All of the staff my mother has contact with have been considerate, polite and caring. Nobody wants to go into care but the Home of Compassion has exceeded my mother's expectations.

My mother initially was at the home for respite care but then became a permanent resident in January 2023. Her two principal carers were great with Mum and she was very well looked after by the whole team. After contracting pneumonia and three weeks in hospital, Mum returned to her room for end-of-life care but she responded to the attention given by the team and rallied briefly to have valuable time with me and my sister and her grandchildren. Thank you Home of Compassion.

We were very impressed and thankful to both the manager and deputy manager for facilitating our exit from hospital efficiently and as quickly as possible.
My husband was highly agitated and anxious and it was wonderful to be in the calm, quiet safety of the Home of Compassion.

They and all the staff treated us with kindness and care and our respite stay of 2 weeks was very good.

My mother came to the Home of Compassion having suffered a severe stroke leaving her handicapped, very frail and confused. We were all expecting the worst with very little hope for any type of recovery.
A year later, my beloved mother is playing bridge once a week receiving guests for lunch and able to continue with her normal routine.
That is due to the tremendous support, care and attention she receives on a daily basis from the Home of Compassion.

Thank you to all staff for achieving this goal.

This was my first time as recently had a quadruple heart bypass and felt that additional post-operative recovery time was needed. The team were very helpful and provided me with a support to aid my recovery in an empathic, caring, and professional manner. The extracurricular activities were immensely helpful and thoughtfully planned. My special dietary needs were catered for in a very proactive manner. Although there was a periodical change over of staff this in no way affected the care I received. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking each member of the team you really boosted my confidence.

My mother, she’s 93 next birthday, suffered two strokes last September and after eight weeks in two hospitals we moved her to the Home of Compassion. Her mobility is very restricted as a result of her strokes and hence we looked for a nursing home as opposed to just a care home. We looked at four establishments, all reputable, and the Home of Compassion was head and shoulders above the other three.
Our criteria for selection were: 24 hour a day availability of qualified and experienced nurses, the availability of care staff, overall safety and security and the quality of the accommodation and facilities.
Our mother has now accepted that the quality and availability of attention she receives at the Home of Compassion could not be replicated in her own retirement flat and the Home of Compassion is now her new home.

The national shortage of good care staff is sometimes felt in the Home of Compassion, but I’m convinced if you lived around the Thames Ditton area, and looking for work in the care sector, the Home of Compassion would be first on the list to try.

I have had an excellent time here and am sorry to have lost my husband in September 2022. Having faced illness myself, caught covid plus two weeks very unwell in hospital. My three children have been wonderful but the support from the home for me and them has enabled us to cope with the loss of a husband/father as well as domestic issues. The home is a wonderful place - unfailingly kind and considerate. Giving the resident privacy and dignity in the most intimate situations. There is nothing the staff would do without utter respect. This stay has given me strength to cope with my uncertain future. It is an expensive option but my children believe it is worth every pound. I have made friends with residents and staff and fully ready to move to the future.

Home of Compassion was all I could ever have hoped for for the final 4 months of my mother's life. Just after her 80th birthday, Mum was terribly sick when she was admitted to hospital last December. There, over the course of 10 days she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and we were desperate to get her into a place of peace and comfort. It seemed impossible but in a Christmas miracle, Home of Compassion had a place available to move her in on the 24th.
In the weeks that followed, Mum rallied under the loving care of the staff from the home and supported by visits from an amazing nurse from the Hospice. She enjoyed weekly movie afternoons and daily sit-down exercise classes, a Chinese New Year dinner, the beautiful garden, lunch with friends. These weeks were such a blessing and a source of strength when she started to decline again.

In her final days, the care intensified. Everyone on staff was so very kind. I have tremendous gratitude for all that they have done.

Our mother has been at the Home of Compassion for 6 years now. Over that period we have seen plenty of change with the home and families having been through the worst situation with lockdowns and the pandemic. However, the most significant shift in the Home of Compassion is that it feels that it is really embracing the idea of being a community, a real family and the best possible home away from home. Amazing inclusive activities, a lot of positive fun and energy and regular phone calls and feedback from the staff make all the difference. I know Mum is being cared for, stimulated and most of all, respected.

A fabulous Dickensian Christmas concert, which everyone could get involved in and enjoy. We sang, clapped, and danced with our hands, and loved the performances of the soloists and choir. The decor was imaginative and atmospheric. Many thanks and congratulations to everyone involved.

My aunt suffers from dementia therefore she cannot tell me in her own words how she feels about the home. However, she seems comfortable and content when I visit her. My main contacts are the manager and one of my aunt's carers. It was due to the manager who first met with my aunt and myself that made the decision to move my aunt to the home. The manager is always available when I have any concerns. My aunt's carer is an excellent carer, very kind. She knows my aunt well and can always inform me of her well-being.

I was confident that my father would be well looked after, as I had had two close friends, who had been resident at the Home of Compassion. Excellent staff all round and special thanks for accepting my father, at very short notice. I know he was very happy during his short visit and we'll have no hesitation in booking him in again, should the need arise.

I have been very impressed with the quality of the daycare activities but particularly the initiative that has been underway with the choir. Singing has never been a strong family trait but it is magical to see just how much Mum, along with the other members of the choir enjoy and benefit from the experience.
The concert they put on at the start of October was a joyous occasion for all who were there. It was wonderful that the event not only involved the singing but also the crafts and flower arranging that had taken place to transform the Bistro.

A massive well done to everyone who has worked so hard behind the scenes.

It was with a good deal of reluctance that my sisters and I made the decision that it was time for my elderly godmother to live in a care home. She had been having 24 hour care in her own flat overlooking the river and was happy.
However, looking ahead, we could see a time where her dementia and mobility issues would make staying at home impossible.

We already knew The Home of Compassion, as my father spent the last few weeks of his life there, and we knew that my godmother would be really well cared for there. Our decision was purely based on her welfare, and the fact that there were trained medical staff on hand when needed. However, what I did not take into consideration was the vast range of activities to keep her body and mind active. I was able to join her on one such afternoon, where I saw first hand just how brilliant the girls who provide the activities are, and how much she benefitted from joining in. I really believe she is as happy as she could be.

Staff at all levels are excellent. Meals are very good. Activities excellent. Nursing staff are very caring and patient. There are no areas where I can see improvements needed. The only difficulty is being able to afford it. There are very few people who can afford it which means the sale of assets (usually a house) to pay for the fees. Obviously, the provision of care at this level is expensive.

My mother is a resident at Home of Compassion - it is an amazing place and we feel very comfortable and confident with the care amd support she receives.

Following major surgery, I was made very welcome by all the staff and management team. All were unfailingly polite, caring, and keen to make sure that I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable.
The food is of a very high quality, and the activities provided for the long-stay residents are well planned and extremely wide ranging.
The building and the rooms are beautifully decorated, and the gardens with a wonderful view of the river lift the spirits and certainly help ones recovery.

I would recommend the Home of Compassion for anyone needing respite care.
