The Manor House Knaresborough

This is an attractive, modern care home which suits my mother's needs very well. Staff are caring, friendly and committed and take suggestions on board readily.

Thank you for being so wonderful. Mum is extremely well looked after. She is so happy and I am so thrilled. She is safe, warm, well-fed and really well looked after. It really helps me cope with life and my difficult situation as a carer for my husband. I am reassured she is being so well looked after in this very difficult time we are all living through.

The home is a very pleasant environment to live in. Staff are very friendly, but occasionally thin on the ground. My fathers biggest issue relates to food in dining room service slow, often cold food instead of hot. Quality of food, not the best, he ordered an omelette (mushroom) for lunch - it was a very small omelette, no salad or other accompaniments with it - this was his main meal of the day, portions small.

There are many good and positive things about the care and service in The Manor House, but not all the staff are caring and diligent. Some are excellent, which levels my answer to satisfactory. The evening meal is poor and the soup often cold. We have heard other residents complain also. The staff are prompt in alerting us to problems.

My overall impression is that this is a good, upmarket care home with a friendly atmosphere with hardworking, conscientious, regular staff at all levels as far as I can observe. This has greatly improved with the excellent home manager over the last 18 months-2 years. I sometimes notice there are staff carer shortages, putting more pressure on existing staff. (Need more good, regulars).

I am very pleased with the overall standard of care at The Manor House. The staff are very caring and always pleasant. The residents well looked after and their needs met. The staff are also very approachable and happy to resolve any issues, problems etc. My only concern is other residents going into my sister-in-law's room when she is not there.

My mum lived at The Manor House for a year and celebrated her 90th birthday there. The care she received was exceptional. The kindness of the staff, the respectful way in which she was always treated and the thought that went into her care are first representations of the wonderful place that it is. It made the last year of her life a happy one and for that, we have Manor House to thank.

My wife has been a resident from February 2017. The standard of accommodation is first class and the residents are treated by the staff with care and dignity.

Good, caring environment, loving, helpful staff and mostly well organised. Good standard of cleanliness and again really caring staff.

When a close relative is suffering from dementia, it is crucial that the team charged with caring for them has the expertise, experience, empathy and high order communication skills, which ensures that the resident's needs are met and that the relative fears and concerns are allayed.

In circumstances where one might feel very much 'out of depth' The Manor team provides the essential reassurance.

The Manor House is an exceptional residential home. It is purpose built, spacious and comfortable, and the atmosphere is relaxed and calm. The home is very well managed. The manager is 'hands-on', warm and approachable, and feedback from residents and relatives is actively encouraged. All concerns are taken seriously and addressed promptly as far as possible, however minor.

The home's greatest asset is its staff team. I have found the staff without exception to be professional, caring, patient and always respectful of residents and their needs. Residents are treated as individuals and encouraged to make choices, for example as to how much they want to join in with communal activities. The staff are always available for as long as they are needed.

Regular residents' meetings are held, and there is a varied programme of activities each week. The recent appointment of a physiotherapist reflects the careful monitoring of each resident's health need and general wellbeing.

We need more residential homes like this one, and we feel very fortunate to have found it.

Beautifully furnished, just like going in to a 5-star hotel. Staff seem very caring.

The atmosphere was friendly. The staff treated residents more as friends and than patients. This coupled with the beautiful setting and comfortable care made my stay.

The food is good and the home is organised and well run. I could certainly recommend it.

The one thing that is a disadvantage is the limited garden space. Nowhere for residents to walk when not allowed out on their own. This is no fault of the staff, they do organise outings and walks into town.

The care home meets all my parent's needs, no special areas of concern.

Very attractive accommodation - always clean, sweet smelling! Care staff very patient and tolerant of difficult behaviour. Meals nicely prepared, varied menu.

First impressions are friendly, clean, welcoming, helpful in any way to find, see and acknowledge any queries. The family aspects of both rooms and surroundings are excellent.
