an agreed hourly charge for this service.

The staff at Sherwood Grange were patient, caring and understanding as I dealt with an elderly step-parent in need of care for one month. I cannot fault a member of staff in particular, who kept in touch with me regularly for the entire month.
I would recommend this care home for future respite stays.

Sherwood Grange Care Home continues to be a safe, clean, calm, well managed and a fun place for my Mum to live. There are plenty of things to do but no pressure if it's not your thing. From trips to wineries, Christmas lights visits, news reviews, external entertainers, quizzes, the list is endless.
The staff are kind and caring and go out of their way to welcome new residents.

The team at Sherwood Grange genuinely care. When their longstanding resident and my good friend became unwell and subsequently passed away in the hospital, the team couldn't do enough, reaching out to me to pass on their best wishes in her final days. They were a huge comfort to me as greater experts
in this unique situation. My friend enjoyed her extended stay at Sherwood Grange and built strong relationships, helped by kind, patient members of staff. Thank you to everyone who looked after her. Recommended.

I have always found the staff to be polite, helpful and friendly.
My client is very happy here, she seems to be well looked after. The staff arrange numerous activities and arrange trips to London.

I had a stroke in March 2022, and after spending 3 months in hospital was transferred to Sherwood Grange for further care. I have now been deemed fit enough to transfer to a self-contained flat in a dedicated retirement complex. After spending over 4 months at Sherwood, I have come to consider it as
my home, and it will be quite a wrench to move on.
The management and staff are all friendly and professional and genuinely care for the people they look after. There is a varied programme of entertainment provided by a dedicated team, which is tailored to the audience. On a personal level, I have been taught how to play Crib, and I have shown others how to play draughts. I have promised to keep in touch and visit back when I can, and if my health deteriorates any further, then Sherwood Grange will be my first choice to reside. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who looked after me.

My husband will soon have been at Sherwood a year. It proved to be an excellent choice. His problems, apart from dementia and falls and bladder troubles. The home has an excellent protocol for avoiding falls and for supervision after a fall for 72 hours. The staff are warm and friendly. Any problem
I have myself have been dealt with sensitivity. I strongly recommend Sherwood Grange.

Sherwood Grange is a very welcoming and friendly care home for both residents and their families. I always found the staff to be cheerful, positive, the standard of care to be good and residents' individual needs catered for whenever possible. Staff always made themselves available if I wanted to discuss
anything. Despite the restrictions which the pandemic placed on everyone, we always felt welcome, and our visits were facilitated as best as possible. The rooms and en-suite facilities are spacious, clean and comfortable. There is a wide-ranging and varied programme of activities, the weekly general knowledge quiz was a highlight of my brother's week. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Sherwood Grange to others.

Sherwood Grange was recommended to me by a friend, and after a tour of the home and numerous emails/phone conversations with staff, I felt very happy to leave my mum for 2-weeks of respite care.
Everyone was very friendly and caring; they made me very welcome whenever I visited.

My father has been a resident of Sherwood Grange since January 2017. Some 4.5 years.
He has advanced Alzheimer’s.
All the staff are very fond of my father. They display so much affection, are patient and caring to all residents, including my dad. They became my dads family during lockdown when
we weren’t allowed to visit and showed him love and kindness. A special mention to three particular staff members for their care. The manager for running the home and the lady for organising excursions and indoor activities, which are very varied. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this home.

It is always difficult when the time comes to move a loved one into a care home, but I can honestly say that the staff at Sherwood Grange have bent over backwards to make sure that my mother's move was as easy as possible and that she has settled in well. When I was looking at homes for my mother a
few years ago, I was fixated on outdoor spaces, nice locations etc. But the fact is, nothing is more important than the relentless good cheer of the staff. Sherwood Grange's staff are amazing - so warm and friendly - and so much effort is put into organising events at every opportunity. There's a real sense of life-affirming aspiration for each of the residents, which, given my mother is 93, is both unexpected and refreshing.

Regular calls from customer liaison to move my mother from another home. Told that my mother’s needs could be met. My mother is very frail and unhappy and has had to leave. She didn’t like the food. Hard to get my mother to access to religious services, links to clergy which would have meant a lot.
The focus is on group activities.

We want to show our appreciation and thanks to all the wonderful staff at Sherwood Grange who have worked tirelessly during such difficult times. Mum has been so well looked after and cared for, which has been a great comfort to us. The new visiting booth has been a great success, and we've been able
to arrange lots of visits, which makes a huge difference. It's so nice to be able to chat with the staff when we come to visit, and to see Mum is so happy is wonderful. Mum is happy in her room watching the TV, but she also enjoys joining in with the many activities that are arranged and chatting with her friends.

I can only praise the staff and especially the manager for the way they have handled the difficult situation during COVID. They have maintained continued support for the residents and kept relatives and friends informed of the current situation. It has been very difficult for them all, but we are always

My mother has been in Sherwood Grange for just over three years now. She is absolutely delighted with it, and so am I and all my family. Most of the same staff that were there when my mum arrived are still there now. This has been great for her as she feels that she has some new friends rather than
just staff. The entertainment team provide a daily programme of events to which they put in a great deal of thought. It is very well managed and I highly recommend Sherwood Grange and I am very grateful to the hard-working team that have looked after my mother in the very difficult time that we live in.

My 94-year-old mum is currently enjoying a period of respite care at Sherwood Grange following on from a fall at home.
The only thing more difficult than getting into hospital during the global emergency is getting out again. I found the staff helpful and proactive in terms both of organising a speedy
assessment and being constantly on the case to ensure that all the elements required for hospital discharge could be aligned. Communication from the home after her arrival has been first class and she has received a warm and caring welcome. Well done, Sherwood Grange.

My mum has now been at Sherwood Grange for 3 months and it was the best decision we have made. The initial communication was excellent and the home were so helpful during the transition and move to the home setting - which was a very stressful time, probably more so for the relatives than for my mum!
The initial quarantine was not a lot of fun for my mum but she soon settled in and after the quarantine was over has made friends with other residents. The thing that stands out is the care and consideration shown by all the staff, admin, management and carers alike. We feel very lucky that my mum has settled in so well and now considers it her home.

My mother has been at Sherwood Grange for just over a year now. Initially, I felt the ground floor would have suited mum best as she had a friend there, but was told that people with dementia were not permitted to be on the ground floor, which was rather a shame.
The majority of the staff at Sherwood
Grange were very kind and worked very hard to help mum to settle in.
All the art and crafts, trips (pre COVID), games (e.g hangman), current affairs and music activities are excellent for those who like to be kept busy, are alert and able to participate. The staff encourages all to do so. I remember the activities team even tailoring an activity, in order to encourage mum to join at the beginning of her stay.
It is a clean and cheerful home. Pre COVID I was encouraged to visit as often as I liked. During the current pandemic, this has been difficult, but the staff has been very helpful in facilitating FaceTime calls with mum and have given me updates when I telephone.

Job Title: Home Manager

I come from Poland originally, which is where I did my training, and I initially worked in orthopaedics as well as in emergency care.


When I moved to the UK I moved into social care. It was my first experience of it, but I haven’t looked back. I’ve discovered my dream career!


I love Care UK’s ‘fulfilling lives’ ethos: I truly believe that moving into a care home is an opportunity for residents to live life to the full, with care and support. I see it as the start of an exciting new phase of life, and it’s wonderful to see the positive effects of what we do, and how we make people happy.
