Wellington Vale is an environment that will one day be typical of what care looks like for people that need it.

Until then, in my opinion, Wellington Vale is an oasis amongst a sea of care providers.

The food is top class and plentiful (often 3 courses).
The interior is modern clean and new.
The

furniture is new and the Nursing floor is hospital standard.
There is a manned reception area.
They have numerous comfortable lounges.
They have an on-site hairdresser that visits in a purpose built salon.
The range of activities is regular and interesting.
The care staff are friendly and down to earth.
The outside gardens are beautifully kept and are a relaxing place to sit.

I could go on but I think you get the picture.

I highly recommend you visit to see for yourself.

Mum has had a lovely time at Wellington Vales for her week's respite care. All the staff were very warm and friendly. They took the time to chat with her each day and even took her on a couple of local walks. The home is light, bright, modern and warm. The garden is beautiful and mum enjoyed sitting
out there every day. We are definitely going to book further respite care for her at Wellington Vale.
Thank you everybody.

My mother had a bad fall and she required some respite care. Having lived on her own for the last 9 years after the death of my father, my 90-year-old mum was also not happy to mix with others of her age. Mum has spent the last 5 weeks at Wellington Vale and the transformation has been fantastic. This
is down to the quality of the staff, the residents, even the amazing facility. Have looked for faults but can't find any. Thank you.

A very welcoming atmosphere especially when whole experience new.
All the staff are very patient and caring and there in an instant when necessary. Impressed with the activities team and all they do. Alos, plenty of quiet spaces in the lounges to go to. Plenty of freedom to move around when resident
able.

My wife and I have lived together for 64 years but now find it necessary for her to have full-time care, which is being provided in excellent fashion. All members of staff (from management to housekeeping and all levels in between) are fully competent, friendly and committed. I could wish for no more.

My 92-year-old mother went into Wellington Vale following a fall at home that resulted in 2 weeks in hospital during which time she lost the little mobility she had. After 3 weeks in Wellington Vale, her mobility was improving. She was loving the care and attention from the friendly staff, from whom
nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and she really enjoyed the organised activities. Mum's short time at the home was a really happy experience both for her and her family who had the peace of mind knowing how well she was cared for.

Mum often commented on how kind and caring all the staff are. She really enjoyed the food and there is an excellent choice of menu. The rooms and the decor are lovely. She was pleased to have her own phone in her room to keep in contact with friends and family. There is a very good liaison with the
GP and community nurses so all her needs have been met.

Although we experienced a change of manager midway into my 3-week stay, the management and other staff maintained an excellent standard overall. Ease of communication with care staff and immediate response to requests during day and night sessions was evident. Many facilities are available with the
home and a mini-coach is on-site. The activities personnel is excellent. Every day different activities are arranged which are enjoyable and therapeutic; outside speakers etc, spend time at the home, so that variety of hobbies are covered. There is a hairdressing unit in the home and a chiropodist visits. The large dining room is pleasantly arranged, service from the chef is outstanding. Outside the grounds are well maintained. The view from some rooms cannot be more lovely. In a residential area, one does not expect this and the rooms are spacious, each with its own ensuite. Excellent.

The prospect of looking for a care home filled me with dread and after looking at a few Residential Homes it didn't make me feel any better.
Looking at Wellington Vale was the best thing I ever did, costs were on a par with other residential homes but the standards were massively different.
The staff
are absolutely superb, I cannot fault them, they are so good I wanted to move in!
The standards are those you would only expect to find in a 4* hotel, the furnishings are 'normal' and not the chairs around the outside of the room that I had seen before in other homes.
The rooms are of a very high standard and it is surprisingly quiet inside.
The is a coffee area which you can help yourself to coffee, hairdressers, manicurist, restaurant, patio area, picnic area, everything you would want to find.
I cannot recommend the home enough, it is superb, the facilities are superb but most of all the staff and management are fantastic!

