Al the staff and management have been wonderful throughout my brother-in-law's year at Leycester House. In his final days of life surpassed all expectation for which I will always be eternally grateful. My congratulations and heartfelt thanks go to each and every one of them.

My mother was moved into Leycester House in May 2017 at age 100 and in not a good state of health, but in the time she was there over two years, she enjoyed a new lease of life thanks to the fantastic team of people at Leycester House and we will be forever grateful for the love and care shown to both
mum and our family by all the staff. It's not possible to name individuals because every member of the team deserves a mention but we would not hesitate to recommend Leycester House to anyone. Ten out of Ten.

My father became a resident of Leycester House after a lengthy stay in hosptial. Within a few weeks, his health and wellbeing had improved dramatically, thanks to the superb care and attention provided to him and all of our family, by the staff at Leycester House. Nothing appears to be too much trouble
for them and they understand very well, the requirements of elderly people and their wider family at difficult stages in their lives.

I am very satisfied with everything at Leycester House.
The care and support provided are of a very high quality. Any complaints and grievances are dealt with very quickly and family are informed of the outcome.
There is room for improvement on a Sunday with regard to communication with the staff.
If you arrive at 12.00 noon or after, it is difficult to get sandwiches unless pre-ordered. Staff have said "no" as they cannot provide that service.
Reply from Linda Atkinson, General Manager at Leycester HouseThank you for your review. I will speak to the staff regarding your comments about Sundays.

My mum is currently at Leycester House and I am very happy with all the care and love she gets. She recently celebrated her 96th Birthday and they have provided a lovely meal for all the family. A special thanks to the chef and hospitality staff who helped at night.

As soon as you enter the foyer and bistro area you are made to feel comfortable and relaxed. The sense of space and excellent decor makes you at ease. The food is excellent and the staff are kind as well as trained. The rooms are spacious and of a very good standard. My aunt has always enjoyed her stays
here.

Although I have no real experience of other care homes, I cannot imagine any other being better than Leycester House and although it is expensive at first sight, it is inclusive and every request is given full consideration and fulfilled if at all possible.
My only negative comment relates to male
carers being involved in my wife's personal care. The point was made and accepted.

My friend (the resident) had a birthday lunch with friends on 12/04/19 and it was a great occasion. We were very well looked after - food was superb, high quality, dining room attractively prepared. More drink offered than we could cope with. A superb service all round.

Leycester House was a lovely place for mum to spend her last few months of life. The nursing and care staff looked after her and cared for her with kindness, love and dignity. Staff were always available to assist her and feed her at meal times and other needs throughout the day and nights. Staff were
well experienced in the care needed. The room mum had was lovely and pleasant to spend her days and nights in. More suitable supportive recliner chairs and wheelchairs would have meant mum could have been sat out of bed earlier and taken to events downstairs which would have been appreciated without additional costs. These could have been shared by other and future residents. At times her ensuite bathroom hadn't been cleaned.

My father entered Leycester House initially for respite on the residential floor. The manager and nurses could not have done more to care for him initially settling in and then as his condition deteriorated he moved to the nursing floor. His wishes were followed at every stage and he was treated with
dignity and respect throughout. Their care extended to the family helping us in every way. Nothing was too much trouble. Amazing team.

In 2017 I had never been in a care home but had the daunting experience of choosing one with nursing capability for my wife. My first impression when I entered Leycester House was that the environment was perfect for my wife,m it looked like home, and the welcome and information from the staff enhanced
that feeling of a family that would deal with all aspects of my wife's medical condition and support me during her stay. I attended my wife on a daily basis so that she felt that we were indeed at home together.
In 2019 my wife's mother needed medical care and I had no doubt that she and I would like her to go to the same place as my wife, where she had previously been as a visitor.
Leycester House provides such a comprehensive package that any needs of the resident or the family have been provided.
It has been like a sanctuary for my loved ones and the family, and it still gives me a good feeling when I go back.

Both my mother and my father passed away at Leycester House within the last year roughly six months apart.

The team at Leycester House care.

The team have a professional competency and efficiency rarely experienced these days. They take on complex and fast-changing medical needs and prescription

regimes seemingly effortlessly.

The team is led by a wonderful lady who will be honest and straight with you, with a depth of knowledge and compassion that helps put your mind at ease.

She, together with her head of respite care, made a material difference to my father’s last month. They and their team supported him with dignity and grace.

My father, who had been in situ there for about a month prior to his final week, was so determined to make it back to Leycester House for his final 24 hours that he made the most tremendous effort to be transferred from hospital A&E to ensure he rested in their care.

His actions speak more volume than my words.

My father took residence in Leycester House when he became too ill to be cared for at home. He was suffering from leukaemia and spent his last 16 days there. Not only did he receive excellent care but he was treated with an incredible level of respect and dignity. We too as his family were always received
warmly. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we benefitted from the emotional support available. It is a wonderful place with incredibly devoted, caring and professional staff.

My friend was only with you for about six weeks sadly, but throughout that time she had the best of care and was given everything she could possibly have needed. The staff were delightful and showed great respect and kindness. When my friend passed away she was not alone as the staff had found another
friend who could be with her. Also, thank you for making visiting easier by providing food and drink when it was an all-day visit.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.864)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.864) out of 10 for Leycester House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.864 for Leycester House is calculated as follows: ( (205 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 236 Ratings = 4.864
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Leycester House is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 78 registered maximum number of service users is 15.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
