Having visited on many occasions, I have found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful to both the residents and visitors. There are always activities taking place, however, it would be nice to see someone of the less able-bodied residents to be included in these.

Thank you for your lovely comments about our staff and activities. We do have a varied activity programme that we tailor to meet the diverse needs of all our residents which includes individual 1-1 activities for some of our residents who are not able to participate in some of our larger group activities.

My mother-in-law has been in Sherwood Grange for 3 years.
We know she is a fussy eater but everyone complains about the food.
She pays enough in fees to warrant a better diet.
We should not have to provide food for her, which we do.
She knows what she likes and is quite happy to discuss.

Listen to residents, not just talk about it.

Overall standard is very good, (excellent infers it cannot be better). The staff are attentive and treat residents as individuals, showing genuine care.
Food is variable but a new chef has been recently appointed so this aspect may well improve.
There are activities on every day of the week and many are away from the home.

Nicely placed opposite the local church also adds another positive aspect of the home.

Our father has early dementia and is finding it increasingly difficult to get around. From the moment I first went into Sherwood Grange, I felt confident and at ease with the team and the surroundings. Dad has settled in so well and we are so pleased to have found Sherwood Grange. It has taken so much of the stress out of the decision to seek residential care for Dad.

The ethos of Sherwood is that this is our home. The care given by the staff and their patience is excellent, even though desired staffing levels may be difficult to achieve at times. Cleanliness is excellent. The food may not always please some residents of different tastes but the overall food is well balanced. Fluids always! Rooms are pleasant and well appointed with fairly good ensuite facilities and activities varied and excellent for all. Management fully engaged with residents.

When mum arrived here over a year ago she immediately felt that she had "come home." Thanks to the wonderful staff team, mum's quality of life has improved dramatically since that first day. The activities team are fantastic and mum has been on a variety of trips e.g. "Trooping of the colour" concerts and a holiday to Dorset. The only let down is the food, which could be better however it is improving. Overall, I am very happy that mum is in such a lovely care home.

Sherwood Grange provides a happy, caring environment for my parents, both of whom are living with dementia. As a family, we are impressed with the facilities in general but it is the staff who really make the place. They are caring, competent and extremely friendly. We have witnessed numerous examples of staff at every level going the extra mile. I would recommend Sherwood Grange to anyone in our sort of situation.

We have used this home for several respite stays for my father-in-law. The staff are always eager to know when he will be coming back and my father in law has always enjoyed staying there. We took the decision to have him stay on a permanent basis at the end of August and he has settled in really well. The whole place is modern and open plan, the staff cannot do enough for us and if we have any concerns they are addressed immediately.

Putting dad here was an easy decision for us. We have used other respite homes prior to this one and I must say this one came top of our list.

Over the last few years, we have put my father into several different respite homes whilst we have our annual holiday. On the last few occasions, we have used Sherwood Grange. The staff always look forward to seeing him and when it came to a permanent placement, this home was top of our list. Dad went in permanently at the end of August and has settled really well.

Sherwood Grange is a modern open plan but very secure. It was exactly what we were looking for and close to home so it's easy to visit at any time.

Sherwood Grange is simply a nice place to be.
More like a boutique hotel with older guests than a care home, it is clean, fresh and welcoming to residents, relatives and visitors alike.
All staff - office and housekeeping included - engage personally with residents and their families, not just the carers.
The staff are all good but many truly excel.
The rooms are lovely, both personal and communal, with a host of daily activities that even the most reticent are gently persuaded to join.

I am thankful to have found this excellent place!

I come from Poland originally, which is where I did my training, and I initially worked in orthopaedics as well as in emergency care.

When I moved to the UK I moved into social care. It was my first experience of it, but I haven’t looked back. I’ve discovered my dream career!

I love Care UK’s ‘fulfilling lives’ ethos: I truly believe that moving into a care home is an opportunity for residents to live life to the full, with care and support. I see it as the start of an exciting new phase of life, and it’s wonderful to see the positive effects of what we do, and how we make people happy.
