Could not have asked for a better home for my Granny. The staff are so kind, helpful and clearly care about their residents. Honestly 10/10 in every way! My Granny is content and happy and that's all we could ever have asked for with the transition. My Grandads always made welcome when he visits daily and he couldn't speak anymore highly about Ferndown Manor himself.

All staff have been friendly & really helpful. From my first enquiry at the home for my mum's potential residency (when she was still in hospital), Donna has been excellent - both attentive & reassuring. I am so reassured that mum is safe and looked after well at Ferndown Manor.

Cherry recently moved from another care home to Ferndown Manor. The support and care received has been wonderful. She has settled in immediately and considering she has dementia is very comforting. She loves the activities and has actually improved cognitively. She has made lots of friends and she appreciates the lovely surroundings. It's such a relief to know she is well cared for and I don't have to worry about her wellbeing.

Dad has lived at Ferndown Manor for around 14 months now and he is very happy there. After living alone, moving there has been quite transformational for his quality of life and it's wonderful to see him so settled and joining it with activities. The staff are genuinely caring and always friendly and helpful. The level of care has always been exceptional. The environment in the home is very welcoming, positive and full of life.

As a relative it's always a joy to visit.

I cannot thank Donna the Customer Relations Manager enough for helping me get my mum into Ferndown Manor within 24 hours of being told my mum could leave hospital for some rehabilitation after her long stay in hospital. Everything went smoothly with the help of Donna.
The Anning team who look after my mum are amazing. I have to thank Jazz and Lucy who have been amazing with me. Giving me the support I have needed to care for my mum in her rehabilitation.

Our family had no experience of care homes when we started looking. We visited Ferndown Manor and one other. Within the first 10 mins of our visit here we knew it was the right place for our mum.
The friendliness of the staff, the lovely environment, and the welcoming ambience. I particularly wanted a care home that felt more like a small hotel with no 'institutional' look and feel. In short it felt right here.
Mum's room is lovely - a good size, quality furniture, warm and welcoming. We were encouraged from day one to bring in pictures and photos which were put up on the wall immediately. On our first day, we had visits from Activities to learn more about mums interests and tell us what was on. The chef even visited to tell us all about the menus and learn of any personal wishes. The food is great quality and varied.

Mum has settled in well. She loves the staff and lights up when she sees them. They are so caring and make all the residents feel special. It's a wonderful care home!

Sara Muslin
Sara MuslinJob Title Home Manager

I joined Ferndown Manor in 2021. Before I joined Care UK I worked as a Home Manager for several care homes, and before that, I worked as a District Nurse Manager for 20 years.

I decided to join Care UK as the company was highly recommended and its values reflect how care should be delivered and how I would want to be cared for.

In my role as Home Manager, I want to ensure the home remains a happy, safe place where residents thrive, and the team is proud to work. I want to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained. To succeed in this role, you need to be a good listener, be empathetic, have strong leadership skills, and be a good role model.

Walking around the home first thing in the morning is my favourite part of my job as it gives me an opportunity to greet every member of staff and residents. I also love to see the atmosphere when residents are enjoying positive participation in fulfilling activities.

My biggest professional challenge so far has been taking a home from an Inadequate CQC rating to Good.
