The cleanliness is fantastic. There is plenty of room and lots of people to talk to. The staff are all very nice. My washing is always fine - I don't have to do anything! I've made some friends and I have no regrets. Everyone speaks to you.

I am very content here. I have good company and people to talk to. It makes all the difference. My room is kept nice and clean and my bed is comfortable. The food is lovely. The staff are very caring and helpful. The activities are fun and overall, I am very satisfied.

I'm very happy here. We're well cared for and well fed. I enjoy all the activities. The activities coordinator is an asset and tries to keep us all entertained. The staff are all very approachable.

We were very impressed by the facilities when we came to visit initially. Each of the two floors has a lovely dining room and two large lounges. Meals are freshly prepared by the catering team and a cake is always made when a resident has a birthday. The cinema room is lovely and there is a range of
arts and crafts in the activities room. We like a wander around the garden when we visit. We've had great peace of mind since moving Mum in and there's no greater feeling than that. To see her so happy, enjoying the company of fellow residents and staff alike is wonderful.

It was very easy to arrange a visit, prior to my mum-in-law moving in. The home visit was thorough and the staff visiting took time to find out about her favourite foods and hobbies. Since moving her in nine months ago, we have continued to be impressed by the care and respect shown to her. Activities
are well-planned with visitors, including singers, a flautist and school children. The home is cleaned throughout the day and nothing is too much trouble.

My father was transferred to Baycroft after an extended stay in hospital. The staff have been extremely helpful in accommodating the transition and looking after all his needs. They have gone above and beyond to make him (and us) feel part of a community. I have nothing but high praise for the whole

I became increasingly concerned about the standards of care given to my elderly relative who had spent over a year at the home. Generally, the nurses were kind and considerate. However, there were frequent staff changes, more male staff employed which she disliked. Housekeeping and laundry were significant
areas of concern. Her care plan was out of date. Standards had definitely fallen. The website did not reflect reality.
Subsequently, she has moved to another home which has an outstanding accreditation.

My 96-year-old Mum and 98-year-old Stepfather have now been in Baycroft, Great Baddow for just over two and half years, I just want to say thank you to all the staff.
There are many challenges on a day-to-day basis, I am so grateful for the care you all give, you are amazing.

and dedication shown on a daily basis is very much appreciated.

This care home seems to have poorer standards in the past 6 months to those we experienced a year ago. The bed linen isn’t clean, the care room my mother is in is untidy. The level of care has gone down since she was first admitted in June 2022.

My three-week respite care followed me having a hysterectomy. What can I say - I had five star treatment. On entering the building the ambience was excellent. My room was exceptionally comfortable. The adjustable bed, and the recliner chair were perfect for me as they assisted me to have gentle movements.
Every member of staff that I met was kind, thoughtful and respectful. They all made my stay perfect. The food was excellent, a personal menu choice every morning (three courses for lunch!). There was a full list of daily activities, and the information was provided on a weekly printout delivered to me. There were a few Birthday Celebrations while I was at Baycroft Great Baddow
and these were held in the Bistro area with all welcome. The gardens were lovely, and I eventually was able to go out and sit there when the weather was clement. In all, I cannot recommend Baycroft highly enough.

Mum came to Baycroft Great Baddow after a prolonged stay in hospital and respite was paramount for both her and the family. It was only intended as a two-week stay but eventually was nearly 6 weeks.
From the first conversation with the team, our family has nothing but praise for Baycroft. In particular,
they were fantastic with the discharge from hospital, medication checks and all the medical notes and administration.
Mum was made to feel special from the moment she walked through the doors, and after a long hospital stay the hairdresser stayed beyond her normal working hours to wash and blowdry Mum's hair. Its the little gestures that make such a big difference.
On the medical team and her colleagues were notable - they so clearly care for their residents.
On the many visits there was never anything other than positive 'can do' attitudes from the whole team.
Baycroft really is a home and not an institution.
We won't hesitate a moment if Mum needs respite care again.

Overall, we are very pleased with the care at Baycroft Care Home, Great Baddow Chelmsford. The staff are all very caring and considerate to residents and visitors alike. However, the one thing that lets it down quite considerably are the gardens, which are well below what you expect from a "luxury"
care home. A gardener once a week isn't enough to maintain these gardens. Several residents we spoke to, feel the same.

