My husband spent 2 weeks respite care in October and I couldn't have wished for better care. The staff were wonderful and looked after his needs in the most wonderful way. They introduced him to all activities and he took part willingly enjoying them thoroughly. I am hoping to be able to book him for a further respite stay shortly

Reply from Tracy Barton, General Manager at Leycester House

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, your husband was an absolute delight to care for and I truly hope we can get him back in with us again soon. Given how nervous he was about coming, it was great to see him enjoying himself and I am so pleased you got a much deserved break too. Take care for now.

My father recently stayed at Leycester House for respite purposes.
After researching a few local Care Homes and careful consideration, we couldn't have been happier with the care dad received during his stay.
The home is a beautiful place with fantastic facilities and activities for residents to participate in if they so wish - we asked that dad be encouraged to join in - he was and really enjoyed what he took part in.
Each time I met with staff at Leycester House I felt reassured dad was in the best place. The carers not only cared for him but invested time in him - I know they engaged in great conversation and ensured he had an enjoyable stay.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to any family looking for care for a loved one.

I stayed at Leycester House for 3 weeks, needing nursing care following an operation. The staff were all lovely and I received all the care I needed, willingly given 24/7. The food was excellent, three cooked meals a day if one so desired and very good quality.
My wife was also impressed with the help she was given when coming and going to visit.
Meeting other residents in the large sitting room for chats and a glass of wine confirmed the friendly atmosphere and satisfaction of other residents with Leycester House.

I think it is safe to say that I would be hard-pressed to find a better home.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review. It was an absolute pleasure taking care of you, so many of the residents would have kept you here if they could, they loved your piano playing. My mother needed respite care for 2-3 weeks, and Leycester House had been highly recommended to us.

We were a bit apprehensive about respite care, so I decided to visit before my mother stayed there. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming, and everything seemed clean and efficient.

During her stay my mother was very happy that she had a lovely sunny room, all the staff were kind, and the food was very good too.

When my husband and I were looking for a care home in the area we live, we visited at least 5 homes. Leycester House was head and shoulders above all the others. From our initial enquiry to my mother-in-law moving in, was exceptional. The team took time to understand her needs, likes/dislikes, hobbies etc which really made us feel reassured this was the right decision. The team are so caring, happy and supportive. The home itself, in our mind, is like an all-inclusive hotel.

The team could not have been more helpful when Mummy unexpectedly needed convalescent care. The speed and efficiency was especially impressive with the extra demands of Covid-19 protocols. Mummy could not fault the care she received. Her only negative comment was that she found the food disappointingly dull and over-salted for her taste, and she felt it did not match the very high standard of everything else at the home.

It was wonderful to know she was in such safe and caring hands. I was particularly impressed by the proactive approach in medical matters (and drug re-ordering). The other real strong point was their communications, not only with us children but also within the home. It was all very joined-up and everyone seemed to know what was going on at all times.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review Debbie, we value all feedback. I am so sorry to hear your mother wasn't taken with the food at Leycester House, it is such a shame we didn't know this during her stay because we could have asked the chef to cater more to her palette and...

This is my first experience of respite care and necessitated by a lengthy period of isolation between hospital procedures and the necessity for help with transport to and from hospital appointments. All my requirements have been handled in a professional, caring and supportive way. I am encouraged to use my call button for any need, big or small, and the response time is reassuringly short. Nothing is too much trouble. My ground floor room has access to outside space and puts me in mind of a comfortable hotel rather than my preconceptions of care home accommodation. Meals are also on a par with restaurant fare - who would expect dressed crab in a care setting? Leycester House has made a stressful period bearable and I will be eternally grateful.

Moving our lovely mum into a care home during this dreadful pandemic was a heart-wrenching decision but the love and care she has received at Leycester House has been second to none. Mum spent time on the residential floor before needing to move to full nursing care and the staff on both floors have given such amazing care and it is obvious that they form very special relationships with each of the residents. Nothing is too much trouble even though Mum's care is now quite challenging. As a family, we can always ensure a friendly reassuring voice both on the phone and support during visits. We know that Mum is getting the very best care possible from a very special team of professionals.

When it was necessary for Dad to receive nursing care in 2017, Mum promised him the best because he deserved the best, and Leycester House didn't disappoint. It was clear that Dad was in good hands from day one, and we were all made to feel most welcome when we visited. Provision of delicious refreshments, and being able to share special family occasions together with Dad was so important. We appreciated so many things, including the provision of transport to appointments and favourite places, and the little things that added to Dad's quality of life, including hair and nail cutting and weekly newspapers. As a family, we never had to worry about the care Dad was receiving, even in the last year when visiting has been restricted. When Dad became more unwell and sadly died recently, we were so impressed by the dedicated care of the nursing and care staff and the efforts of everyone to keep in close contact with us. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we can't thank you enough.

Last year we realised that our mum needed to move to a care home, unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions we were unable to visit anywhere. A friend highly recommended Leycester House as her uncle had lived there. From all the initial emails and phone calls and visits with the manager and deputy manager, we realised this was a special place. Our mum moved in last July and even though we have been unable to spend time within the home, getting to know the place and the people, the level of communication and care from everyone has been excellent. The senior carer on the second floor has been amazing, she has shown so much kindness and concern for our mum. All the staff need to be praised. The ladies on reception and admin are both very efficient and helpful, plus the help with the Pod visits/Skype calls and all the other staff has allowed us to stay connected during lockdown with our mum. A 5 star home that I would highly recommend to all.

