My father is now a resident at Skylark House in the nursing Milland Suite since July 2024 after suffering a minor stroke and was previously in the Howard Suite.
He is really happy and content even with his reduced mobility, this is down to the diligence and attentiveness of the caring staff within
Milland and the extensive activities put on by the well-being team.
On every visit, my father always compliments the staff and appreciates the range of. Activities that he gets involved with on a regular basis, due to liaison between the Suite staff and the well-being team really going the extra mile to get Dad involved.
There is a definite link between the staff and management, with all of them working well together as a team.
I believe my father is getting an excellent quality of life, due to the efforts of everyone within the team a skylark, and of course, enjoying the spacious house and accessible lovely gardens throughout the year. Thank you all so much.

In August my father went to Skylarks House for some respite while I was on holiday. After a two-week stay, he made the decision that he would like to remain. Despite being quite a surprise it also came as a relief due to his frailty and poor memory issues. I can only say that the reason he was happy
to stay was due to the care and kindness that he received. The fabulous activities and workshops arranged each day and the delicious food probably helped too!
The nursing side is faultless, any health concerns they have are dealt with immediately and I am always kept well informed.
All the staff - managers, receptionists, nurses, carers, entertainment crew, housekeepers, laundry staff, and the very talented chef and his crew all do the most amazing job and with a smile!
This all helps Skylarks House to be a wonderful place for your loved ones to stay and for relatives and friends to visit.

Skylark cares for my Mum brilliantly, at first Mum was unsettled because she was upset about losing her independence, but the team at Skylark has shown her respect, care, and kindness and has made a considerable effort in making life for Mum as fulfilling as it can be. I cannot praise the Skylark team
highly enough they are so welcoming to residents and their families.

In the short time Mum was in Skylark House we felt she was treated with kindness and well cared for. We were kept well informed about her condition. The doctor was called as necessary and we felt that the staff were always doing their best for Mum.

My Father in Law (FIL) moved into Skylark in April 2024. My wife, mainly, and I visited a number of Care Homes and without doubt, in our opinion, Skylark offers top quality safety, security, meals, and extra events throughout the year e.g. musicians coming in, Summer BBQ, Sports Day, and much more.
The
entire staff that we interact with are great from reception through to the carers/ events team and Management. The recent 'family' Christmas Meal event was superb.
My FIL appears happy, settled, and treated with respect/dignity, and is a great weight off my wife's mind. My wife visits, on average 6 days a week, due to it being local to us and I visit between 2/3 days a week.

This has been my first experience of a care home of which my husband is a resident from day one I have found everyone very caring and helpful the lengths they go to in providing the atmosphere needed to continue to live your life is first class and I can't praise them enough. Anyone thinking of a care

We have had a very positive experience since Mum has been at Skylark House. Have been impressed with the level of communication from the nurses and care assistants especially in relation to Mum's medical matters. This has been very good as have been called a number of times with explanations regarding

When I visited my grandad the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We went outside into the gardens which are lovely and well maintained and a great space to go outside. It is clear my grandad does lots of suitable and fun activities. The coffee area is a great space too for sitting to have a

Always a difficult decision to place a loved on into care, but after viewing several local homes, decided on Skylark, a main reason being the lovely, sizeable gardens. We find the staff highly friendly, approachable and seem genuinely caring in their various roles. They also give good communication
and updates as to how Mum has been with eating and socialising etc. We visit regularly and find teh staff always engaging with the residents in the lounges. The home is well maintained and clean with a good choice of meals.
As a point to note, I never give 10/10 score as I feel all businesses/companies can strive to improve, even if they are scoring high.

A home with a very caring and relaxed atmosphere. The activities generated are generally superb and motivate even the most disabled residents. Some of the visiting musicians are generally good but some should be aware of the age group of the people they are entertaining. The staff from senior management
to all other members are kind, thoughtful generally efficient and create an atmosphere of friendship, security and from a relatives point of view a family atmosphere.

Each time a new resident joins us, our dedicated Lifestyle team spend time with them to learn about their likes and dislikes, including what music they like. When booking entertainment and playing music, we always try to accommodate everyone's musical tastes and different personalities. We will make sure to have these discussions with your wife again to make sure we are catering to her musical preferences.

I have found this home very friendly and all staff are willing to help. The ladies that work on reception are always very friendly and welcoming. I feel that my mother is in a safe and clean environment where she is well looked after. There are lots of activities for the residents to join in, and the

She has been so much happier since moving to Skylark House. There are so many activities she gets to do. Lovely to see her getting pleasure going on outings on the minibus. Likes the food. The carers are so gentle with her. She has a great love of dogs and they often have dogs to visit. Always had a

My husband has been in Skylark for 42 months. He is very settled in the care home and always has a ready smile. All the carers stop and say 'Hello' using her name. There is a good rapport between the carers and I have always witnessed the residents being treated kindly and with care and dignity. I wouldn't

My father recently passed away at Skylark House after about 4 years. He was well looked after throughout his time there, but particularly so over the last weeks of his life when the staff were simply excellent in making sure that his personal needs were met with great dignity. They went out of their
way to be with him, for example doing their admin in his room or sitting with him in their break times.
Skylark House is a modern facility with a delightful garden with plenty of seating/shelters reached by level paths, which enabled us to be together outside at all times of the year. The food - which I sampled on several occasions in the last few weeks, is varied and tasty, and personalised for those with specific tastes/needs. Nothing not to like!
The icing on the cake would be better access to individual physiotherapy/exercise opportunities, though group classes are held regularly.
A very good experience for my father, me and my family. Thank you all at Skylark.

My grandmother moved to Skylark House after a bad fall at home. It’s a massive relief to the whole family that she has settled so well. She joins in the activities - there is always something going on, whereas at home she was bored. She’s made new friends and it’s great to see her so happy.

My mum has been a resident at Skylarks for over five years. In that time, we have been very pleased with the quality of care provided and in particular the exceptional dedication of the staff in looking after Mum. It is so comforting to know that Mum is being so well looked after. During COVID, the
staff were outstanding in maintaining procedures to keep residents safe. Most recently, the home has ramped up the activities and a particular highlight for Mum was a trip to M&S in Shoreham in the minibus. Last month, Mum celebrated her 90th and the staff were amazing in making it such a memorable experience for Mum and the family.

Skylark has a homely feel considering its size, allowing my mum to settle into care very quickly. The staff are always friendly and have time for a quick chat. The food is great. The coffee shop means visits are relaxed and comfortable for mum's friends which she particularly enjoys.

When I visit my friend at Skylark she always looks really happy. I stayed for lunch and the food was lovely. Once I visited and they had an Elvis lookalike singing which was really entertaining. It’s nice to know she is safe and well looked after.

I joined the Skylark House team in 2016 as Deputy Home Manager in 2016. Care UK’s reputation as a respected care provider was well-known. It prioritises its people’s development and the wellbeing and happiness of all residents, and I wanted to join a company with that clarity of vision.


Being with residents is the best part of my job and I do everything I can to make a difference to their day. I start and finish every day with a smile, and that makes me happy.
I was thrilled to be named one of the top 50 leaders in care by Care Home Professional magazine. I’m so proud to have worked my way up from Care Assistant to Home Manager in eight years.
