My dad had 2 weeks respite in Oulton Manor, he thoroughly enjoyed his stay and when we picked him up to take him home he looked a million dollars, we only wish for his sake he would stay permanently but he is too independent even at 90 years old.
Many thanks to the manager who is the most caring person not only to my dad but to his family as well. I would also like to mention the carer who looked after my dad she is worth her weight in gold, and my dad has said what a wonderful lady she is caring for all his needs. These are just the people we know but I would like to thank everyone in that home you are all amazing!

Thank you for all you have done. Bless you all.

Care home decisions - what a nightmare! However, from my initial enquiry until admission for my mother. I have nothing bad to say. Every contact has been welcoming, friendly, professional and caring. It's early days but I have no reason to doubt the experience will continue.

My Dad experienced a very difficult time over Christmas with depression, anxiety and confusion. It became apparent until we managed to steady his mental state he couldn't live alone.
After viewing a number of homes I chose Oulton Manor. From walking in the doors, speaking to the staff, viewing the facilities I was very impressed. The decor is very tasteful whilst being a relaxing environment. Extremely clean and all the staff members, even though they are busy in these challenging times, stop to chat and are very helpful.
My Dad is making a good recovery and is due to go home soon. This is partly thanks to Oulton Manor and their team. They have truly made a difference and really do care about their residents.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Oulton Manor.

When we found ourselves at a difficult crossroads in my sisters health needs, the team at Oulton Manor were very helpful. On the initial enquiry, the manager responded to concerns in a sensitive manner whilst providing clear information about the care home and how my sister would be supported. On admission, other members of staff welcomed my sister with kind words and a friendly manner making every effort to making her feel happy and settled.

The care staff are always willing to take the time to talk about my sister’s care needs and make any changes they feel are possible to support her health and well - being. Rooms are kept very clean and meals are plentiful and varied.

Despite my Grannys comples care needs, she is always very well cared for. As someone working in healthcare, I know how much work it can be to care properly for someone like my Granny. My family and I can trust Oulton Manor fully, knowing her carers love her and that they have her best interests at heart. We are so grateful.

I cannot thank Oulton Manor enough on behalf of my mothers whole family.
She is nearing 95 quite a stubborn lady with her strong character opinions.
Countless times asked due to her extremely limited mobility not to walk with zimmer frame alone, to always request help from a carer.
She's always had a bee in her bonnet that she must have clothes out ready for the morning. (Many times told by carers they will bring clothes for her to pick)
She fell cutting her head Sunday 2nd January after lunch, an ambulance was called.
3 members of staff went above and beyond their remit.
To which I am very grateful.
I believe senior carer, liaised with me for all updates.
The staff member who checked her every half hour, during the night, after having xrays and MRI scan. Most of all I think the young carer, she never left my injured and frightened Mum's side over 4 hours awaiting ambulance.

Thank you Oulton Manor I always knew you gave that extra other establishments would not be able to give.

Oulton Manor is amazing for my Dad he has completely turned a corner in this home. The staff and management are brilliant, so helpful and friendly. The home is spotless, our experience has been second to none. Can not complain about anything. We thought we were going to lose Dad with his deep depression but he is like a new man being in Oulton Manor. 5 Stars to everyone.

My mum moved in to Oulton Manor in October and received a very warm welcome from all the staff. It was a very difficult decision for me and my sister but the team at Oulton Manor made the process as easy as they could and we feel so lucky to have secured a place for our mum there. All the staff are lovely and caring and nothing is too much trouble. All aspects of her care have been discussed with us all her care needs have been met allowing mum to maintain some independence and dignity. Thank you Oulton Manor!

Both my parents are residents at Oulton Manor due to suffering strokes and other medical conditions in June. The service by the staff has been nothing short of exemplary in all areas, to a challenging situation with regards to my parents illness and conditions, and I could not have expected or asked for better.

My 95-year-old mother came for a month of respite care in August. I felt very confident leaving her, and the care she has been given has been excellent throughout her stay. The staff have been delightful and caring towards her. She was very unsure about coming but left saying she will definitely be returning. I can’t thank you all enough.

My 89-year-old mum with Parkinson's stayed for a month’s respite. She was well looked after. Whilst we had some minor concerns, these were brought to the attention of the management and were speedily dealt with.
Having collected my mum, we have spoken to the manager and mentioned some specific issues (meal times, application of medication, access to rooms, shower), explanations were given for these issues.

My mum is looking forward to her return visit.

Poor reception service, often doesn’t exist. Phone doesn’t answer and even when you book an appointment and arrive on time to visit the resident, it’s like they don’t know you’re coming. I’ve waited in the lobby for 15 mins today waiting for someone to answer the door, I had to phone in to get any attention then wait a bit longer. Reception staff needed at a desk on the weekend, it is very frustrating. What’s the point in booking a slot to then be 20 minutes waiting to see the family member. Very poor service makes visits difficult. Please improve.

