We visited several care homes and found Oulton Manor in a different League from all the others. All the staff are caring and really do go above and beyond. Any problems they get in touch straight away. My mind is at ease knowing my father is being cared for properly and professionally. The care home is really lovely, and the food is great. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. But it's the staff that make it what it is. Ten out of ten.

Dad moved into Oulton Manor earlier this year following a stay in hospital and then some respite care at another home.
He wasn't happy there so my brother and sister-in-law searched for somewhere else and found Oulton Manor. First impressions were very good, and so the decision was taken to move Dad there.
I live in Hampshire so I can't visit as often as my brother, but I have to say I am extremely impressed by the standard of care Dad receives and the quality of the place as a whole.
I can't fault the staff at all. They are so welcoming and caring and nothing is too much trouble.

Dad is now in a safe and happy environment and he is very content to be there and we all know that he is getting the care that he needs.

I am very impressed with the quality of care provided to my mum, who moved into Oulton Manor earlier this year.
Staff are kind and friendly towards residents and staff alike. There is a great broad-ranging activity programme which includes inter-generational sessions. The home is very well maintained and the housekeeping service is good. I also understand that the food is good with a wide range of choices.
Where there have been minor issues, these have been responded to well by staff and the management team.
Although the fees are not cheap, the facilities are very good there appears to be a good level of staff available at all times, a good number of whom are very experienced and, by and large, appear very committed and happy in their work.
Overall, I am very happy with the standard of care provided to my mum at Oulton Manor

And am grateful to the staff team for making her feel safe and well cared for in her new home.

My dad has stayed at Oulton Manor for respite on numerous occasions, and he has always enjoyed his stay. We have used other care providers in the past, but Dad has definitely been most comfortable at Oulton Manor and has been the only one he doesn’t mind going back to. The staff are all so lovely, and I know Dad is safe and well looked after. As my dad has dementia, it is lovely that he remembers some of the staff members, so I know they must have left a positive memorable impression on him. Oulton Manor has been brilliant at stepping in at the last minute when I have had to arrange emergency respite. I can’t thank them enough and do not hesitate to recommend them and use them in the future.

In the two years of my mother being a resident, the staff have responded promptly to needs, whilst allowing my mother to be as independent as is safe.
Whenever there has been any health issue the response has been caring and efficient, with the family kept updated promptly.

Some of the questions are difficult to answer since no direct experience i.e food and drink.

My mum stayed in Oulton Manor in June this year for respite care. The staff were amazing and so caring. The activities were well thought out and stimulating. She really enjoyed the food and variety. The Manor was spotlessly clean with good facilities, and both I and my sister had the peace of mind that she would be well cared for while we had the break we needed to recharge. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone wanting the best care for their family member.

The respite care my mum is/as received is absolutely amazing. All the staff are truly kind, caring and extremely helpful. This is a great relief to both myself, my family and Mum, knowing she is at Oulton Manor has made a huge difference mentally and physically to us all. Just not having that worry is much appreciated. The care, support, safety and everything have been outstanding. Every member of staff has been nothing more than caring, polite, happy, friendly and there for my mum every hour of the day. I thank each and every one of you for all you have done to keep Mum happy and healthy for the three months she has been here in respite. Until I secured her a place in a care home in Northern Irelands, near to my home. Mum had a beautiful room and good food and attend, eg all events the home offered. Mum enjoyed them all. Thank you to everyone. Just need to mention fees in England are 50% higher than in Northern Ireland, so had to make down value for money.

Mum, who is 91, recently stayed at Oulton Manor for three weeks of respite care.
She has mobility issues but mentally is good for her age.
The care home is very well maintained inside and out and beautifully furnished.
Her room was spacious, modern and kept very clean. She really liked the French doors as she could see people coming and going.
Some days Mum was overwhelmed by her new surroundings, but the staff were all very caring and reassuring.
Even though Mum wasn’t there long, they really took the trouble to get to know her.
She was encouraged to join in the varied activities and socialise, which she did most days.
She was reluctant to ring her buzzer, but staff continually encouraged her to do this.
Mum enjoyed most of the food.
I miss visiting as I was made so welcome, and Mum says she will return if she needs to in the future.

Thank you to all the wonderful, hard-working staff.

The home is beautiful, staff are extremely hard-working and caring.
My biggest problem is the food. Both quality and quantity are very poor.

Given the cost of staying at Oulton Manor, it is shameful the food is so bad. This needs addressing and I will observe if any change is made.

After looking around several care homes in the Leeds area and feeling quite deflated, we visited Oulton Manor. The first impression was warm and welcoming. We were shown round and no one insisted on filing in forms, instead my mum was treated with care and consideration for what she wanted. We felt valued and listened to. My mum came away feeling wanted and excited about moving on. The past month has been wonderful for her and the care and consideration to making her feel at home, rather than in a home has been fantastic. As a family we are very grateful to all the staff at Oulton Manor.

My grandmother stayed at Oulton Manor for some respite following a hip fracture whilst living independently. The home cared for her very well and she enjoyed much-needed R and R for the 4 weeks she stayed there. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for her or us as a family. Would recommend Oulton Manor to all.

