Dad is well cared for, always clean and comfortable, especially now he is confined to bed. Leaving a loved one in a care home is the hardest thing ever, however, every single staff member has helped us learn to deal with this and the cheerfulness even in difficult times means so much. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone.
Thank you
Thank you for your kind words. We're so pleased our team's support and compassion have helped ease such a difficult journey, and that your dad feels comfortable and well cared for. Your recommendation means a great deal to us.
The staff at Upton Dene go above and beyond to ensure residents are looked after, are kept safe and get the most from their stay. I would highly recommend this residential and nursing home to anyone considering moving a loved one into care.
Thank you for your kind words. We're so pleased to hear that our team made such a positive difference, helping residents feel safe, supported and able to enjoy each day. Your recommendation means a great deal and reflects the care and dedication we strive to provide.
At very short notice the staff at Upton Dene made a room available for mum and I was able to take her in on Christmas Eve.
Mum had never previously experienced a care home but settled in immediately.
With constant care, three meals a day, which she loved, and careful attention to her medicines mum made a strong recovery over the next two weeks.
She thought all the staff were very kind and without their diligence and support mum would not have been able to recover and ultimately go home to resume her independent life .
We, her family, are also very grateful for the love and attention that mum received and wouldn't hesitate in recommending Upton Dene to family and friends.
Many thanks
Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback. We're so pleased your mum settled quickly and felt supported, especially at short notice over Christmas. Knowing our team's kindness, meals and careful support helped her recover and return home to independence means a great deal to us.
My neighbour Derek and his wife Muriel moved into Upton Dene in March 2023 as they were too old to care for themselves. They were happy there and found the lounges and decor was like a hotel, with plenty of staff to care for them. They joined in with activities, Muriel played bingo and Derek liked the singing and the visits from the Veterans association. They enjoyed the food as it was tasty and nicely presented with flowers on the table. Muriel passed away in September 2024 and Derek on 11th January 2026. I had chosen the home for them when Derek came out of hospital. They had to be house on separate floors as Muriel needed extra care but they met regularly. Sadly I have had dealings with three other care homes and this one was far the best. The staff made me welcome when I visited and worked hard. It is not an easy job
Thank you for sharing such heartfelt feedback. It means a great deal to hear that your loved ones felt happy, supported and able to enjoy the welcoming surroundings, activities and mealtimes. We're also grateful to know you felt welcomed and that the team's dedication made a positive difference during a challenging time.
My mum was taken seriously ill in April and was rushed to hospital. The staff at Upton Dene supported us throughout, helped liaise with hospital staff to make sure mums needs were addressed and in place on her return and mum was genuinely welcomed back with huge smiles and relief. The care given to us as a family and my mum in particular was superb, as always.
Thank you for sharing such heartfelt feedback. We're so pleased to hear how our team supported your mum and your family during a very worrying time, liaising closely with the hospital and ensuring everything was ready for her return. Knowing she felt genuinely welcomed back means a great deal.
He has been resident for over a year and we couldn't be more happy with the care and friendship given/shown to him.
It has taken the weight off our shoulders as we don't have to worry about his safety and health now he is no longer living on his own but is surrounded by kind, caring individuals.
Visiting (whenever you can at any hour) is a joy as always given a friendly greeting as is calling for an update.
Thank you for sharing such lovely feedback. We're delighted to hear how well your dad has settled and that the caring, welcoming atmosphere brings your family so much reassurance.
Mum has been at Upton Dene since June 2024 and is well and truly settled. The staff are so kind, caring and considerate and go out of their way to ensure the residents are well taken care of. Actually it's like one big happy family. The communication between management, carers and family is excellent.
A really good care home for my Mum whom has vascular dementia; & sadly my 84 year old Dad can no longer care for her. She is free to roam about as she likes - great rooms all with fully equipped disabled access wet rooms; she is warm, well fed and can go out in the lovely gardens when the weather is good. Thoroughly recommended & the staff are very caring.*****
Mum has resided at Upton Dene for almost four and a half years since loosing my dad. Mum unfortunately has Alzheimer's so was unable to remain at home. I cannot speak highly enough of the care mum receives from ALL the staff members. Mum has really settled into the homes routine, enjoying the weekly bingo especially! Thanks for looking after mum so well, it's reassuring to know mum is being cared for so well.
Caring staff, with happy disposition. Always willing to assist and support the residents and family members. Carers have a professional and friendly approach. Excellent amenities. Would be confident in recommending to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one.
I can't thank the staff enough who look after my mum . They work so hard and I can see, especially when she has been poorly lately, just how much they care about her . Thanks to all. Especially the ones who go out there way to make her laugh xx
My mother is in longer term residential care and has settled in well as part of the community. The staff are caring, friendly and helpful. She is happy, has retained her independence and there are plenty of activities on offer. The facilities are modern and purpose-built. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you for sharing such lovely feedback. We're delighted to hear your mother has settled in well and feels part of the community. It's wonderful that she is enjoying the activities and maintaining her independence, as this is something we truly value. We're proud of our caring team and modern facilities, and your recommendation means so much to us.