My father became a resident of Leycester House for the latter years of his life. The standard of care provided was excellent, and the facilities/environment of the home cannot be faulted.
Whilst not wishing to single people out, I would particularly pay tribute to the team members working on the top floor. Their dedication to their work, and the upholding of the highest standards of care possible, during an extremely difficult period of time has been exceptional, and always with a smile, a laugh and a joke which is incredibly helpful for residents and their relatives - no request was ever too much trouble.

Thoroughly recommended.

From the moment our extended family met together with the manager when Dad had become acutely unwell we immediately felt we were in safe hands. We were comforted emotionally, impressed and reassured by the professional and clinical approach, but were mostly impressed by the experienced, patient and kind care extended towards our dear Dad and other family members. This approach did not falter, ever.
Every member of staff, from administrative to catering, cleaning, care and nursing staff were professional, kind and friendly towards Dad and family members; showing respect and understanding and offering reassurance at a time when Dad and all of us were so vulnerable and this continued throughout his stay and during and since his passing. As time passed it was clear that many of the staff had forged close relationships with both Mum and Dad, showing genuine concern and interest and understood Dad's individual needs and his sense of humour.

Above all else, the warmth and kindness shown will stay with us forever.

Following the recent passing of my mother who had been a resident in Leycester House for 3 years I would comment as follows:
From the moment Mum went into the home we knew she was extremely well cared for and valued. All the staff worked hard to help her settle in and for the last 3 years, she has been very happy. Residents are encouraged to take part in the many and varied activities, although if they would rather be quiet then that is fine, as their wishes are always respected. The home is a beautiful place to be with lovely lounges, rooms, superb food and a lovely bistro - more reminiscent of a 5-star hotel.
Whilst we always knew the care Mum received was second to none we cannot express the gratitude we feel for the love and care shown to her prior to her passing.

From senior management down, no one could have shown more compassion than the wonderful staff at Leycester House and for that, we will always be truly grateful

This is a very honest, genuine review. Leycester House has provided an excellent, professional, nurturing environment for my parents. Unfortunately, my family and I had to say goodbye to my wonderful dad on Christmas Eve. The end of life care my dad received was excellent. The staff provided a supportive, kind, respectful environment to ensure my dad had a dignified, peaceful death. They continue to support my mum during this very sad time which I know she is extremely appreciative off, as are her family. These are unprecedented times and all the staff at Leycester House have worked relentlessly to continue to deliver excellent care. I can not thank them enough for continuing to support my mum. I would have no hesitation in recommending Leycester House care home to anyone considering/needing nursing care. Thank you to all the staff.

At one stage I was under the impression that all care homes were very much the same.
This is defiantly not the case.
Leycester House is a very special place. My father was at Leycester House for a limited period of time, but I was taken on a conducted tour of this home 12 months prior to his admission. On his discharge from hospital, there was only place I wanted him to go to, and Leycester House was it. First impressions do count. All staff (and I do mean all) were so helpful and comforting with Dad, and were always very supportive with myself at this very difficult time, not to mention the Covid restrictions in place. I always knew Dad was in the very best place for all his needs, 24 hours a day. The receptionist, management team and the nursing staff on the first floor looking after Dad, a very big thank you!

All the members of staff are a credit to Leycester House.

This is a beautiful care home that provides a place of comfort to our senior citizens. Mum was resident for approximately 15 months in total and resided on both the residential and nursing floors. Her room was extremely comfortable and she enjoyed the view over the lovely courtyard garden, where she would enjoy the passing seasons, birds and daily life being played out. The carers really got to understand mum, and it was a relief to know she was there. Kindness and welcome were extended to us as a family and Leycester House felt like her home, albeit not the one she really wanted to be in. Initially, Mum was encouraged and enjoyed participating in the activities that were offered. Lockdown altered the nature of the entertainment and Mum's increasing frailty made her involvement more difficult. Mum was cared for tenderly and treated with dignity until she sadly passed. I would recommend that anyone seeking care for someone they hold dear, look carefully at what is offered here. It's a lovely home.

The Leycester House team are amazing! I cannot thank them all enough for the fantastic care that my mum has received since she moved into Leycester House in January 2020. The staff are so caring, so patient and understanding - they arrange such fun activities for the residents, and Mum says the food is delicious too! It is great to see all the photos from the daily activities too. The facilities are so good - really homely - and it is lovely that my mum could bring some of her personal belongings - pictures and furniture to add to her room. Mum is able to have her hair and nails done regularly too, and has been supported when she has needed any medical care. Through Covid, the whole staff team have been absolutely incredible to ensure that my mum has been kept safe and well during what has been the most challenging time for them. They also organised a special outside lodge so that we have still been able to see Mum during the pandemic. A huge thank you to you all!

I was very tired when I entered Leycester House. During my stay I became more relaxed, I was sleeping well and I began to wake up earlier, feeling refreshed and ready to get up. I didn't need my alarm to wake me, I began to wake refreshed. My family began to say I was sounding much better, relaxed and cheerful. My husband came with me, he has remained whilst I prepare a bedroom for him on the ground floor. My husband is 92 years and I am 79 years old.
