My mother has been at Sherwood Grange for several years now and the kindness and care which the staff have given has been exceptional. They have supported my mother and our family through some difficult times, always ready to listen and do their utmost to help.

During the recent pandemic when things have been extremely challenging, it has been a great comfort to know that they do everything they possibly can to look after her.

My husband has FTD and was moved to Sherwood Grange on 19th January 2020, in spite of the lockdown the staff of carers, managers and lifestyle coordinators would appear to have worked tirelessly in extremely difficult circumstances. The home has done its best to keep things running smoothly, the staff are always happy to speak to me and tell me how things are, through what has been a difficult time. Prior to COVID my husband was involved in activities and enjoying the cheerful, calm atmosphere as well as the three-course meals and particularly the full English breakfast.

During an extremely difficult time for everyone, I feel that the care my aunt has been given during lockdown has been second to none. After speaking with my aunt regularly (which has been made possible by great staff) I am told the activities team are always on hand to keep spirits up and plan things to do while going out hasn't been possible. We have been kept up to date and my aunt says she cannot fault the care and support she has been given and to me that's most important. Again, shame the food is not the greatest.

Covid has been difficult for everyone, but care homes have been at the forefront of the epidemic, trying to protect residents from getting this virus. I have felt very relieved to know that my mother is being well looked after and that every precaution possible has been taken to minimise risk. Although under enormous pressure, the staff have continued to be very professional, careful, and kind. The lack of access to testing (the government initiated this much too late) made things even more challenging, given that many people are asymptomatic. As soon as testing became available, the home has been systematically testing staff and residents, which is very reassuring, and has helped the home become Covid free.

My mum has now been a resident at the Sherwood Grange for just over a month, and despite making the difficult decision to move mum to a care home, we are delighted that we were able to find such an active, creative and friendly place for her to live. All the Sherwood Grange staff have gone out of their way to ensure mum settled in quickly, even with all the restrictions in place. Mum is able to sit in the garden and socialise (at a distance) with other residents and the buddy’s, and we have treasured the garden gate visits. Mum said just this week how lovely all the carers and staff were and we can see she is now very happy despite the great change in her environment. So, so far so good and we can’t wait to see her flourish even more as she becomes part of the gang!

My mother-in-law came to Sherwood Grange just before Xmas 2019. The level of care has been very high since then. Throughout lockdown with Covid-19 the communication has been excellent. The level of care has been very high. Staff have worked exceptionally hard to keep the residents safe and happy. I am impressed at the level of care and effort. My husband and I feel lucky to have found this place and for our relative to be here.

My mother is quite a difficult and demanding woman. I really appreciate how patient, polite and kind the carers are to her. The entertainers are particularly good at including everyone, being creative, and they think hard and deeply about the residents and their needs. I travel a lot and feel very comforted to know that my mother is safe and being cared for while I am away. The staff at the home keep me updated, are very responsive to my queries, and are very good at listening to the residents and responding to their concerns. I have no complaints at all, and would unreservedly highly recommend Sherwood Grange to anyone looking for a care home.

The majority of staff at Sherwood Grange are excellent with my mum and her care. Apart from a few initial hiccups, her time there so far has been great and she is loving living there. She is very happy in the home and the facilities are amazing. We were concerned about moving her into a home but with her medical needs it became a necessity. We have never regretted our decision. Sherwood Grange is a fantastic residential care home and it meets all my mums needs.

Sherwood Grange is not just a care home. It's my Dad's home. The staff go beyond what is their job role. They truly care for my Dad and the residents. The home is very welcoming to all that visit. A fantastic opportunity for the residents to experience. The home is clean, modern, has a lovely garden and situated close to local Park. I can not praise the fantastic team at Sherwood enough, nothing is too much. I can honestly say I have peace of mind that my Dad is in a lovely, safe and caring home. I am so thankful we found Sherwood Grange.

The entertainments team normally provide an excellent programme of both internal and external activities, outings to the cinema, theatre, boat trips, London art galleries and many more. Sadly, owing to the current Covid19 situation, these outings are not possible, but the team and staff are really working very hard at the moment to provide a wide selection of activities within the home. The Management and staff are very caring, and really get to know the residents' interests and hobbies and do whatever they can to help them take part in these.

At Sherwood Grange in Kingston Vale, the activities offered could leave you pale.
Jigsaws, dominoes and also Scrabble - free to all who wish to dabble.
A hair salon for perms and sets, plus manicures if time permits.
In the cinema the space allows, visiting artists to take their bows -
Dancers dance and singers sing and funny tales make people grin.
The garden has some troughs with flowers - a cheery place to pass the hours.
The coffee lounge is bright and airy with scones and cakes, sometimes fairy.
The staff are lovely, one and all - all shapes and sizes, short and tall.

Three meals a day, biscuits and tea; I wonder - is there room for me?

Sherwood Grange is a superb care home in every way. The staff are kind, helpful, pro-active, friendly and treat my father so well. The room and bathroom are clean, spacious and light. The entrance reception staff are efficient and welcoming and the reception area on the second floor is well manned. The food at the restaurant is, in my opinion, the same standard as that we experienced when we used to visit a popular hotel chain with our father. They serve different starters, main courses and desserts every lunch and dinner time throughout the week - I often join my father for lunch so I know how good the food is. There is a cinema where my father and I have enjoyed the musical films they put on on a regular basis. They have activities like singalongs, exercise classes, visiting school choirs, poetry readings and many other things. There is even a hairdresser/barber. I really couldn't ask for more for my father.

I can't speak highly enough of Sherwood Grange. All the staff here were so helpful, first in helping Dad to get a place and then the care they have provided has been amazing. My Dad has dementia and it was such a worry, but now he is so well looked after and it is nice to see him enjoying life. The facilities are excellent and I enjoy visiting him. The staff make such an effort to make Dad's birthday special for all the family when visited. Sherwood Grange has given me so much hope that I can rest easy knowing Dad is happy and well looked after.

Mum has settled well here due to the care the staff have taken with her.

This has included involving her in events that she has enjoyed and wouldn't have been able to do elsewhere. Everyone who works at Sherwood Grange is very approachable and helpful. Certainly the best place for her.

I come from Poland originally, which is where I did my training, and I initially worked in orthopaedics as well as in emergency care.

When I moved to the UK I moved into social care. It was my first experience of it, but I haven’t looked back. I’ve discovered my dream career!

I love Care UK’s ‘fulfilling lives’ ethos: I truly believe that moving into a care home is an opportunity for residents to live life to the full, with care and support. I see it as the start of an exciting new phase of life, and it’s wonderful to see the positive effects of what we do, and how we make people happy.