Upton Dene were able to accept my mother on a rapid palliative discharge from the hospital at very short notice. We were so grateful that my mother's last few days were peaceful and that she was treated with dignity and respect. All the staff made the time we spent there as good as it could be and we will always be immensely glad she could end her 101 year life in a truly caring place.
Thank you for your kind words. We're truly grateful we could support your mother and family during such an important time. It means a lot to know her final days were peaceful and that she was treated with dignity and care.
The staff at Upton Dene are absolutely amazing. My dad wasn't at the home long but I still felt they got to know him well & always ensured he was comfortable & happy. The carers played board games with him, chatted to him and reassured him. They included him in so many of the activities on offer every day. Dad loved the beautiful garden & the peaceful environment. He used to think he was in a five star hotel!
I found it hard coping with my dad's failing health but the staff that were sensitive and caring towards me too and they gave my dear dad the care that he needed & deserved right to the end.
Thank you for your thoughtful and generous feedback. We are honoured that you entrusted Upton Dene with your father's care and are pleased to know that both he and your family felt supported during his time with us. Your kind words about our team and the environment mean a great deal, and we are...
Dad lived on in the home for 6months following mums passing. During this time there was new management and an improvement throughout including new flooring, fixed heating as it was at times a little chilly. The activities improved and dad loved the exercise ,the trips out and the movies
Dad was very well cared for, he needed assistance with eating and all aspects of his daily living and these were attended to with dignity.
Near the end of his life I was able to video call him which I am extremely grateful to the staff for organising as it was very hard as I live in Australia. The food was good but a little more variety would have been nice especially in the evening. Thankyou for everything you do
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt experience. It sounds like your parents received compassionate and attentive care during their time at the home. It's wonderful to hear about the improvements made under the new management, and that your dad enjoyed the activities and outings. We appreciate your...
I cannot praise the staff at Upton Dene highly enough for their attentive, thorough care and for the kindness and compassion that they showed my mum during a very difficult time, following the death of my father. In fact, we as relatives were supported emotionally by both the nursing and admin staff who also helped us greatly in organising a small funeral service for our father at the home, enabling our mum to be present. Thank you
Thank you for your kind words. We are moved to hear that our team at Upton Dene was able to support your mum and family during such a difficult time. Your message will mean so much to the home manager and her team, thank you.
Improvements were made two fold when the activity's team member joined.
Some of the more established staff were first class.
Two members of staff were amazing during the night of mums passing.
Thank you for your feedback and your high praise for stand-out members of our team. We're glad your mum was cared for with such dignity and that certain staff made such a positive impact, especially at such a difficult time. Our team comes from diverse backgrounds, and we pride ourselves on...
She is like a new woman!
She's gone up 2 dress sizes (and is costing me a bloody fortune), could I be happier? Absolutely not!!
From the minute you walk in, you are greeted by two members of staff, who always have a smile.
The two managers on Mum's floor (the dementia floor), are absolutely amazing, as are all the fabulous carers, far too many to name, but I do have my faves!
Obviously, one particular staff member has always been my 'go to' as she was the first person we met, when we turned up, unannounced, to view the facilities.
There are daily activities, trips out, entertainment weekly, some of which I've been lucky enough to enjoy with Mum.
My only question is, is there room for me?
Thank you for your fabulous review for Upton Dene, the team will be so proud to read your comments. It's wonderful to hear how much your mum has thrived since joining the home - it's heartwarming to know she's so happy and well cared for. It's lovely to hear how you feel welcomed by our team and...
As she had not visited it previously, the aesthetics of the home were important to us and we knew they would be to her, initially, as well.
It feels like a hotel on arrival and has a large and welcoming plush area which adds to the appeal.
She has settled well and we are happy with the care she is receiving there. She has a lovely good-sized room, which she is happy with.
We believe they try very hard at Upton Dene to bring activities which stimulate and entertain the residents on a weekly basis, there are plenty of varying things on offer to suit different interests.
Sometimes the communication could be improved, but the receptionists send emails to the right department for us and will often respond to questions and queries we may have.
We don't live locally and so it does make it more difficult for us as we cannot visit her personally, but we do feel content that she is receiving the attention she needs.
Thank you for such a wonderful review for Upton Dene, the team will be very proud to read your kind words. We're delighted to hear that your stepmother has settled in so well and that the welcoming environment, her lovely room, and the variety of experiences we offer have made a positive...
By far the best care home after checking out many for Mum. Dad was also accepted so he could have a decent place to pass and spend his final days. The home is very organised and easy to get updated info on Mum. Staff have been fantastic during Dad's final days and helping Mum settle into a new environment after she had been through a very emotional and traumatic experience. Thank you to you all.
Thank you for your heartfelt feedback for Upton Dene. We're honoured to have been able to care for both your mum and dad during such significant times in their lives. It's heartwarming to hear that our team has been so supportive and helped your mum to adjust during this period. Your kind words mean a great deal to us, and please rest assured we'll continue to provide the best care possible.