My mum has been in Oulton Manor since June 22, and I have had nothing but a positive experience. Mum is well cared for, her specific needs are met, and the staff are always willing to go the extra mile. Mum is on the dementia floor, and I am very impressed with the amount and variety of activities that take place. Making the decision to move Mum into dementia care was hard, but the whole team made us feel confident and happy with our decision. Well done, team Oulton Manor; keep up the fantastic work.

My mother, who broke her hip and is registered blind, went to Oulton Manor for respite care. The care she received was top-rate. All the staff, from carers and ancillary staff, through to management were always friendly, polite, helpful and, above all, caring. My mother, who is very independent, settled in really quickly, and it soon felt like home. It has a fantastic atmosphere with the feel of a hotel in the lounge and bar area. The activities they provided were fabulous and enjoyable - Mother loved the debates.

Although we were only there for four weeks, the care we received was amazing - allowing Mother to be both cared for and independent in equal measure.

Review from L B (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 8 September 2022 Submitted via Website

My review relates to the dementia floor. My Mother in Law lived there for a year. These are some of the concerns I had in that time. A strong smell of urine due to furnishing is difficult to clean. The garden was not secure and dementia residents were not taken to use it. They locked the windows of my mother in Law's room because she posted tissues/clothes out of them. Her toilet seat was removed because she smeared it. On one occasion I requested to speak to the nurse before for a medical intervention (we have LPA). My request was ignored and not recorded. One visit I had to ask twice for my Mother in Law to be given a drink because she was thirsty when I arrived (trying to get drips out of a cup with her finger). When she was admitted to the hospital (with dehydration and sepsis) the home gave me her clothes in a bin bag (she had an overnight bag in the room). Mother in Law needed three staff to support washing at Oulton Manor because she would lash out. In her current placement, they have seen no challenging behaviour. I wish we had moved her sooner.

Hi, my name is Lisa and I have worked for Anchor for 15 years but have worked in the health and social care sector for 25 years.

Before becoming the manager at Oulton Manor in December 2022, I worked at Millfield care home in Manchester. During the 14 years I was there, I progressed from team leader to home manager and lead the home successfully for 4 years.

I am very passionate about elderly care and believe everybody deserves quality living. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time hiking, wild swimming and travelling.

I am really looking forward to steering our home forward to achieve its best potential and delivering excellent care to all those who choose to live at Oulton Manor.

Sheridan BeckettJob Title:Home AdministratorJoined: 2018

I have been an administrator in the care industry for over ten years and have 25 years experience in total in the sector. Oulton Manor is like my second family, I have worked here since September 2018. I am extremely passionate about supporting people living in a residential setting and have a personal interest in Dementia and Alzheimer’s care due to my own family member’s diagnosis. When I am not working I love going on long walks, I enjoy reading and when I really want to let my hair down I love a good dance and sing-song!

I have worked at Oulton Manor since June 2018. In November 2024 I was appointed as a Deputy Manager working alongside the Home Manager to ensure safe, well-led, effective and responsive care and compliance throughout the home. Caring is a vocation for me and cannot imagine doing anything else. When I am not at work I love spending time with my family; I have two granddaughters whom I adore. To relax I enjoy shopping and holidays abroad.

Hello I’m Susie, I joined Oulton Manor in January 2025. I am trained in complementary therapies and have had my own business for several years. I’ve always connected really well with the older generation and am passionate about people living well. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my son and husband; we are a very musical family and go to lots of gigs together.

I have seven years of experience in elderly care, with the last three to four years spent in home management. Before joining Oulton Manor, I worked as an Interim Home Manager for Bond Care Group, where I supported several homes with quality improvement projects and the rollout of digital care systems. I’ve worked with teams that achieved Outstanding CQC ratings, and one of my proudest achievements was earning a palliative care accreditation.

My key areas of expertise include person-centred care planning, positive outcome management, and medicines management.

In early 2025, I spent six months travelling around Southeast Asia. Outside of work, fitness is a big part of my life—I enjoy going to the gym, running most days, hiking, and walking. I also love going out for nice meals and catching up with family and friends whenever I can.

Emma Franklin
Emma FranklinJob Title:Principal Team Leader & Dementia Coach

I am the Principal Team Leader working on Chester's and Oulton Manor’s Dementia Coach. Holding this position means I am responsible for leading on and influencing quality dementia care within the home, as well as giving up-to-date training for staff.

I have worked across Anchor homes as a Team Leader since 2022, with a focus on supporting people living with varying stages of Dementia; and have found my passion to be supporting and improving the lives of people living with Dementia. I find my degree in Biomedical Science and a short stint as a GP assistant have enabled me to advocate for my residents to have a better quality of life, both medically and holistically.

I am passionate about improving the lived experience of those living with dementia and creating a warm and joy-filled environment with varied activities. I enjoy supporting carers to upskill themselves and improve their knowledge around Dementia care; and I find it really rewarding to find ‘out-of-the-box’ ways to support my residents in a way that honours the life they led, and keeps them living full and joyful lives for longer.