On first impression, very much like a hotel. Cleanliness is good/excellent, the staff are very friendly and at every different time that I have visited, there has, from my observation, been no bad treatment of people in the home. The interaction between the staff and patients is good. No undercurrents
of nastiness.
The staff are very attentive and do look after the patients, clients. I would definitely book a place for me and also a stay would be good.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.987)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.987) out of 10 for Wellington Vale Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 59 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 59 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.987 for Wellington Vale Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (695 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 704 Ratings = 4.987
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wellington Vale Care Home is based on 59 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 59 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

What I Do:
As the general manager I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the home. I support and lead every department and team member to ensure we deliver quality care and the best home experience we can to our wonderful residents. It is also very important for me to be available for our residents and their families, to remind them my door is always open, and they are welcome!

My Experience:
I have had the privilege of working in care since the age of 17. My very first role was as a care assistant and then I worked hard to gain the qualifications and experience to become a registered nurse specialising in Orthopaedics. I have always had a passion for working with our elderly population and transitioned over to the social care sector.

I have worked within both large and small organisations and have been in a variety of roles including 'Head of Care and Operations Director’. After a career change joining Hampshire Constabulary for a period of 6 years, my heart took me back to working again with the elderly which I love.

About Me:
My out-of-office activities have included obtaining the rank of Captain in the Territorial Army, something I am very proud of. I really enjoy keeping active in various sports including boot camp and I am currently training for a 100-mile walking challenge. I very much look forward to meeting you at Wellington Vale.

Job Title: Home Admissions Advisor Joined: 2020

What I Do:

As the Home Admission Advisor, I am the main point of contact for new residents and their families. I guide and support them through the decision process of choosing a care home by providing them with information on the choice of our care options, facilities, and the expertise of our team. The best way for residents and families to ‘feel’ our beautiful home is to tour it, so I love to show them around and give them an opportunity to see for themselves everything we have to offer and to meet our incredible team!

My Experience:

I returned to the UK in 2012 after working in Ibiza & Italy in the Tourism sector for 14 years. On my return, I joined the music and entertainment industry, managing DJs and acts from home before venturing back out into the workplace and joining the Wellington Vale team.

About Me:

I live locally with my husband Tim, my son Luca, stepchildren Harry and Lucy, along with my brother-in-law Matt and 15-month-old grandson Caspian. Our beautiful 4-year-old collie, called Sox, completes our crazy but happy family life!

Job Title: Wellbeing & Lifestyle Lead Joined: 2021

What I Do:
My role is to compose activities and events for the residents that are inclusive, enjoyable and exciting. I liaise within the local community, arranging community group visits within the home and to outside events too – this helps to promote a social network for our residents. My role includes creating activity plans based on well-being, mental stimulation, physical well-being and, of course, the most important ingredient: fun!

My Experience:
I started at Wellington Vale in January 2021 as part of the care team. Every day, I always took pride in ensuring that I left residents with a smile on their faces. This helped me to make the easy decision of joining the activities team in May 2023. Exactly a year later to the day, I started my role as the Activities Lead, and I am still making sure there are lots of smiles and laughter too!

About Me:
I live locally in a shared house with my lively housemates. During my time off, I like to crochet and go for nice woodland or beach walks. I have many lovely and kind friends and family that I’m so grateful to have in my life!

What I Do:
As the head chef at Wellington Vale, I am responsible for providing a healthy, well-balanced variety of meals and snacks to our residents every day. My amazing team and I enjoy creating seasonal and themed menus on special days of the year, which our residents love! It is important to me that every resident looks forward to mealtimes and their meals are packed with nutrition and include any special dietary requirements.

My Experience:
I have been lucky to work in some beautiful restaurants, in particular Head Chef at ‘The Canteen’, Chef de Partie at ‘The Briny’ (AA Rosette 1 star) and Sous Chef at ‘The Elsted Inn’ in the heart of the South Downs.

About Me:
I have a great passion for cooking and love to bring a restaurant standard to Wellington Vale. I love to sing and dance around the home, and I really enjoy getting to know each resident. I am a family man and have a beautiful daughter Ivy.
