Cedrus House in Stowmarket is a purpose-built care home that provides permanent and respite residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for older people. The dedicated team also offers compassionate end of life care.

The stunning Suffolk home has its own café, with patio doors that open out onto the secure, landscaped gardens. There’s also a hair and beauty salon, an activities room and a cinema room, so residents can enjoy a great lifestyle. Each bedroom has en-suite facilities and is tastefully decorated and furnished.

Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible. There are no additional fees
for respite stays.

Please note, the weekly fee does not include hairdressing, chiropody or other healthcare visits or

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

Most carers are very good and very kind, however, some appear less caring. Unfortunately, most carers are overworked and have little time for additional niceties which can make a world of difference to the ill and elderly who have little contact with the outside world. Ideally, if funds allowed an almoner
type person would improve things. Food has been inconsistent due to changes in the kitchen and menus can sometimes be confusing or unappealing to elderly pallettes.

With regards to the care team at Cedrus House, I would like to assure you that our levels of staffing are always suitable to meet the needs of residents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, we do take your concerns regarding general attitude of the staff seriously and will arrange for a manager at the home to get in touch and discuss this further with you. With regards to the dining experience at the home, our chefs work hard to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements for each individual and ensure that there is always plenty of choice. Residents are given the opportunity to contribute and our team are currently looking at recent feedback to build into the menus. If your loved one has any requirements, we would be glad to accommodate these requests also.

The staff and the nurses are all very kind, friendly and helpful.
The food is well prepared and presented.
The lounge and dining room are comfy and welcoming.

My elderly aunt was in need of urgent respite care following a medical crisis. The hospital needed the bed and she was not fit to be left to her own devices. I was amazed by the support from Cedrus House. They bent over backwards to help at every stage. Simply superb!
After three and a half weeks of
care at Cedrus House, auntie is now safely back home. So much stronger and able to manage with carers at home. I cannot praise Cedrus House high enough.

I certainly like living here, most of all because all the people who help me are so kind and patient. I have the impression that, although they are always busy, nothing is too much trouble for them. It is reassuring to have a nurse always on the premises. I find my room and my bed very comfortable.
I like the coffee area, which is attractive and there are people about most of the time.

This was my second respite visit to Cedrus House, the first time was in February. This time, I had broken my arm and my wife wasn't able to care for me at home. I came to Cedrus House and stayed for 4 weeks until I was well enough to go home. I cannot fault anything about the home, the staff are wonderful,
so kind and helpful and the food is excellent. I was sad to say goodbye to everyone. Thank you.

Following periods of delirium, my husband arrived at Cedrus House, Stowmarket. A very confused and tormented gentleman.
Within a day he was soon at ease and had confidence in the way the staff handled his health problem. He was shown patience, tolerance and understanding and by the relationship building
to the staff had good trust and was communicating with them.
Everywhere within the premises were clean and bright to the highest degree. Would recommend Cedrus House to all.

All staff are very helpful and caring. Accommodation is of a very high standard. Communication between staff and family members is very good. Individual needs of my mother have been responded to with both compassion and efficiency. Catering is excellent and personal preferences are catered for.

My father in law has had a recent stay in Cedrus House! He only stayed two weeks as he was having respite while his wife was recovering from being unwell! The staff at Cedrus House looked after him so well and took great care to ensure he had everything he needed! I would recommend this care home to
families who like to be included in their elderly relatives lives as the staff here work hard to make people feel welcome! I would like to thank the management team also as they looked after my father in law when he sadly fell outside the home just as he was returning home! The staff called an ambulance and stayed with him throughout! He is now safely back home resting from his fall!

Made no effort to get hearing aid batteries.
I sent his prescription in the event of anything running out - it happened and seemed unable to get the medication pills replaced - either in the local chemist or to get their doctor to organise the local chemist!

I am sorry that we were unable to meet all of your expectations during your husband’s stay with us but are grateful for your feedback and delighted with the positive comments and fantastic scores for the care and support we provide. All respite residents are registered with our local GP practice in case they become unwell during their stay. We do however ask all families to bring in all of the medicines required for the duration of any respite visits as our GP’s are not prepared to prescribe for repeat medication for our respite residents or from a repeat request. I do hope that we will be welcoming you back to our home in the near future especially as you felt the overall stay was a good one and that you were treated in an excellent manner.

All Cedrus House staff have been very helpful, much more helpful and honest than the service we had received from social services. The care level within Care UK is excellent and very dedicated, no matter what time of the day or night. The lady at Cedrus House goes beyond what would normally be expected
and her help and advice has been fantastic at such a difficult time for our family. Our father is now thankfully being cared for within Care UK. Thank you to all the staff

Job Title: Home Manager

I decided to join Care UK as a Registered Nurse in 2014 because it is a growing care provider that upholds its vision and values by keeping residents at the heart of its care.


A good home manager must be a great communicator, an active listener and an amazing supporter. It’s essential to be empathetic and kind in nature to lead a team well. I feel proud when I see the team and residents engaging as one big work family.


Being there to support colleagues, residents and relatives is the most important part of my role. I’m proud to have had several promotions within Care UK. My biggest career highlight to date was my internal promotion to Home Manager.


Outside of work, I have twin toddlers and enjoy walks with them, often taking them to the beach.