My dad,94, came to Baycroft to allow my mum some rest time. Dad has dementia and is wheelchair-bound. Mum has been looking after him at home but following a fall Dad went to hospital and came to Baycroft. They had never been apart for more than a week and during Dad’s stay were due to celebrate their
71st anniversary, wow they were treated like royalty, a beautiful meal, decorations and it fell on a day when a singer was in. The day was made about them, Dad sang along remembering the words and smiling and laughing. I can’t thank the staff enough, they always make sure my mum is fed before going home and that they are both happy. The beautiful garden is a great reminder to Dad about the beautiful garden he had at home and he talks about how they should improve it. Keep doing what you are doing, showing compassion to all the family and making their time apart easier.

This is not going to be a great review as, after 3 months, my 95-year-old father was asked to leave for making misogynistic comments to some members of staff. Before my father was asked to leave I would have rated Baycroft highly, however, my father has moved to another care home and I have realised
some drawbacks with Baycroft.
Baycroft is a very photogenic home with very good facilities.
Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Although my 94-year-old Mum was not a resident, she spent a lot of time at Baycroft and the staff could not have been kinder.
The care can be patchy with a lot of agency staff employed especially at the weekend.
Medical care is not really as good as it should be. I think management needs to be strengthened on the medical side.
There is no standard for how long it should take to reply to a patient call so response times are variable but it can be more than 15 minutes.

My mum had a 2 weeks respite period at Baycroft Great Baddow in May 2023. I cannot praise the facilities and staff enough. She was encouraged to participate in all activities which she embraced, whether it was as a group or on a one-to-one basis.
The food was excellent and varied. I had lunch with
Mum a couple of times and witnessed her eating with gusto. Mum turned from someone with little appetite to eagerly anticipating meal/snack times.
A big shout out to each and every member of staff who made Mum feel very special and cherished. She very quickly settled into the very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere within the care home. She made friends quickly among the residents and often commented on how kind everyone was.
I was concerned about her going to Baycroft as she had not been away from home before. I needn't have worried as she was very happy there and never once said she wanted to go home.
She always looked well cared for during my daily visits.

This review is to reflect on our mother's first 2 weeks at Baycroft. Our initial contact with Customer Relations was excellent. We then met the manager who is clearly in charge, dedicated to running a caring home and dealing openly with any issues. Following a difficult 6 months at a different provider,
we are so very grateful to have been able to move Mum. The nursing/care staff have been excellent, delivering what they promised. Everything is monitored and the family have been consulted and informed regarding pain relief and care. I have walked in and seen the staff knelt by Mum's bed, they hold her hand, look her in the eyes and gently brush back her hair while they listen to her. This is not just a job this is care. The reception staff are welcoming and caring, keen to answer/resolve any concerns or queries, The entertainment staff are evident, present and clearly strive to communicate with all residents whether as a group or one-to-one. It is a community not just a care home. Thank you.

This review relates specifically to my mum's last days at Baycroft Great Baddow Care Home and her eventual passing. All of the nursing and care staff treated Mum with respect, dignity and consideration throughout her final days. This compassionate attention was also given to my dad, another resident
of Baycroft, and to all of the close family. The empathy, thoughtfulness and support from all staff were outstanding and helped us through a sad and difficult time. We will always remember the warmth and kindness shown and certainly consider the Baycroft community as an extension of our own family! Thank you.

We received a warm welcome, everybody has been friendly and worked hard to help Mum settle. In particular, our experience with the customer relations manager has been outstanding, nothing has been too much trouble. Mum loves cooking and she has been able to cook sausage plaits, her signature dish! Mum
did have an issue with the way a member of staff interacted with her, this was taken seriously and dealt with in an exemplary way. The nursing care she receives is excellent, we have confidence that medically she is being well looked after. Improvements could be made to the laundry service and Mum has been waiting 7 weeks for her outside door and curtain tie hook to be fixed. When Mum arrived she had very swollen legs and was led to believe that within a week these would be sorted, which didn’t happen for a multitude of reasons, it would be better to underpromise and over-deliver rather than vice versa.