Mum has only been in the home for 2-weeks, but I am impressed by the care taken by all the staff to settle her in and to help her adjust to her new home. From our first visit to see what the home was like, we have been impressed by the friendliness of all the staff and their willingness to answer all our questions and provide us with all the information, we needed about fees, care and meals etc. The home is very well furnished and is more like a hotel with lovely lounges and dining rooms on each floor that are spacious and look lovely with tablecloths etc. The rooms are nicely furnished, and each one has a beautiful ensuite shower room. Everyone at Oulton Manor has been helpful since Mum moved in, providing her with a phone and making sure her TV worked properly etc. It is great to see that she is lovely and clean and well looked after.

The accommodation and grounds are hotel standard, a fabulous large lounge with bar. Lovely dining room with tablecloths and material napkins. Residents are treated with dignity and care. These last 14-months have been awful, but I have been relieved to know that he was being well looked after. Lots of the staff have been there since he moved in, and they have been like his second family. They genuinely care and support him and have helped him retain his dignity and independence as much as possible. Always helpful, and ring to update if Dad is unwell. Excellent nursing care (district nurse) and local doctors, who regularly visit. Grounds colourfully all year.

Our mother has been a resident at Oulton Manor for over 3 years and during that time her care has been exceptional especially during the last 12 covid related months. By having a qualified nurse leading the team and a weekly home check by the nurse prescriber we know medical problems are dealt with quickly. Again keeping regular staff give us confidence that residents' personalities are understood and we know that the home is always looking at ways to make the day to day living of the residents as comfortable as possible.

Lisa OwensJob Title:ManagerJoined: 2022

Hi, my name is Lisa and I have worked for Anchor for 15 years but have worked in the health and social care sector for 25 years.

Before becoming the manager at Oulton Manor in December 2022, I worked at Millfield care home in Manchester. During the 14 years I was there, I progressed from team leader to home manager and lead the home successfully for 4 years.

I am very passionate about elderly care and believe everybody deserves quality living. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time hiking, wild swimming and travelling.

I am really looking forward to steering our home forward to achieve its best potential and delivering excellent care to all those who choose to live at Oulton Manor.

Sheridan Beckett
Sheridan BeckettJob Title:Home AdministratorJoined: 2018

I have been an administrator in the care industry for over ten years and have 25 years experience in total in the sector. Oulton Manor is like my second family, I have worked here since September 2018. I am extremely passionate about supporting people living in a residential setting and have a personal interest in Dementia and Alzheimer’s care due to my own family member’s diagnosis. When I am not working I love going on long walks, I enjoy reading and when I really want to let my hair down I love a good dance and sing-song!

Nicola Wood
Nicola WoodJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2018

I have worked at Oulton Manor since June 2018. In November 2024 I was appointed as a Deputy Manager working alongside the Home Manager to ensure safe, well-led, effective and responsive care and compliance throughout the home. Caring is a vocation for me and cannot imagine doing anything else. When I am not at work I love spending time with my family; I have two granddaughters whom I adore. To relax I enjoy shopping and holidays abroad.

Susie Dodd
Susie DoddJob Title:Activities CoordinatorJoined: 2025

Hello I’m Susie, I joined Oulton Manor in January 2025. I am trained in complementary therapies and have had my own business for several years. I’ve always connected really well with the older generation and am passionate about people living well. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my son and husband; we are a very musical family and go to lots of gigs together.

Mark Anderson
Mark AndersonJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2025

I have seven years of experience in elderly care, with the last three to four years spent in home management. Before joining Oulton Manor, I worked as an Interim Home Manager for Bond Care Group, where I supported several homes with quality improvement projects and the rollout of digital care systems. I’ve worked with teams that achieved Outstanding CQC ratings, and one of my proudest achievements was earning a palliative care accreditation.

My key areas of expertise include person-centred care planning, positive outcome management, and medicines management.

In early 2025, I spent six months travelling around Southeast Asia. Outside of work, fitness is a big part of my life—I enjoy going to the gym, running most days, hiking, and walking. I also love going out for nice meals and catching up with family and friends whenever I can.

Emma Franklin
Emma FranklinJob Title:Principal Team Leader & Dementia Coach

I am the Principal Team Leader working on Chester's and Oulton Manor’s Dementia Coach. Holding this position means I am responsible for leading on and influencing quality dementia care within the home, as well as giving up-to-date training for staff.

I have worked across Anchor homes as a Team Leader since 2022, with a focus on supporting people living with varying stages of Dementia; and have found my passion to be supporting and improving the lives of people living with Dementia. I find my degree in Biomedical Science and a short stint as a GP assistant have enabled me to advocate for my residents to have a better quality of life, both medically and holistically.

I am passionate about improving the lived experience of those living with dementia and creating a warm and joy-filled environment with varied activities. I enjoy supporting carers to upskill themselves and improve their knowledge around Dementia care; and I find it really rewarding to find ‘out-of-the-box’ ways to support my residents in a way that honours the life they led, and keeps them living full and joyful lives for longer.
