My mother has been in the care home since January 2017. It is a bright cheerful place and there are never bad smells. Most of the staff members are very kind, they have built up a good relationship with my mother and look after her very well. After various trips to hospital, many of the carers go out of their way to welcome her back. On occasion, there have been staff shortages and we have made a complaint, however, overall we have not found any other care home as good.

My relative settled in very quickly and seems happy with the care provided, although not a very social person and isn't getting the full benefit of all facilities.

Enjoys the communication with regular calling and help from carers.

The home is decorated and furnished to a high standard. My aunt suffers from Alzheimer's and thinks she is living a lovely block of flats which is reassuring as, like most people of her generation, she dreaded having to go into a home. The care and attention she is given is excellent, the staff are amazing and so friendly whatever role they are in. I love the fact that I have access 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What a fantastic place!
My father (aged 85) stayed at Cedrus House for respite care following a few weeks in hospital. All the staff and management were lovely and extremely attentive. They were incredibly patient with him and treated him with dignity. They also kept me fully informed of his progress. There was a wide range of food available and the place was absolutely spotless.

I would highly recommend Cedrus House to anyone looking for respite care!

I was really impressed with Cedrus House. Unexpectedly, my mother needed to stay for a week's respite care in June. The lovely manager visited us at very short notice, to meet us/take medical details etc, and my mum moved there the next day with her little dog.

Cedrus House is bright and cheerful, very well-maintained and clean. On my visits, I felt the staff were wonderful, very efficient and professional but also gentle, friendly, understanding to both residents and family. They made a real effort to make her happy. Plus they loved my mother's dog, which meant a lot to her! I knew she was totally safe there, and she really liked the staff.

I did notice that although the bedding was very clean, the duvet was thin and lumpy, the sheets were slightly rough towelling. They didn't seem in keeping with the standard of the rest of this care home. However, when I mentioned the sheets, they immediately offered to get some different ones for her.

Definitely recommended.

Cedrus House you are wonderful. My father was only with you for 3 weeks but you cared for him in such a way that I thought you had known him all his life. The care he received was excellent. The staff were so friendly to him, even when he obviously did not feel good he still managed a cheeky grin for the ladies. You made him feel at ease and treated him with care and dignity. When his time to leave us was near, you let us know that you were there but you were not intrusive. Your help when he passed away was second to none, caring for him the same way you always had. Care Home is exactly what you are - you care beyond expectations and made not only my father but all is visitors feel at home. Thank you does not seem enough for the time he spent with you.

My mother attends the day centre on a regular basis. As I needed a holiday, she went into respite care for 2 weeks. The staff were all very helpful and as Mother knew quite a few of them it made it easier for her to settle in.
The staff from the day centre took her over so she could see her friends on the days they were open and I feel this helped her a lot. She was treated with great care and dignity and was quite happy when I collected her.
I will not hesitate to take her again when I need a break from caring.

Thank you.

Most carers are very good and very kind, however, some appear less caring. Unfortunately, most carers are overworked and have little time for additional niceties which can make a world of difference to the ill and elderly who have little contact with the outside world. Ideally, if funds allowed an almoner type person would improve things. Food has been inconsistent due to changes in the kitchen and menus can sometimes be confusing or unappealing to elderly pallettes.

My elderly aunt was in need of urgent respite care following a medical crisis. The hospital needed the bed and she was not fit to be left to her own devices. I was amazed by the support from Cedrus House. They bent over backwards to help at every stage. Simply superb!

After three and a half weeks of care at Cedrus House, auntie is now safely back home. So much stronger and able to manage with carers at home. I cannot praise Cedrus House high enough.

I certainly like living here, most of all because all the people who help me are so kind and patient. I have the impression that, although they are always busy, nothing is too much trouble for them. It is reassuring to have a nurse always on the premises. I find my room and my bed very comfortable. I like the coffee area, which is attractive and there are people about most of the time.

Meet the Team (1)

Claire Martin
Claire MartinJob Title:Home Manager

I’ve worked for Care UK for nearly a decade now. Before joining the organisation, I was a laboratory technician and a registered childminder. When I was looking for a new challenge, I heard great things about Care UK and how its people were supported to develop. That’s certainly been my experience. I started as a carer and have worked my way up.

I previously worked as Home Manager at Hartismere Place, where I saw the home grow and flourish. I’m now excited to have joined Cedrus and to bring that experience with me, building on strong foundations and continuing to enhance what we do and what we offer to residents.

I love walking around the home and having lovely interactions with the residents. They make my day, as do the great colleagues I work alongside. There’s always a lot of laughter at Cedrus House, which creates a great atmosphere.

Outside of work, I’m a keen biker; my husband and I ride all over East Anglia. I also enjoy gardening, spending time with my family, and socialising with friends.
