy gardening, spending time with my family, and socialising with friends.
