My husband and I greatly enjoyed our one week visit to Upton Dene and hope to come back for a further visit in a couple of months time.

Generally very good. Vast majority of staff are caring and dedicated. Not perfect, but wouldn't expect anything to be so. My one beef is communication between home and relatives. Very often a phone is not picked up when I call and certain initiatives, like being involved in residents' health plan, start and then disappear.

Due to Covid-19, many activities which I have enjoyed have not been possible, such as singers and other 'acts' visiting the home. Also, being able to enjoy shopping trips, theatre, cinema, visiting family has been curtained. I have found that the overall quality and variety of cooked meals available has also diminished greatly over the previous year.

I find all aspects of my mum's care to be good. My only issue is around her food and how weak she has become during covid. She says she gets potato and carrots for lunch every day; however, I have not witnessed that. Her strength is now minimal, covid has been cruel to her, allowing her to stay in bed she got so weak, I can't see how she can ever regain her strength.

Thank you for taking the time to review our home and for your kind words about our care. At Upton Dene, the team do pride themselves on offering a varied nutritious menu, with lots of options especially for those with a diminished appetite. Tracy our Home Manager is always here for you if you do ever want to raise anything. Best wishes, Fae.

On the whole, the care is excellent. Better than others I have seen. The standard of the public areas and rooms is very good. Most staff are extremely nice and helpful, however, a few need better people skills not just for residents but their families also. Communication with families could be better.

All the staff are caring and dedicated and have all been amazing during the pandemic. The manager has always kept us up to date with changes during COVID to ensure everyone was kept safe and well. Mum is happy at Upton Dene and I know she is receiving the best care in a loving and friendly environment.

Mum always seems well cared for. Her appetite is very poor and the staff make all efforts to encourage her and tempt her with her favourite Chips! I am happy as mum generally appears content. During this dreadful pandemic, I think the staff have been amazing and deserve worthy praise.

The quality of care and support is fantastic. The home has been required to adapt in the past year to significant restrictions but has always put the resident's well-being and safety first. The staff are excellent and always have a smile, even with all the recent pressures.

Always greeted by reception staff in a friendly and welcoming manner. When calling staff are polite and put me through to the nursing floor. Nurses and carers are lovely and take the time to give an update on my friend's condition. They are lovely with my friend showing love and compassion and empathy.

The staff have done a brilliant job in preventing Covid-19 from entering the facility. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and obvious additional measures in place, it results in residents becoming very lonely and depressed as there has been little contact from staff, and no visits from friends/relatives. Once the visits are allowed again, I am confident the result would be better.

Thank you for the kind words about our home and team. Our homes still have their regular programmes of activities and we are offering garden and window visits so that our residents can see their loved ones. Best wishes, Fae.

My Dad needed some respite following an operation and time in hospital after a head injury before he went home to build up his strength physically and emotionally. Staying at Upton Dene certainly did that, he was very well looked after, all the staff were really lovely to him and he absolutely loved the food and was very well fed. He had access to the lovely garden and he made the most of that as his room opened directly on to it. His room was really nice, he said it was like a 5-star hotel. I couldn't recommend the home and the staff any more highly, Dad certainly enjoyed his time there and would go back like a shot if he could!

In these difficult times, we really have felt supported as a family by the home, bearing in mind, we were unable to see my mother for months. My mother has dementia, and I was afraid Mum would not recognise us when she saw us again. This month (June) we have been able to see Mum through the window and in the garden, for us all, it has been marvellous. The staff are friendly and caring always, reception staff are great too.

My father has been a resident in Upton Dene for nearly two years. He has vascular dementia which can at times be extremely challenging. All the staff are warm and welcoming and always have a cheerful outlook. The home is always spotlessly clean and a pleasure to visit.

Although it has been difficult for residents, families and carers/management at Upton Dene, the decision to 'lockdown' at the very outset of covid-19 has obviously paid dividends. There has been no incidence of covid-19 at Upton Dene and this has provided us with a sense of safety and security. It has been a great help during these stressful times. Huge thanks to all the team at Upton Dene.

Upton Dene came to our rescue last December, my mother was taken into hospital leaving my father who has mixed dementia at home on his own. The deputy manager promptly came out to assess dad and he was admitted 3 days later. He received excellent care, he enjoyed the company, there was plenty of activities to keep him occupied. As a family, we knew he was safe and happy - I cannot thank Upton Dene enough! Outstanding.

My father has been at Upton Dene since December 2018. I can not fault the care my father has received since arriving. The staff are all very friendly and willing to speak to you at any time if you have any concerns. My father is on the nursing floor which is more like a hotel than a care home and has a lovely relaxed feel about it. The lounge is very homely and the dining room is always set up nicely ready for meal times. My father has settled in really quickly. Thank you all.
